Agree absolutely with your thoughts on Foley being a 12. Just a bit small, but his game is more suited to the position.

Wonder if they’re regretting knifing McKenzie yet?

Roar Forum: What changes should the Wallabies make for the second Test?

Hopefully now the Pooper experiment is finally over. Unfortunately we’ve just lost our best openside to Toulon.

How did we expect to win that game with the players we put on the park? Where are the threats in that backline?! Only one in Izzy Folau. One man cannot carry a whole team forever. If you want to score tries then you put people on the field who score tries! Hodge and Kerevi anyone? You also put someone in charge of them who can actually run a backline the way its supposed to be run, with class and precision. Not a one trick pony who is really only capable of catching and passing to one off runners.

We need people with vision! On and off the field. Because what we were fed last night was rubbish.

The Wallabies can't pass, catch or tackle

Wouldn’t mind those changes at all Akari. Hooker is an area of strength for Aus atm and we couldnt go wrong with any of the hookers in the squad imo.

Coleman would be my bench lock to come on with his size and pace for the last 25 minutes.

In the backs I do hope we see Folau at 13 sometime this RC. Haylette-Petty would be my bench outside back and come on for Kurindrani with 30 to go pushing Folau up into the centers.

Pick your Wallabies XV for the Bledisloe Cup opener

I’d have Hooper on the bench for now Tman. Not because I dont rate him but because I think we need a different balance in the back row at the moment. Timani is a strong ball carrier and I’d also have two very big ball carrying centers.

Pick your Wallabies XV for the Bledisloe Cup opener

I like his pace and ability to finish, as well as being able to kick and tackle pretty well. Really just enjoy watching him play. Same goes for Mitchell. I like AAC and his defence beats Morahan but I’d go with Morahan for his attacking ability.

Definitely not saying that they should be wallabies, just a little look to the future of some really young guys predominantly.

Thoughts?

Wallabies squad for Rugby Championship: Giteau released from Toulon and named

How dare you speak rationally Twas!

Stiles: Reds can win the Australian conference

I disagree re Magnays tackling CUW. However do think he could be better suited to the wing eventually. Don’t forget he is only young and has a lot of room to improve.

Stiles: Reds can win the Australian conference

Great, now Mackay!

It's official: Stiles to be named Reds coach

Really Chivas? You could take that whole first paragraph and replace Cooper with Foley.

Both are good players, beats me why people have to be so negative about a bloke just cause he’s from another state.

Quade's back! Cooper signs with the ARU, holds off on committing to the Reds

I’d like to see Stiles retained and Mackay brought back in to coach the backs with Cooper.

I agree with Nick that senior players should have some say over who is coaching them. I also think that Cooper would flourish in a leadership role as he has in the past (Aus vc, captained Qld vs BIL). Qld will have a strong playing group with a number of former and the current Wallaby captains in the side, and if we don’t think their opinions matter on who is coach, then who’s will?

The Reds must hire a coach that Quade Cooper wants

Youre spot on there Kane. Im still in much the same boat 😉

Memo to ARU: Stop the rot at the Force and move them to western Sydney

It really doesnt concern me which Aus team is in the finals because in my opinon none of them deserve to be there. They are all substandard at the moment. Its really a sad state of affairs.

Who cares about Australia's Super Rugby finals chances anymore

I’d almost go a step further and drop back to 3 SR teams and let the Rebels and Force devolope their players through the NRC.

I do think that if we could get quality players and more money into it an NRL type NRC deal is the way to go.

If we get better squads behind the other SR teams and get a winning culture going and have stronger Nrc teams as a result, then we can possibly sell the Nrc as an alternative to Nrl.

You definitely raise an interesting point Nicholas, for which there is no easy answer! I dont envy Pulver in this regard.

Has Australian rugby reached a tipping point?

Agreed Nicholas

Reds vs Chiefs highlights: Chiefs demolish Reds

Hehe 😉

Blues vs Brumbies highlights: Brumbies suffer crucial loss to the Blues

I dont mind your team at all A.O. and it will most likely be something like that. I thought Pocock was out injured for the RC.

I do think that we will continue to have issues with 3 flankers in the backrow. As I said I like Hooper, I just think we need a different balance at this point in time.

I still think Cooper and Toomua could be our best 10/12 combo and I think Foley and Kerevi coming on would be fairly devastating in the second half.

The rest I roughly agree with.

Cheika will look at Folau at outside centre: Gibson

Is that directed at me A.O?

Cheika will look at Folau at outside centre: Gibson

Who is in good form for flyhalf then? I think Foley and Cooper both have different strengths, which is why I would have Cooper starting and then bring Foley, Hooper and Kerevi on with 30 to go. The running game that those three bring to the table from the bench is near on perfect with Cheiks “finishers” philosophy imo.

As for the forward pack, Pocock is injured and is not in good form. Gill is in red hot form and I think we should use him while we still have him. Hooper has done nothing wrong and indeed I love watching him as a player, I just think at this point we need a different balance in the backrow as what we’re doing doesnt seem to be working.

I just want them to win, and incase you missed it we just lost 3-0 to the poms. I’d rather not lose all our tests to the All Blacks as well. I dont believe I have a state bias, I just want to see our best team on the paddock.

Cheika will look at Folau at outside centre: Gibson

I think the best backline we could have for the RC would be

9. Genia
10. Cooper
11. Mitchell/Tomane
12. Toomua
13. Folau
14. Haylette-Petty/Hodge
15. Beale/Joc

21. Frisby/Stirzacker
22. Foley/Gits
23. Kerevi/Hunt

Plenty of playmakers, ball runners, play kickers and place kickers. All of them can tackle, catch and pass.

Hopefully the forward pack will look something like this,

1. Slipper
2. Moore
3. Holmes
4. Simmons
5. Douglas
6. Fardy
7. Gill
8. Houston/ Higginbotham

16. Hanson
17. Sio
18. Kepu/Smith
19. Horwill
20. Hooper/Pocock

Cheika will look at Folau at outside centre: Gibson

I actually agree here. I’ve been a long time critic of Skelton, but I actually think he played well in the first half. He just needs to keep improving.
