I blame tennis, with their tie breaks. They started it because they had to. Matches were going on for hours – one Wimbledon match lasted over 11 hours. Now they have the 5th set 10 point tie break. In league the golden point did at least bring back the drop goal which we hadn’t really seen for 50 years.

I’ve seen a of constitutions which say what can and can’t be done without board or shareholder approval. However if the conditions are breached it’s either an HR matter (eg sack the exec) or breach of contract dispute between say a shareholder and the directors. It’s not easy to deal with unless you’ve got an outraged and genuinely independent (from the exec) board or an outraged shareholder threatening court action against the board.

I read that the $80m loan that Rugby Australia got has a 10% interest rate. If they default what is the collateral; the whole business? Arguably a complete change of ownership due to default might be a good thing

In our other codes all these officiating changes were driven by creating more space for tv ads. So maybe they’re thinking VAR reviews for dissent, with lip readers to see what the player actually said. That’ll take ages
