Hunt begins for Castle’s replacement
ROAR’S – Get used to it HOOPER will captain for the WC. The new physical trainer is pushing the Wallabies too hard & it broke POCOCK along with a few others who have since regained fitness & recovered. Doubt POCOCK will play in any WC games however after the SA Test I would only change DHP for KOROBETE & on the bench JONES for SIMMONS. In the final 25 minutes you want speed & JONES is my answer. If we had won (which if all cards fell our way) that is the bombed try by DHP & HOOPER’S neglect to take 3 points then there would be no changes. Leave FOLEY as MT was passed the ball out wide & he promptly kicked it. The AB’s would of kept ball in hand & they are the best. It’s not rocket science but outside our 22 run the ball with backrowers making a 100% effort to the breakdown.
The Wrap: Are the Wallabies cursed? Too right they are
MANLY BEACH – Can anyone inform me why FITZPATRICK the hooker from Eastwood & first choice hooker from NSW was not in the Wallaby Camp last weekend. He throws the ball straight, seldom looses a tight head and tackles. He can perform all these requirements under extreme pressure something no other hooker in Australia can. BEALE is totally unreliable and will not be considered when JOHNSON & O’CONNOR sit down with CHEIKA. As for centres you have KEREVI, KOANDRANI, HODGE & now MEAKES in front of HUNT.
Why the Wallabies should be on the midfield K-trail
We have the players within the squad to win a World Cup. There is very little between ABs’, SA, Ireland and ourselves. If we lose more than one Test on this tour Michael will have to make a couple of hard decisions or Australian Rugby will make it for him. If we do lose 2 Tests then coaching staff of at least 2 will be replaced. I do sincerely hope Michael listens to the general public. I’m travelling with over 2,000 from Gullivers & for most this will be their 3rd O/S World Cup. BEALE is a 15 or bench; that will fix the backs while in the forwards HOOPER & POCOCK will start so lets find 6 others.
Michael Cheika continues to ignore the obvious
Having been present in both Port Elizabeth and Pretoria I believe we are only marginally behind both SA and NZ. The 3 small ‘things’ I would like to see changed are BEALE to 15 or bench. Reason – he drifts sideways and it would not matter who was outside him there is simply no room. HOOPER and CHECK to sit down and work out when and where on the field to go for goal or touch. Reason – in Port Elizabeth twice we had kicks in front at 20-12 but went for the try with 17 minutes to go. Finally I’m sick of seeing HODGE trying to mark 3 men on defence as is borne out in out last few Tests – BLAKE for GREY would fix the problem in one session
Why Rugby Australia are sticking with Cheika, and why we have more pain to endure
RENNIE is a good coach & we are lucky to have him. Why do we have an English forwards coach; an Argie front row coach & Taylor the defence coach. When Robbie Deans was coach he had Phil BLAKE as his defence coach & during BLAKES employment Australian Defence let in an average of one and a quarter tries per game and won two of four Tests against the ABs. Does RENNIE know this bloke is back in Australia after a few years as defence coach for WASPS & later LEISTER? Our defence lines were so bad we ended up at one stage with a long haired prop with 10 metres between him and the ABs 5/8 who simply ran around him. I would drop both our hookers & would of had DAUGUNA off after 15 minutes.
