A move to the Lions would be good for the club and footy in Queensland but I doubt very much that Brisbane sack Voss. He is a hero of the club and I think that is clouding their judgement. Malthouse may enjoy having a smaller role at a successful club next year (Collingwood) than a cocahing role at a club he would have to build up again. He might like a Hawthorn or Carlton but they both look safe enough at present.

Which AFL coaches are facing the sack?

This Australian Open has sadly proved what the networks think of the females game. The mens match is on before the females most nights and by the time that is over everyone is off to bed. I was at the Nadal match last night where 15000 were there for it and the stadium cleared out before the womens match. By the end there were 2000 people in RLA – be it at 130am. This is a sign that the womens competition isnt rated by the networks and that is why we dont see any Fed Cup action which is sad.

TV coverage of tennis is missing the point

I also agree with Garner. As I recently stated in my last article a two-tier system would disadvantage the smaller nations. We shouldnt be trying to put teams down but should look to builld them up. It is all about the development of the game and pouring funds into the game in every nation to make it a more competitive all round. We dont need to change the game just need to develop the players that pley it to improve the standard.

Two-tier Test system selfish, says Garner

The political situation is not ideal in the region and the problems with the player strikes have not helped over the past year or so. If the region can find unity and once again focus on the development of their players they maybe we can see the glory days of West Indies again but it comes back to do the players and administrators have the will to make it happen.

Get grassroots right and Test cricket will prosper

One problem is that in India, unlike Australia, television rights are paid by the day not the match meaning that if a match finishes a day early the Indian cricket board misses out on the income generated from that final days play. Curators are henceforth told to produce a pitch that will last distance. This means that we will continue to get pitches in India that are a batting paradise. They now know how much money can be generated in the other forms of the game and will go for that instead. This is a major problem, the people in charge are not looking at tradition rather they have dollars in their eyes.

Agreed but I dont mind rugby league its really just the labor party that I disike

Why John Howard is out of his league

It does seem premature as I think its important that they look at how the new sides survive befroe even considering further expansion but as you point out every business has 20 year plans and that is what the AFL is these days a business. Demetriou is a money maker and he will do whatever he can to generate more income for the competition but at what cost to other clubs already struggling. But hey they are all still alive in Melbourne currently and we are getting two more sides.

Will AFL expand to a twenty team comp?
