There isn’t a venue of AFL standard in the City. Even the London Australian Football League play a vastly hybrid version of the game there.

The season runs from August to May, it’s far more than just winter. The Running track is gone. It is now almost exclusively a Football stadium. I’ve been there to watch Rugby League so I have seen it first hand. WUFC made huge changes to the seating so it is really unsuitable as a venue. As I said I admire your enthusiasm but your idea has serious flaws.

It is because Eddie jones is a massive League fan Mike, and this Athor in particular is a huge Eddie Jones fan. There isn’t really a code war here anymore, the NRL is decimating RU in every metric, particularly recruitment and retention, but these articles get us talking.

One thing that League do better (at least out her in the regions) is help a player and their family out when they are younger. Here if a kid has good talent young, the NRL clubs will seek them out, take their family to Sydney and look at the facilities, give the kid a tracksuit and tell the local League club to help them with groceries and other things, only 1 in 20 make it but they almost always choose League, and for what a minscule investment? Union clubs just don’t do that, if a kid shows lots of promise they get a letter to trial in Sydney for the Tahs, I doubt that NSW Rugby even know where the missions are anymore, yet clubs like the Panthers, rabbitohs and Bulldogs are there every week iun the season. It pays off.

I did, and what you do not realise is the ground is now a Football STadium with a lonng term lease for West Ham? good luck getting them to share, they were reluctant to move to the stadium so the lease is heavily in their favour and their is very little other use ehrn it is Football season over there. The rest of the Ovals in the area have full time turf pitches in the middle.

I like to see this type of out of the box forward thinking, would never happen and there are too many flaws in the plan but it’s an interesting read. The lack of venue, crossover with Football season and lack of real customer base make it unfeasible, let alone the distance.

Blah blah blah, I have heard this so many times, we have lost a generation of Aboriginal kids to Rugby, and why? Because they don’t go to the right schools. The Ellas were 40 Years ago, stop living in the past. Actually come to an aboriginal community and help the kids out , like the Sydney NRL teams do and you will have an embarrasment of riches. Until you are prepared to do that, shut up Eddie and stop cheering him on Doran.

For all of their noise about signing high profilr NRL players RA have made absolutely zero inroads with both Burton and Latrell resigning with their League clubs. Rugby did not even make Latrell an offer andf he is a human headline.
