It’s not flushing it down the toilet if you’re the one behind the bar!

The Wrap: Is Eddie Jones playing the role of Keyser Soze or Frank Drebin?

This point “it’s about a game in this country that not representative and comes out of privileged circles” is the same in France, England, Argentina and Ireland.
So what?

The Wrap: Is Eddie Jones playing the role of Keyser Soze or Frank Drebin?

Excellent point, there is no guarantee that results will be any better with the new lot.

I do think Eddie has perhaps unwittingly disrespected the RWC a little by not selecting Quade and Hooper… Also some very odd selections in the reserve backs

It’s the equivalent of the Gold Coast lol

Four clubs announced for NRL's historic Las Vegas venture: 'On a stage the sport has simply never been on before'

Agreed, a wonderful film!

Shock and raw: New skipper, rookies galore and Test careers brutally ended as Eddie's RWC bombshells CONFIRMED

Also, why would you pick someone who doesn’t even seem to want to be captain?
That’s a bizarre decision – can anyone think of a precedent for that?

I’m sorry, but Ben Donaldson did not “earn it”. He hasn’t done anything.
Even at 35 and coming back from injury Quade is a major omission. He’s a better goal kicker, passer and kicker of the ball than Carter probably ever will be.
Carter should start but there’s no way QC shouldn’t be on that plane.

How is it that Ireland, who only have the population of NSW, are so much better than Australia currently, at all levels.
Ireland is the only country (besides USA) with a sports market as crowded as Australia’s, with Gaelic Football, Hurling, Soccer and Rugby all very popular. So that excuse doesn’t wash…. there must be other reasons.

Junior Wallabies' U-20s World Cup campaign hanging by a thread as Irish go to town at set-piece

Very good point Geoff…

I don’t know if it’s unique to rugby in Aust, but there is alot of doomsday laments.

My uncle in the UK has been a lifelong supporter of Everton, who have been around for 140 years and haven’t won anything of note since 1995.

Why can’t we have a bit more of that attitude in rugby?

The rest of the rugby world has left Australia behind

And Scott Fardy has just announced his retirment:

Why Jordan Petaia can be a better rugby player than Israel Folau

Good point – and the distances in Australia are significant, so players really may not want to go. Ireland, not so much…
I’ll never forget when my Irish cousin baulked at driving from Antrim to Sligo “in one day” (3 hour journey, max 😂 )

Coach's Corner Issue 7: What position for Petaia?

Hi Brett

good to see you writing on ABC news with some positive vibes around Rugby Union, to counteract all those negative ninnies in the mainstream media (Hinds, Webster, Knox ad nauseum)

Build it and they will come: The Andy Marinos view for Australian rugby

we have to remember it’s channel 9….

Michael Cheika is back in Australian rugby - as a commentator

Campo was a wonderful player and is often quite funny… But how long till he makes a gaffe?!

Michael Cheika is back in Australian rugby - as a commentator

Agreed…. Sometimes we forget how much sport, news, film, TV and music we get from the USA. Oh, and alot of America’s politics too, across the spectrum…

Good to take a break from it. I’ve had Stan previously and found it was pretty good in having local Australian content

You can now sign up for Stan Sport ahead of the Super Rugby season

Also, for some reason no halfback has to feed straight anymore, which is so annoying!

If the refs actually policed this (like they did when I played HB), I think the pushing no more than 1.5m rule would work!

Is the bajada the way forward for the modern scrum?

With your suggestions to not award scrum dominance, don’t you think there is a danger rugby union could become like rugby league scrums i.e. totally de-powered?

Is the bajada the way forward for the modern scrum?

I think everyone (even many Kiwis) can agree it’s a good thing for rugby if the ABs drop down the pecking order a bit, and have to change what was a spectacular (if rather one-diminsional) playing style. Just like the exciting Brumbies-style of the early 2000s or the duller ‘Jake-Ball’, the success of the ABs Harlem Globetrotter game-play of the last decade or so couldn’t last forever.

Are the All Blacks staring into the abyss?

I remember Spiros said years ago that SBS should actually commit to its charter and show some rugby, due to Pacific Islander, Irish, British Isles, Kiwi and South African diasporas here (could possibly add French and Argentinan too, at a stretch).
A great point I reckon.

The Wrap: A great new broadcast deal for rugby? Depends on who’s telling the story

Add to that Richard Hinds. He is constantly negative about rugby and full of dated cliches about elbow-patches and the like ..

The Wrap: A great new broadcast deal for rugby? Depends on who’s telling the story

I’m open to the supporting team (I think SBW would be ok supporting), but the caller has to be a professional.

I’d choose Steve Robbilliard who used to do Shute Shield. Or Gordon Bray still does well and knows the rules. Or Clarkey.

No way Rabs. Would just encourage people like Malcolm Knox who wrote that ridiculous article the other day calling for a merger (I think he did the same last year)…

How about a new commentary team to go with a new TV deal?

Indeed, get Steve Robbilliard! He’d be a great choice

Clarke and Gordon Bray are both good.

Maloney not great.

Who were the guys who used to do Shute Shield. Jim Maxwell and then there was a more recent one, can’t remember the name? They were both good
