The lack of reward for the tackler is what gets me, the Blues lay the most inside 50 tackles by a considerable margin but it means nothing

Put Martin in for Fantasia and Motlop for Durdin and it will look better balanced

We aren’t scheduled to play again here and now, that’s what is wrong with that

You would think the top 4 are safe but Melbourne are flaky and the Giants have played just 2 of the current top 8, for 2 losses both more than 3 goals.

Out of the 4 teams you list I would like to think you could trust Carlton the most – and they probably have the biggest upside in terms of players to come back.

“The difference in class to the teams the Blues have lost to is telling.” Really – lost by 4 (14.14 – 16.4) to the Crows, 13 (15.15 to 18.10) to the Cats and 6 (12.7 to 12.13) to the Pies and that is a “telling” gap in class?

Pies fans are carrying on like they won by 10 goals instead of coming within a Harry McKay decision from losing.

We will see how the class gap shows later in the year.

Brisbane are a chance but are 2 games behind and I would assume they have a tough draw given they finished runners up.

I am not disputing 7 is bad, or that fox is better, but this phenomenon didn’t just happen 2 weeks ago.

Why suddenly do we have 2 of just 12 “points” from 18 games – a lot of which have had top teams playing each other or significant upsets – dedicated to saying “channel 7 commentary is bad” – we don’t have a point saying the sky is Blue?

Lachie Fogarty is still equal 12 for tackles inside 50 despite only playing in 4 games so he has been missed but McKay and Durdin have both laid 13, just 2 behind the leader and the Blues are still the leading inside 50 tackling team in the comp – 15.6 to the Power 13.8 a game.

They have slid down to 12th on the intercepts (I think they were up in the top 2 or 3 in the first month) with 66.9 per game compared to the Cats 74.6 which I am not sure whether that is down to not having the cattle or strategy.

I wasn’t a real fan of it, but I think it is getting better. TDK has kicked 4.5 in the last 3 weeks averaging close to 16 possessions – if he can straighten up his kicking it can work.

We won the contested possession and the clearances in that game and were 16 points up with less than 5 minutes to play. Throw in kicking 14.14 to 16.4 and we should have won that game. But we didn’t.

Don’t think it will kill our season and if the Crows claim a couple more scalps it will help but it certainly didn’t help it.

Win this week and the Bombers & Giants play each other, the Cats play Port and the Dockers play the Swans – right back in the Hunt for top 4

I was astounded watching the Geelong Carlton game live last week how clear holding the ball decisions were just let go – the BLues should have had 3 shots on goal in the second quarter from holding the balls that weren’t paid but on the flipside Cripps especially is given a long time to fight through a tackle.

I would say that had McKay wound a target inside 50 at the end and we had won they game the media would have been raving about how McKay and Curnow were the difference.

TO me McKay has been great this year, Curnow still hasn’t hit his stride – it will be interesting if getting the likes of Martin, Motlop and Fogarty around his again will open up some more space and make him more dangerous.

Yeah the Adelaide loss is the one that hurts (although them knocking off Port helps a bit) – if we held on to that one like we really should have 6-2 and we are flying.

Looking outside the 8 though and aside from Collingwood who do you really see as pushing up?

Good teams have beaten us, but how many losses in the last 22 games? And 13 points is our biggest loss this year to a team that has lost just once.

“The presumption was McKay and Curnow would be too much for the Collingwood defence” Well McKay did kick 4.1 and Curnow 2 and 2 goal Assists – so they weren’t far off.

I really hate the fact that Schultz can chase down a player and deliver a round house to the head and a week is the penalty when players are getting multiple weeks for essentially accidents.

Come on Peter, Curnow is leading the Coleman and McKay is 4th

What I am saying is that the statement “The Magpies defender, actually, does everything right in his tackle technique: he stays on his feet” is demonstrably false.
I am also saying that Maynard is considerably bigger than Owies.
I am also saying the onus is on the tackler.
I feel for players in the complex, last week Cottrell kicked a goal because Koladjasni simply held him in the tackle while Higgins copped 3 weeks at least in part because Alir tried to push off then fight through then dispose of the ball while being tackled.

Yep – got smashed in both of those area’s and still we had a golden chance to win it in the last couple of minutes – a lot of upside for the Blues for next time around.

Lets see shat happens in the next 2 weeks first but I have some confidence we will win at least 1 with the players we have coming back

The video show Owies being tackled from behind by a bigger player and going forward, the still shows Maynard off his feet dragging him down

Blues not adhering to the team plan, missing a number of players and still were a Harry McKay decision away from winning-thanks I feel better

Yep, and the suspicious thing about these repeated comments on channel 7 commentators (not long after fox said it would provide its own for all games) is the amount of content the roar gets from fox

Blues have Dees and Swans the next 2 weeks- have players coming back and still should make finals but going to be an interesting couple of weeks
I see the Cats got just 14 free kicks this week (Dees got just 17) while Collingwood got 15 in the first half and the Blues 13 in the second half – something seems different
