Nice piece. I’ve often gone to Sydney FC games by myself when my mates weren’t available and must say, I enjoy the experience.

Army of one: The joy of going to the football solo

You’re still being cryptic, and it’s gone from ‘high six figures’ – which surely means 700k+ – to ‘several hundred grand’.

I don’t have any inside info, but if the number is more than 300k per season, I’d be shocked.

Wanderers risking it all on two-year Rodwell deal

I believe Josh was referring to the venerable and honourable Scott Morrison.

Qatar looks a long way off should the Socceroos lose tonight

Do you have a source for that?
One, I can’t imagine he had much leverage to demand such a figure, and two, I wouldn’t have thought WSW had much cap room left in any case.

Wanderers risking it all on two-year Rodwell deal

This is an intriguing signing, though I’m glad it wasn’t one of Corica’s.

Good point made about Robinson. He’s under a fair bit of pressure.

You would, but the board are in an awkward spot. May is close with Cleary jnr and obviously has Ivan’s support.

May to face Panthers board over social media antics

I hope that’s sarcasm.

May to face Panthers board over social media antics

Exactly. Look at Sam Burgess or other high-profile players – they’re pretty close to untouchable. Needs to be a big, big scandal to bring them down.
The Dogs threw Lewis under the bus for an incredibly minor incident because he had no value. How many speakers could Sam Burgess steal without facing any repercussions?
How easily does something that trivial get swept under the rug if it’s a star involved?

We must all do better to address rugby league's harmful treatment of women

The better the player, the more they are allowed to get away with. This principle is widely accepted, and it may well be catching up to May sooner rather than later.

We must all do better to address rugby league's harmful treatment of women

Good piece. For me, it has to come down to slams. The endurance and mental strength required to go all the way and strength of opponents blow ATP events out of the water.

Only slams matter for GOAT status: Part 1

He’s had an incredible start to the season. If he keeps it up, Liverpool’s campaign is looking bright indeed.

Mané hits triple digits, Firmino bags hat-trick as Liverpool trounce Watford

Murray, The Roar has covered this issue already and Mary typically covers rugby league, not football.

It is true that she covers a lot of women’s sport as well, but that doesn’t mean she has the time or resources to cover every single issue in women’s sport.

This seems like a bit of a hit job on someone who produces quality content for this site.

We must never forget that women's football is worth it

While it’s important that too much attention isn’t taken away from the upcoming A-League season, I’ve got to say this piece sounds dismissive of the issue.

Of course there are lots of positives in women’s football, but you can’t ignore the seriousness of the allegations and awful Matildas PR with “Just let the investigation show what it shows”.

We must never forget that women's football is worth it

Great job, Dimitri. Keep writing, mate.

'It was alien, poetic': Why I'm forever watching Benji

A proper four-horse title race that goes into the final weeks would be great. Can’t remember the last season where more than two sides were genuine contenders.

Mané milestone, City and Spurs stumble, Villan's stunning debut - Premier League Talking Points

Can’t stand this either. Drives me up the wall.

Ten years on: Why Ten's AFL commentary still reigns supreme

You’d hope so. Not long now until the A-League is scheduled to kick off (I’m aware a delayed start is looking likely) and it’s been crickets so far.

Women’s football in Australia: Start making noise now

It’s a chicken or the egg situation, as far as I can see. Optus have the rights to the World Cup – I’m sure they will be putting some effort into its promotion, but to think there’s going to be much from Paramount’s perspective for the W-League is only wishful thinking, I’m afraid.

The only hope for positive long-term growth of the W-League is if it piggybacks off the Women’s World Cup. I’m hopeful but not going to expect too much.

Women’s football in Australia: Start making noise now

Yeah just the main feed and one or two other courts. Surely if Nine can manage to stream every court for free for the Aus Open (I believe this is changing for 2022, however, with the outside courts moving to Stan), a paid sub should let you watch every match of a major.

Raducanu, Fernandez in all-teen US Open final

Love it. Now for the men’s side to have two teenagers in a major final.

Raducanu, Fernandez in all-teen US Open final

There’s no way Souths were getting past Cleary and the Panthers, with or without Latrell. Just a salty Chooks fan’s opinion but I just can’t see how they would get over that hump.

'Tough road ahead': How far can Souths go without Latrell?

I’d consider him at 11.5 or less. 12-plus and I’m out.

Report: Lukaku heading back to Stamford Bridge for eye-watering £97.5m

Insane money. It’s a great Saturday night for Daniel Levy too.

Report: Lukaku heading back to Stamford Bridge for eye-watering £97.5m

So, Chris, what is a reasonable timeframe for the delivery of the stadium? Is the current expected completion in May 2023 reasonable?

The goalposts are constantly moving in this situation – that’s the issue.

Someone needs to be accountable for Western United's embarrassing stadium fiasco

I can only really speak for myself, but I’m ‘on their backs’ because a major factor in United’s bid for a licence being accepted was the construction of this ground.

As things stand, it has been pushed back and pushed back.

Come on – you might say I’m a cynic or a pessimist, and you’d be right to say so. But to say this state of affairs is acceptable is to be the ultimate apologist for empty promises.

If something smells like bullshit and tastes like bullshit, it’s reasonable to assume that it is, in fact, bullshit.
