Good point until you consider the Fa’afafini or Fakaleiti? Before christianity I think the people had it worked out a whole lot better.

Israel Folau issued breach notice, has 48 hours to respond

Raised a catholic and this is the rubbish I have a problem with. You could pretty much find and back any point of view you want from the bible if you go digging. My take away from Jebus is he gave his life for his faith, but he preached love, understanding and tolerence. Much of which we need these days, if only IF had better advisors or a just a better sense of judgement. Either way rugby is the loser here.

Very apt comment but you have to think there would be some smart individuals around him that would have explained it all to him. The whole thing is sad for all involved and i think aussie rugby is the biggest loser.

Israel Folau does not deserve the sack

Hi Andy,

Great read and I will put my allegiances out before I go on – AB fan thru and thru.
I watched both the ABs and Wallabies games and was amazed and dismayed by both games equally. To be fair to the Wallabies and ABs to a lesser extent any win and especially a comeback win is a good thing. Cheika’s rev up seemed to be the thing, just wonder if it’s something you can do every week?
Banishment to the bedroom to watch the game seems to be pandemic I see. My lounge is dominated by that bloody Fortnite game as well. Glad I am not the only suffering ruggers fan forced into their own bedroom to watch a game!

A game of two halves

lmao wish there was an upvote system here!

Izzy on the wing - no, no, no!

Yeah he did well at HB didn’t he and almost the right size!

The Wrap: Wallabies will need more than resilience to beat Argentina

Interesting perspective and makes a lot of sense.

The Wrap: Wallabies will need more than resilience to beat Argentina

Agree in lots of ways if the new players don’t show consistency and improvement they won’t last long in the squad. Fifita, Hames, Dixon, Duffield, Tuipulotu (back in now through injury) et al

The Wrap: Wallabies will need more than resilience to beat Argentina

Yeah sorry bro I think everyone wanted Mo’unga to impress and whilst he did the basics well I don’t think anyone could say he was superb? First touch finder didn’t and I think that just showed how nervous he was. Not a bad game but no way near superb.
Argies played well but again they aren’t closing the gap when you consider who wasn’t playing for the ABs and the early rotations from injury. Both sides seemed keen to run the ball and lots of silly offloads and mistakes meant lots of opportunities to score.
Hate to say it but the scoreboard is what counts in the end. A messy win is still a win. I think Hansen and Co will be happy for the outing, blooding new players and combinations.

Dominant All Blacks unbeaten but feel the heat of the challengers

In lots of ways argie played like the ABs. Waited for an error and counter attacked, mostly ran the ball out of defence. Forwards did a lot of good work, Aus will have their hands full against them. Especially if they sort their scrum out.

No Folau, no Pocock, no worries for Wallabies

I was wondering if it just me but Toomua looked like 10 for most part. Why not leave him there and Beale back to 12?

No Folau, no Pocock, no worries for Wallabies

Yeah agree, NZ tend to want the core role nailed down first but if a player is comfortable in multiple positions they are cover for them. McKenzie prime example, think ive seen him slide in to HB even!

Wallabies team vs South Africa: Cheika rings the changes ahead of South Africa clash

Could not agree more! This has to be the biggest issue surely – selection of players first to suit! Combinations as well, get the basics right – play your best 7 at 7 ffs.
The ABs for all their hype and I am a fan pick players who A do their core role well and B are team players. You may be the best but if you don’t fit the team…..

Ultimately, Michael Cheika is to blame

Long time lurker here – and there must be some really massive ideological differences for Higgers to not get a game. AB fan thru and thru but a back row of Pocock (7) where he belongs, Higgers (8) and a decent 6 Tui is ok but maybe too slow.
Would certainly straighten up the loose forwards. Often mystified why MC picks players whilst talented out of position?
Tight 5 need slight adjustments and possibly the halves but when you look at it Australia isn’t that bad.
They just have the unfortunate happenstance of being so close to NZ. I grew up watching rugby in the late 80s/90s so any win is a good win. Score or manner aside.
NZ should have gone through a rebuilding stage after the last WC but I think through clever management have retained key players and identified those who will show eventual promise. The lure of Euros and Yen is strong!
To sum up MC is probably very unlucky to be coaching a good side that is running into a side that may well be looked back on as one for the ages. Musta been a kiwi who came up with “let’s make the first 2 games of the RC against NZ”.
Then again he needs to think “horses for courses” and get a plan B, C when the game plan doesn’t run to plan. I remember reading of generals that would adjust their plans on the fly depending on the enemies movements and plans. NZ in a very broad way do the same and adjust to whom they are playing. Turnover ball is great but you need to turn it over first. It’s always won upfront anyone who says otherwise doesn’t know the game.
IMO Aussie aren’t that bad and the rest of the RC will show that. The ABs though if they can get their rythym going early and set piece ball will be lethal.
I for one want to see a strong Australian side, the pieces are there. Just needs a strong hand with conviction to put them together.

The case for Michael Cheika
