They are an agony to watch. The problem is basic skill levels and game management; it is all activity without tactical insight or set-piece creativity. I am puzzled by the inconsistency of the Australian on-field game which must be due to structural issues and to sports management. The Wallabies play without a shred of intelligence or apparent purpose and it must be attributed to the philosophy of the coaching staff. In my view, if we go to Japan with Cheika and his coaching crew we will lose either in the pool stage or quarter-finals. This being the situation, I would clean house after England. What can we lose by doing so? The Cheika era has been a failure and he has had chance after chance. We face almost inevitable eclipse in the 2019 World Cup so change now and roll the dice with a new outfit.
