Hey Jimmy….I totally agree on the Chad kicking game. Its definitely a problem. He doesn’t have the accuracy and has even worse distance on long kicking. But jeez who else do we have. I heard rumours that Clifford is returning to us from the UK:S God I hope that isnt true!!
I gotta disagree with your dislike for drinkwater though. I admit I wasnt convinced with him when he first arrived. But he looks fit. And his link up work going down the right, receiving from Dearden (whos sweeping around from the the opposite side) is great. And he can deliver some great try assist passes. MMMM his defense isnt amazing, but not many fullbacks are. Ive heard good things from a current squad member about how vocal he is in organsing the defense from the back. So we need to stick with him.
I agree Hiku is an issue. He’s too just too slow and lacks any danger in attack.
So a new half back and centre is needed!! Whos available???????

I’ll admit I had confidence in us this yr. But definitely not to reach the top 4.
Was something about knowing we had three good young backrowers Luki, Gilbert and less so Nanai that I was excited about. Turns out Nanai was the most impressive of all of them! I didn’t know a lot about Cotter but gosh he’s impressed me!

I agree mate…Its that Nanai/Chad edge that seems to be shaky at the moment. Nanai tends to come up and in very quickly, leaving chad to make a one on one with a big second rower coming at him. Got found out a few times recently, and sometimes nanai came up so fast that Chad didnt even have time to react and the opposite back rower has gone over untouched :S

Seemed to me the sharks just didn’t have the energy in the tank to muscle up in the forwards (which they need before going wide to that electric backline).
Even their defensive intensity was well down.

South seems really sloppy, but their significant players seem to be able to turn it up when it’s needed!

Ahhh Mike… I gotta admit I disliked your skepticism of the Cows all yr. But I gotta admit Im not sure if they have the grit to be a top 2 team come end of September.
To be honest, im so proud and impressed at how theyve grown as a team this yr.
As a cows fan since their first yr back in the mid 90s, ive grown accustom to disappointing seasons. But wow, for the first time, they’ve really shown this yr that we can develop good local top class players who can not only compete at nrl level, but a few have really excelled beyond that. Guys like Nanai, Luki, dearden, Cotter, Tuialagi, Gilbert, (yes i know a few of them arent local) have impressed beyond words!!
To get to the point….I agree with you that we are realistically behind the sharks, storm and roosters. But ah…man im so proud of them at the moment that Ill be satisfied no matter how we end the season. And you never know, come semi final time, they may have 2-3 games that click and they roll roosters/penrith etc.
Either way, finally North qld is showing that there is good young talent here, and they have a proud strong club to stay and mature up here.

As a cows fan mate this could be a turning point for us cows. Getting Cotter back could either tighten our defense and get us back on track, or we could be on a continued slide of bad performances.
I’m hoping for a much better showing this week after a slow post origin period.
