I think PNG will get a team because of Canberra’s (and more, importantly, the United State’s) preference for soft diplomacy there. PVL was a guest at the Whitehouse and I don’t think he was talking to Biden about the Everest Stakes. Take China out of it and if course Perth is the better long-term option but I think the government funding will be impossible to say no to.
