Dessie did a great job resurrecting Manly after the Northern Eagles debacle. Thank heavens for Scott Penn’s parents commonsense toward a move that the fans will get behind.
Manly’s successes at a coaching level have been achieved with ‘Manly blood’ at the helm. Barrett has been a debacle- the fans didn’t want him & the results were diabolical on many fronts.
I hope Dessie makes Jake T our Captain. DCE has made numerous threats over the last few months, adding unnecessary fuel to the fire. The Turbo’s are the future of our club.
1st task in the job for Dessie is to sign them for life.
So hope Tooves gets a role amongst it all somewhere, although I can’t see that happening.
Bring on season 2019. Asides the Baby Blues this year, there’s been little to celebrate, & I’m fretting for (real) footy again already. Although it was pleasing to see the Chooks get over the Storm.

Hasler on verge of Manly return

If he blew 0.085 11 hours after his last drink, he’d have bad to had more than a dozen drinks in the space of 2 hours. Doesn’t sound like a smart move when you know you have the long drive back to Sydney the following day.
He states he has no charges against his name. If his, now wife, had pressed charges when he, as reported, assaulted her about 9 years ago, that wouldn’t be the case. It appears that the NRL can forget this, particularly big Mal who would have championed his appointment.
If he retains the captaincy, Cordner can put away his thoughts of ever captaining Aus. Inglis will retire in a couple of years, then Munster will step in. He will have taken on the captaincy of Melb (part of the deal to keep him) & subsequently QLD & Aus. Call it Mal’s QLD nepotism.
Inglis doesn’t deserve to represent Aus as our captain. He apparently knew he had the role before heading off on his drive & still got in the car. A very poor decision, together with family violence, & certainly not the qualities we need in ouur leader/ as our example to the youth who follow NRL. Oh of course, they’re too young to recall the family violence, so it doesn’t matter.

UPDATE: Inglis suspended for two games by NRL

Hi Birdy,
Thanks for your tips, however, GPS systems now exist in the 21st century. If you’re not quite up to speed, there are also things called computers, and I’d recommend ‘Google maps’.
Thanks for your insight, however I now live in country Victoria, and have NEVER missed being at a Manly Grand Final, as well as MANY other games, since living here for 20 years, so I’m proof that we DO travel. Having played in many grand finals over that time, that’s a while lotta trips.
With regards to people traveling from the Peninsula, why would they want to travel outside of ‘Gods Country’ to the cesspits that you’ve suggested?
The only thing I do agree with is that Brookie needs an upgrade, but with the NRL wanting to centralise games to bigger stadiums, I can’t see this happening.
And finally, the one thing you are absolutely correct about, is u don’t pick a fight with me……Maroon & White through & through, and we’ll fight to the death!!!

The Sea Eagles are facing the beginning of the end

Birdy-
Phhhhht…..
Dream on sunshine…..you wish…..
And Bears fans, get over it……

The Sea Eagles are facing the beginning of the end

Nobody has made mention of the significant injury toll Manly have incurred this year. Once Tooves gets a full strength side on the field, I have no doubt things will improve.
Either way, all teams go through rebuilding phases throughout their livelihood, and perhaps this is Manly’s time. What will be, will be, but I will always support the Mighty Sea Eagles through the good and bad times.
We are the only team to have won a premiership in all of the last 5 decades & are renowned for turning’nobodies’ into superstars! Beware ‘naysayers’- we’re now significantly cashed up, and sitting pretty in the Holden Cup; evidence that we have juniors ready at the fore. And finally, everybody hates us, And WE DON’T CARE!!! Manly= my religion! PS. Glad to see the back of Watmough- what a whinging, undeserving sook…..
