Agreed. Brattan did not have mobility even before his injury. Nieuwenhof always has time on the ball and will usually make a good pass. How can Sydney fc get it so wrong?

A-League Round 2 talking points: Kisnorbo in the right, Cumdog robbed and youngster bossing midfield

Agree. This not fantasy football. Socceroos are playing France the reigning world cup holders and Demark who have just beaten France. No manager on the planet would select a player who has never played a full game in their domestic competition. Furthermore it sends the wrong message to the player who missed out on selection, and the entire playing group.

Socceroos’ second half against New Zealand proved Arnie is the right coach, if the team just follow his instructions

Grem, Try The Away Game by Matthew Hall. Published in 2000 it chronicles the struggles of Aussies playing in Europe. Some of my favourites are Brilliant Orange-the neurotic genius of dutch football by David Winner, Soccernomics and Why England Lose & other curious football phenomena two great reads by Simon Kuper and Stefan Szymanski. Foul by Andrew Jennings exposes how corrupt FIFA was in awarding World Cup hosting rights to countries which supplied the most cash in brown paper bags and other inducements. Football and Gangsters by Graham Johnson casts light on seedier part of British football and some insight as to why Steven Gerrard never made the big money move to Chelsea when he was at the peak of his career.

With Goodwin attacking from deep on the left and Harry vds attacking from deep on the right Adelaide will be scoring goals for fun. Popovich is solid in possession for a young defender, which allows team mates to make runs into space. Milligan is a proven winner and will introduce mental toughness to the playing group. Keep Gauci and the promising youngsters and Adelaide will easily surpass last season’s 4th place finish.

Socceroos fans furious after missing out in World Cup ticketing fiasco

A good manager will have the squad performing much better than the sum of it parts. Look at Klopp at Liverpool. Footballers who come to Liverpool are better players under Klopp than when they arrived. Morale and confidence of all players is fostered and supported. Squad players excel when they are given an opportunity in the run on team.
Sydney have played too many aging players irrespective of form. Inflexible dogmatic tactics appeared to drain the confidence of Sydney players. The Sydney squad on paper should have delivered more than 8 wins out of 26 games.

Corica up for Sydney rebuild challenge

Sydney pass it sideways were intent on assembling a quality Over 35’s squad. The A League premiership seemed a distraction.

Daniel Penha is Sydney FC’s statement signing in waiting

Agree 100%
