Please tell me how this team is better than the ABs team.
How many of these players are best in the world for their position.
I’m not saying the ABs will blow them away because it certainly didn’t happen in this fixture last year but that’s a bit much.

What’s got Steve Hansen's goat?

You’re right, he’s only nearly played 100 super games for the tahs and none for any other super team but he’s definitely not a tah.

Michael Cheika needs to be his own man

Sorry but I can’t agree with that. Pulling a players jersey is not smart play at all. It’s foul play and should not be encouraged at all no matter if you get away with it or not. I may be being a little pedantic about the commentators as it was my team being beaten but they just seemed very eager to favour the lions in 50/50 calls. In the two contentious try’s in the game they were all for the lions one even though there was definitely evidence of the player losing control of the ball before grounding but in major doubt over the crusaders one where the second camera angle clearly showed that dagg hadn’t touched the ball.
I was just getting a bit frustrated with them by that stage.

Players and coaches need more discipline, and officials shouldn't hesitate to deliver it

I agree that kearns is woefull and one eyed as a commentator but I’ll also say that after watching the lions v crusaders game last night the Sth African commentators were just as bad. Praising the lions players for pulling jerseys as “smart play” and making out that the lions never put a foot wrong. I feel like commentators should be impartial, just like the referees and should have a good understanding of the laws.

I was sure the pass that created the line break was forward there. Not even one replay goes back that far.
Over all pretty unimpressed with Joubert tonight

Lions vs Crusaders highlights: Lions decimate Crusaders in quarter final

That was ridiculous and Joubert was right there to see it.

Lions vs Crusaders highlights: Lions decimate Crusaders in quarter final

No that’s not right. Even if the sun wolves and jaguares top their respective pools there is still one more WC spot guaranteed to the SA conferences which will be filled by a South African team. Just the way it is

Have the Lions handed the Super Rugby title to the New Zealand teams?

And rightly so

Highlights: Loss hurts Tahs' Super Rugby finals hopes

i agree, especially because in the replay you can clearly see him commit to the tackle after barrett is well off the ground. he knew he was going to take him in the air hard and didn’t try to pull out at all. filthy play

Highlights: Loss hurts Tahs' Super Rugby finals hopes

I have to disagree there Connor.
“Looked to have stumbled”, he was almost on his knees.
No common sense there, looked like pollock wasn’t convinced but his AR piped up

Waratahs vs Hurricanes highlights: Canes win 28-17

Yeah because that yellow was so fair

Waratahs vs Hurricanes highlights: Canes win 28-17

I thought they could only check two phases back. Surely the tackles right in the line make it impossible to check.
Don’t get me wrong, I saw it in real time and thought he was out straight away just debating the protocols.

Blues vs Brumbies highlights: Brumbies suffer crucial loss to the Blues

My understanding is that of the 4 wild cards only 3 are available to the Aus NZ conferences and the the 4th goes to the next highest placed SA conferences team.
So at the moment the Sharks would get a spot over the tahs but who knows what could happen in the NZ conference with a few derbys in the last two rounds.
On paper I think both the tahs and brumbies can make it but whoever doesn’t top the conference will have a very hard time I’m thinking

Brumbies and Waratahs are still in the Super Rugby finals race. Great!

foley’s problem is (as you said) that he cant kick accurately enough for them to be effective. On the other hand nearly all of farrell/fords kicks were contestable and england profits massively from that.

Foley has a bad habit of putting his bombs way to deep and allowing the receiver all the time in the world to take possession and distribute easily before the chasers get there. in all 3 tests there was so much wasted ball from his kicks. basically just gifting the english easy possession

The good, the bad and the ugly of the third Test: Australia vs England

Pretty sure that would have been a deliberate tactic. Not wanting to give the English a line out in your own half where they can make easy metres mauling it towards the line or milk a penalty if the wallabies collapse it.
You could see the wallabies were avoiding the line out most of the night. Especially after Simmons went off

A hometown villain amongst the Wallaby heroes

It tells you that the wallabies have an issue with their disipline. Too many kick able penalties.

Wallabies vs England highlights: England finish Cook Cup whitewash

Is that you phil kearns??

absolutely. lord sounds like a spoiled child who didn’t get his way

You've got it wrong, Michael Cheika

Hi Nicholas, this question is off today’s topic but in one of your comments last week you indicated that files are kept on all too referees.
I was wondering if they included analysis on types of body language that work well with the ref.
I was at the game on Saturday night and noticed that nearly every time Joubert talked to Moore and Hartley, Dylan would hunch down (almost hands on knees) and look up while moore would stand face to face. Looked to me at the time that Hartley was giving off submissive body language while moore looked more confrontational standing eye to eye.
Might just have been that he was tired but it didn’t look like he was breathing hard and was doing it from the start I’ve the game.
I watched the replay and it didn’t show up as much with the camera angles but I don’t think he was doing it in the first test.
Just a thought I had and hopes you might be able to tell me if that’s something teams work on or if I’m just reading too much into it.
Cheers

Why didn’t Australia play smarter at Melbourne?

Both would make the 23 but when all players are available I think only pocock has a chance starting and personally I’d take savea over him and cane. Big call I know but I see huge things in savea’s future

Time for Michael Cheika to crack the whip

Obviously umaga as well as many others but was just trying to make a point that it doesn’t have to be a forward

Time for Michael Cheika to crack the whip

Conrad smith did it for the canes and o’driscoll for Ireland so I don’t see why it absolutely has to be a forward. As long as it’s not an outside back then I don’t see a problem with it. I still wouldn’t have Folau as captain but that’s just me.

Time for Michael Cheika to crack the whip

The wallaby kickers also have to make sure their kicks are contestable. Too many times last night the English receiver had no pressure at all while taking the ball then running or distributing. On the other hand the wallabies always seemed to be under pressure for the mark or being hammered in a tackle as soon as they took posession

Cheika: It was my fault we lost

“he’s supposed to be the captain sir”.

Moore’s words to poite last weekend coming back to bite him??

Nine talking points from the Wallabies vs England second Test

Great points mattocks. I was at the game last night and the crowd was great.
And don’t give the pitch too much grief, I’ve been to games there for years and it’s only been really bad this year due to the abnormal summer weather we had and lots of traffic on it.
I made the trip up to the Sydney 7s this year and if that pitch was any better than Melbourne last night I’ll eat my beloved all blacks jersey.
We actually broke the addendance record last night and yes they probably would have sold way more tickets to the mcg or Etihad but id rather watch rugby in a packed out purpose built stadium than try to see what’s going on from the wings of an afl ground.

The ARU is flogging a dead horse by taking Tests to Melbourne
