Scoring at a snail’s pace: Why Australia's pedestrian top four is about to get even slower
On statistics alone, Australia's top four is set to score at a slower rate than we are used to - so do we need to find a Warner 2.0?

It could be argued that many games of rugby league hinge on just a few key moments: a dropped ball with the line wide open, a field goal that hits the crossbar (I’m talking to you Benny Elias), or according to most fans, a refereeing decision or two, or three.

Good tough win for the Dolphins. The Tigers have some mettle this year and I think they came out on top in the forwards, just some class by the Phins and a few errors from the Tigers, plus another top kicking performance from Katoa who is improving every week.
Big injury concerns now though. 4 of the top 6 forwards now out, plus the irreplaceable Herbie
Phins up but three stars down for the count in casualty ward as Bennett ponders cost of bruising Tigers win
What an entertaining crazy game of footy
Wishart does Dad proud with match-winning try as Storm chase down Broncos after Reynolds limps off again
It would take half a team to lift big Ben 😂 .
Seriously though, there is a risk because you’d have players out of position if the kick is not actually regathered. Unlike a line out in rugby we are talking about a drop-kick (harder to control) travelling 20-30 metres, plus the lifters, etc cannot just wait in place but have to move up and organise while the opposition tries to disrupt them.
So I think it would be an interesting experiment, but I’m not sure it would be as effective as we might think.
NRL News: Bellamy fires back at nasty NAS rumours, Slater slams Dragons' double standards, Brooks' advice for Galvin
I remember that cover. And they were 100% right. What a star Turvey was. In his younger days the chip and chase and dart from the scrumbase were must watch footy, plus he was as good a cover defender as anyone.
NRL News: Bellamy fires back at nasty NAS rumours, Slater slams Dragons' double standards, Brooks' advice for Galvin
As I said above, the Storm’s “luck” may have run out with first Paps, and now Munster and NAS spending large amounts of time and salary off the field.
Roosters have always done pretty well in this regard and the Panthers have shown their hand in recent times by letting big name players go. Cleary (like Bellamy and Robinson before him) is very clear on what players he needs to keep and what others he can interchange as long as the system stays rock solid.
Getting value for money from stars is the biggest competitive advantage in the NRL - and the flip side can be devastating
The Storm have done pretty well up to this point in getting value from their marquee signings, but over the past couple of years, first Paps, and now Munster and NAS are chewing up large chunks of cap space for little time on the field.

That would be for the coaches to manage.
More subs, player loans, cap changes?: How the NRL can be proactive to fix the early-year injury crisis
The Dolphins are looking okay and improving as Farnworth and Flegler get used to the systems. Katoa’s kicking game is way ahead of where he was last year. Nikorima is the weak link at the moment. Having the bye so early allowed the squad to re-set after deciding to change their halves combination.
Losing Plath after losing Gilbert will hurt them in the middle, but they have the makings of a fine back 5.
It’s been an easy draw so far though. Time will tell.

Yeah for sure, I just think six allows you to add a half and outside back option.

I think Warriors to 6 and you have it about right.

Alfie Langer perfected it, just getting enough hand on to allow the tackle.
A history of hip-drops: What Super Rugby can learn from NRL & NFL to stamp out footy's most dangerous tackle
As a Dolphins supporter, I felt a bit for Plath as he obviously realised immediately what he had done and knew he was in trouble, plus he is a rookie having only played 5 games.
And he should have been sent off, not to return. It was a textbook as they come and poor Sami hobbled for the rest of the game.

the change to the bench seems to be a very simple solution. I think even 6 would do it.

Just those results with Australia being world champions in two out of three formats and only losing one series in forever.

i would have like to have seen the young spinner you have there given a contract as well, but they have invested in Murphy so far.
Of course anyone can still get picked and get enough games to receive an upgrade
