Cheers for the read Nick 👍

Forwards have to match the work rate of the ABs Pack, if we can’t match the physicality from the beginning then I expect a thrashing coming our way. Not sure about Bernard starting at 10, would’ve preferred developing another young 10 but these are the cards we’re dealt…. so prove me wrong mr iceman.
Good luck to the boys and bring on the ABs!!

ANALYSIS: The biggest challenge facing Dave Rennie if he's to avoid another Bledisloe blow

Guttered after that performance. Out forwards were out worked and out muscled, I had to stay off the socials on the weekend and was copping it from my SA mates haha. But hats off to the boks well deserved win. Good to see AAA and Etzebeth share a cold one after that on field scuffle, enemies on the field and mates off it. This is Rugby!

WILL GENIA: Players, not Rennie, at fault for Bok shocker but time for KB and Foley to restore spark and composure

Hope Tupou finds some form, I think Frost offers more of the bench then Swain you either start him or don’t. Can’t complain with the ratings they all seem pretty fair and hats off to Koroibete he’s a workhorse! I reckon Rennie sticks with the same squad going in to Game 2 though. Can’t wait to see some more test footy this weekend 👍

Wallabies DIY player ratings from the 1st Springboks Test: Marika makes history, everyone else plays for second

Cheers Geoff, good read in the morning before I get my day started. Gutsy effort by the boys in gold on the weekend, happy to get the win but man do we give away a lot of penalties. Hopefully we can fix that with the simple errors this year but also for some reason the boys always seem to step up on defence whenever we are a man down. So do we run out with 14 men on the field next week? Hahaha 😂 thought Marika, McReight, Lolesio, Phillip and Bobby V we’re the stand outs, while the other boys played their role very well except for Tupou. Hopefully the big fella can find some form before our match with NZ. Good to see Lolesio finding his feet and McReight getting involved more with his work rate and support running. Centre Pairing seems to be geling together pretty compared to last year, thought Ikitau played his role well shutting down AM, good to see Len get involved more on attack and Paisami was solid too not overplaying his cards and a few good kicks. Looking forward to next weeks game, bring on the boks!!

The Wrap: Rugby Championship takes another weird and wonderful turn

Give me whatever Marika had for breakfast, The man was everywhere during that game!!
Awesome to get win, still need to cut out the silly errors but the boys back eachother on defence. Expect the springboks to come out guns blazing game 2, looking forward to some more test rugby. Bring on next week!!

ANALYSIS: Boks need new blood and new ideas, and should take a lesson from Cheika's Argentina

AM vs Ikitau Excited to see these 2 midfielders go at it!!

Wallabies CONFIRMED: Rennie makes SIX starting team changes for Boks battle, opts for 6-2 bench split

Agreed Adastra and via Smith, I was surprised when I found out he had over 100 caps for club rugby at only 23, when some of our players around the same age have only played 20 – 30 games in Super!!! And yes it seems maybe going overseas is the best option for our young talent, given they play more games up North and we no longer have NRC to develop them.

Wallabies squad shock: JOC left OUT as Foley returns, Tah young gun's first call up, key men return to face Boks

Guttered for Donaldson and Edmed. Ah well hopefully Lolesio gets first run at 10 and Foley is backup/Injury cover. Might hurt his confidence If they go with the old horse first. Good to see Kellaway and Bell back, Forwards got a lot of work to get done against the SA bomb squad, the boys need to execute well and cut out the silly errors.
Bring on the boks next week!

Wallabies squad shock: JOC left OUT as Foley returns, Tah young gun's first call up, key men return to face Boks

Yeah i was thinking that about gamble as well, Pete Samu moved to the brumbies in 2019 after a few years at crusaders and I’m sure he got a wallabies cap that year. Gamble has been at the tahs since 2020 so He must be eligible for selection?

Wallabies squad shock: JOC left OUT as Foley returns, Tah young gun's first call up, key men return to face Boks

Don’t know about this one chief…. Anyone know how well foley is playing overseas? Still would’ve like to see another young 10 in the fold but it is what it is, still I’m backing the boys regardless!

Wallabies squad shock: JOC left OUT as Foley returns, Tah young gun's first call up, key men return to face Boks

Being born in NZ and moving to OZ as a kid I was surrounded by family members who are all die hard All Black supporters, I started watching rugby in 2011 during my teens and without a team to support I just got into the sport but seeing the Reds beat the mighty Crusaders I instantly became an OZ rugbyfan (Brumbies Supporter though) haha so yeah I haven’t been around since the golden age of the wallabies and I know we don’t have the best record since the old days but seeing the boys get the win feels even better! Love the game and will always support this team!!

Paralysis by analysis: Supporting the Wallabies these days is exhausting - didn't it used to be fun?

Agreed Olly! Ikitau is a class outside centre, the kid is only 23 and is definitely up there with the current top 13. Lenny is built for test football!!!

Wallabies DIY player ratings from the 2nd Argentina game: Valetini a shining light in a grim loss

Agreed Nick that seems like a good option, could definitely use some more manpower upfront against the boks forward pack!

ANALYSIS: 'Kindergarten' lineout calls and the 'luxury' player Dave Rennie can't afford against Springboks

My starting 15 for the boks game

1. Slipper
2. Porecki (if fit)/Fainga’a
3. AAA
4. Arnold
5. Phillip
6. Holloway
7. Samu
8. Valentini
9. White
10. Lolesio
11. Koroibete
12. Paisami
13. Ikitau
14. Kellaway(if fit)/Wright
15. Petaia
16.Fainga’a/Lonergan or Pollard don’t know who else we got for the hooker spot.
17. Tupou
18. Bell(if fit)/Pone(don’t know if he can cover LH)
19.Frost or Swain
20. Leota
21. McDermott
22. Hodge/O’Connor/ would like Donaldson but doubt Rennie would choose him
23. Petaia

ANALYSIS: 'Kindergarten' lineout calls and the 'luxury' player Dave Rennie can't afford against Springboks

I agree Frankly, we definitely need another young 10 alongside Lolesio right now! World Cup is a year away, O’Connor has yet to find some form at test level for a while now and can’t always rely on Cooper in case he gets injured again. I know we want winning results, but I’d rather risk trialing Edmed or Donaldson in the upcoming games to see how they would fair against the top nations before we head to the WC

WILL GENIA: How Wallabies should react to Quade shocker, potential 'superstar' and 'incredible' backrower excel

With Cooper out for the season and if Rennie sticks with a 6:2 bench then I reckon Start Lolesio at 10, Hodge at 23 to cover all back positions and call up either Edmed or Donaldson, would be good to see another young half in the fold.

WILL GENIA: How Wallabies should react to Quade shocker, potential 'superstar' and 'incredible' backrower excel

Awesome read!! Thanks for the Article Geoff????????
Despite the ongoing Injury toll the boys came through in the end, Still need to work on our discipline though, can’t let top teams like the Boks and ABs get easy points on the board that early in the game. The ill discipline/errors is what stop us from being a real threat to the top nations. Also I have to tip my hat off to Paisami, I didn’t have high hopes for him going into this game given his recent performances but man did he prove me wrong!! filled in quite nicely for Kerevi, hope he Carry’s that on into next week. Another player who looked good out there but always goes unnoticed is Len Ikitau, kid is a hidden gem he does the basics so well! His defensive organisation of the backline is highly underrated, he’s always in the breakdowns, runs a good line and doesn’t overplay his cards, definitely the locked in 13 for many years to come!

The Wrap: Two different ways to skin a cat as Wallabies and Springboks draw first blood
