No denying it will be good for Australia and Australians’ in their dealings abroad in Asia.

I’d really like to see Frank and co. give a similar presser about the benefits for Australia domestically. Hopefully pressure can be put on Fox to come to an arrangement that sees the majority of games shared on FTA. Getting saturation coverage into Aust homes, like the cricket and tennis do over summer, would have the game front and centre in the population’s mind.
We see the amazing numbers SBS do during the WC. Just imagine if these sort of matches were played and screened at an hour friendly to the casual football observer.

Asian Cup is massive for Australia: Lowy

How many players can Holger take in his final squad?

Remember that AC2015 is being played exclusively on the eastern seaboard.

AC2015 needs to be on FTA. I hope some sort of sell-on arrangement is made.

Don’t like the substitute idea.

While the thoughts behind it are well intentioned, all evidence we see from other sports are that the “injury replacement” quickly evolves into a tactical option. Aussie Rules being the clearest example of the bench/substitute no longer resembling what it was introduced for.

Should Proteas have been allowed to replace JP Duminy?

I keep seeing Langerak’s name bandied around. Wouldn’t it be better to pick a regular starter for the NT, and let Mitch concerntrate on winning a spot at Dortmund or elsewhere?

If an athlete has a doping history, can they still represent Australia as long as they disclose it?

Olympians to sign no doping stat dec: AOC

Only one #1 Draft Pick has won a premiership? Not sure where you drew that statistic from, but it is a furphy.

Luke Hodge + Des Headland + Drew Banfield x 2 = 4

Road to tanking is paved with good intentions

If done correctly, the human form can be really effective on a logo.

The NBA and MLB in the United States have gone down this path very successfully.

A logo without humans is a good logo indeed

Don’t follow the NFL in that much detail, but am continually surprised by all the talk that makes little to no mention of the 7-0 Atlanta Falcons.

Presenting the NFL midseason awards

Kids emulate their heroes. I see it regularly. They mimick their moves, their celebrations, and the attitudes. Ref bashing/disrespecting is an aspect we don’t want to see replicated at the lower levels.
We already struggle to get referees at these levels. Making refereeing even less inviting is a flawed idea.

The AFL and NRL protect their referees for the good of the game at all levels, not just for their professional leagues. I expect the FFA will run a similar line.

Let A-League players and coaches speak their minds

Perhaps we can call this the “Australianisation of American sports”? 😉

Definitely opposed to this proposal.

Will US sport go ad mad?

Disagree with making the referees fair game. Respect for referees is a must. Have official, away from the media, channels to discuss concerns and disagreements with the refereeing fraternity.
You allow this sort of public lashing, watch the pool of young referees coming up through the ranks dwindle. Watch parents stop their youngsters taking up this integral part ofthe game at junior/amateur level.
Not good enough.

As for the peer-to-peer/player-to-player sledge. Let ’em go for it and the PFA/Union can clean up the aftermath.

Let A-League players and coaches speak their minds

That was a more dominant than our performances against the Solomon Islands in 2005?

More dominant the Oman matches on the way to SA2010?

Uzbekistan in Sydney?

Thompson slams Socceroos' critics

Thompson is a good footballer, but a tool in the media.

Have we all forgotten the way he behaved in the media when MV played hardball on his PSV transfer?

Thompson slams Socceroos' critics

He may not have the biggest number, but his tally would certainly include more important goals (equalisers + winners) as any player to wear the green & gold.

Cahill deserves goal record: Schwarzer

Nov 14 is away to Korea.

Hope Holger uses this opportunity to test Oar and co against a top side in our region.

From disaster to delight: Socceroos snatch vital win

The shifting of Athletics to Albert Park was very grubby, with Collingwood fingerprints all over it.

The Collingwood president opts himself onto the board of Aths Australia, and along with his State Premier Collingwood mate orchaestrates a move that just happens to free up prime real estate for the Magpies to move into and make their own private property.
Yep, that was classy and community minded ………….

How about the state of Vic Park when they returned it to City of Yarra?

We can all pick and choose facts to support our opinions here. 😉

Collingwood turns on its own players

NBL.TV even had an early-bird offer of $59.00 for the season, it is certainly decent value for those dedicated fans.

Ratten “pulled out” after Port told him his presentation was less than satisfactory.

Port convincing no one with Hinkley spin

Archer’s award seemed like a “long-service” award more than the job he did on the day.

David Rhys-Jones’ Norm Smith in 1987 is the best example I can think of. Just owning his one-on-one contest with Brereton.

Are statistics really telling us who our best AFL player are?

Not a fan of this article. Racing home to view a game that was never set to screen on television? I would expect the die hard fans would be the ones most aware of what is being televised this season, and what isn’t.

Agree with Ferdinand, it has been widely reported (even here on The Roar) that this is the best deal BA/NBL could muster, and a better deal than we’ve had in recent years.

Would be a big risk for Auckland City to join the HAL and give up their perpetual spot at the World Club Champs.

Imports hurt national football teams: Arnold

Wholeheartedly agree. But football at AFL level is a business, and marketing plays its part.

Time for AFL to recruit from our own backyard

Spot on, Seano. 😉

But this way it can be billed as “champ v champ” like the Charity Shield in England.

Why not have an AFL Charity Shield game?
