Except he did award penalties and France had shots at Goal and missed. Just like Barret and Richie did for us.
France weren’t ripped off, they just lost, just like the AB’s did this time. It happens all the time, every game in fact.

Rugby News: World Rugby warns Kiwis' over 'robbery' whine, Barnes hits back at ABs, damning report into 'toxic' culture

Nah, that was a great wind up. Right up there with “4 more years boys”.
For me it was Sexton’s whining at the ref every 2 minutes. Plus the ref never even looked at Jodie being pulled down by an arm around the neck. Sure we got a penalty but it should have been a card.

37 phases and OUT! Whitelock the hero as All Blacks win epic RWC QF to break Ireland's hearts again

Watching the games at the weekend I really don’t know if any of the SH teams are going to have winning NH tours this year.

Unless something changes I think the ABs are too fragile and SA too one dimensional to get past the northern teams this time.

Hope I’m wrong

Bledisloe demolition simply End of Year Tour trial run

Unpopular opinion here, Clarke is lucky is only 3 weeks. He jumped knee first head high at the player. Even if he had caught the ball he still would have collected him in the head. As soon as his feet left the ground it was a red card. You see charge downs and attempts all the time where they dive past or in front of the player without a problem so there’s no reason it can’t be done. Stupid and reckless and lucky is 3 weeks.

Rugby News: Reds ace off to England, DC10's most 'brutal' foe, Blues winger banned, Mogg's setback, Force lose Test prop

Highlander, spot on.
For the last year or so I have been a pariah here in Christchurch (pretty normal as a hurricanes fan) for saying that neither Richie or Beauden are complete 1st 5’s. Their first instinct is to go out wide or look for the miracle play for the flashy score. there is no stability, no pinging the defense back with little kicks or any other settling play the Northern side use.
I think the best Mounga has played was when he had O’Gara coaching him at the Crusaders. That was when he had the composure to pin the opposition back in their own half.
Combine a composed 1st 5 with hard running forwards and rushed defense is negated.

Dispelling the myth that the All Blacks struggle against the rush defence

“Not even sure anyone ever got really hurt from this practice and it kept a team honest (obviously no head rucking allowed)”

Shauny, ask Buck if anyone got hurt.

How Rassie Erasmus (over)ruled World Rugby in the second Test

Richie Mounga, is he a flat track bully, or can he stick it out when the going gets tough? Sublime at the weekend, yet it seems he has gone missing at times when the forwards are under pressure.

I guess a follow up would be, does NZ actually have a complete No.10 who can do the flashy stuff as well as the hard stuff or are we relying too much upon a couple of moments of individual brilliance each game?

Get your questions in for Issue 14 of Coach's Corner

Just a crazy thought here, but the story states that SARU will now approach the northern unions and competitions about joining the Pro14 (Pro16 i guess) next year. What happens if they can’t reach agreement and the 4 teams don’t get accepted in? Where will SARU be then?

Super Rugby as we know it all but over after South Africa votes to quit, send teams to Europe instead

AT Mitre 10 level there are quite a few, Auckland Vs North Harbour is rough, Wellington vs Taranaki can be brutal and Canterbury Vs Tasman is always a good game. Then you have the Bays, Bay of Plenty Vs Hawke’s Bay. That’s a good game too.

Super Level, there’s not much, ‘Canes vs Saders is a goody and Chiefs vs anyone.

New Zealand rugby nearing a return

As a neutral observer from across the ditch I’ve been watching these events in a sort or horrid fascination praying that the same thing doesn’t happen here.

However, this morning I read a great article in the SMH from Georgina Robinson. Really well balanced and didn’t really promote either case, just laid it out as she saw it. I hope more people read it.

Hunt begins for Castle’s replacement

yeah, as a die-hard AB fan, I don’t think Read should be there, he’s had injury and surgery forced bad spells and struggled for a long time before that to be dominant. He did have a period there where he was brilliant but I don’t think it was long enough to warrant team of the decade level. Parisse carried Italy almost the whole decade so he has to be my pick.
Same with Creevy for hooker, Coles is awesome on form but isn’t there enough.

Revealing The Roar's Test rugby team of the decade for the 2010s

Great article Wingman, it’s so easy to get pre-occupied with the top tier nations that you forget Rugby is played and loved in a lot of other countries. Also interesting to hear about the difficulties involved in the large countries with travel etc.

Incidentally, what on earth has happened to Canada? They used to be an emerging power.

More to Russian defeat than met the eye

Fitzy got sent off (Red) against Argentina I think over there. Apparently he was trying to indicate to the ref that there was a high tackle and the ref thought he was motioning to cut his throat or something.

Barrett handed three-week ban by SANZAAR

Bismarck on Liam Messam in Auckland a few years back when he was yellow carded & upgraded to a red for leading into a tackle as ball carrier with elbow first.
edited to get the right player

Barrett red card 'ridiculous': Eddie Jones

I thought it was the inconsistent referee calls he was referring to. Barrett got a Red (rightly so) but 2 welsh players did similar things & 1 got a penalty and the other didn’t get anything. I suppose the headline wouldn’t be as good then.
