This just goes to show what a fool Scott has made himself to look like.
As if his comments last week were stupid enough on the very week where the AFL were taking a stance against violence against women this now comes out.
Scott still tells us he’s a good person and the probability is that Essendon will probably draft him next year unless the AFL “correctly” step in and disallow it.
This is why Essendon is where it is and will forever be there. They have no culture or should I say they have no culture one would be proud of.

AFL News: Police investigate new Thomas allegations, Gawn 'embarrassed' by players' repeat homophobic slurs

What a ridiculously poorly timed comment from Scott. With all the furore around violence to women he comes out with the statement that we should give this perpetual perpetrator against women a second chance. North had already given him three chances and he ignored them all. Unfortunately, he is what he is and it’s highly unlikely he will ever change. He has had his chance and imo he should never be allowed to play AFL again. I certainly wouldn’t want him at my club.

AFL News: Great's concern with Thomas lifeline, Brayshaw brother slams league over Tribunal 'joke'

What a load of rubbish. Typical supporter who believes that everything should revolve around the Melbourne teams and the others should just be grateful to be allowed to participate in their competition.

Footy Fix: No Mills, no Parker, no problems - How Swans' new-look midfield beat the Dees at their own game

I get so annoyed with people constantly referring to the SCG as being such a small ground. It is a whole 5 meters shorter in length than the MCG, 2.5 meters each way from the centre . WOW. In overall dimension, the SCG is bigger than both Marvel, Kardinia Park and Adelaide oval yet we never hear of people referring to them as small grounds.

I can’t believe that the “Leo Barry – you star” mark is not there. Not only for the fact that it was a great mark in it’s own right but it won a premiership.

Masters of the Air: The ten greatest AFL 'speckies' of the 21st century - and #2 wasn't even Mark of the Year!

You’re probably right. Horse does need to win a flag in the next couple of years or his tenure may be up. That would be due to his length of coaching without the flag rather than simply trading heavily this year. Then again, maybe one leads to the other.

Does John Longmire's 'all-in' strategy shift suggest it may be his last two years of AFL coaching?

Most clubs have not won a flag in the past decade and many have not even played in a GF in the past decade. The Swans haven’t done too badly in that time. Let’s face it, we had a premiership stolen from us in 2016 by the three wise monkeys in white (or green or blue or whatever colour they wore.

I find it strange that you link going hard in the trade period suggests a coach has a limited time left in the role. If that were the case you could include both Fagan and McRae to that list. Both traded heavily last year in order to win the flag this year. If you believe that you are in the window, it makes perfect sense to try to fill the holes missing to make hay whilst the sun is shining otherwise you will continue to be a thereabouts team but not quite good enough to win a premiership. In other words – no man’s land. The Swans obviously believe that they are close and the additions of the players they have brought in together with the organic growth of the likes of Warner, Gulden, Blakey and many of their other young brigade will now put them right in the window. Wikipetia made comment that the backline has holes in it. I disagree with that. In 2023 we lost all of P McCartin, T McCartin and Melican for the majority of the year. Take the three (in our case, only 3) tall defenders out of your side and see how you go. Melican is a good defender who has been cruelled by injury. Let’s hope he gets a half decent opportunity next year. Hamling will not be a Rance, but he doesn’t need to be. Having him in the side means that the likes of Blakey and Rampe don’t have to play on opponents who are 10cm bigger than them.

Freo almost a certainty for bottom 4.

The Swans have already won the trade period - and it's set them up perfectly for another crack at a flag

You can have your short sighted opinion but my God I will be laughing at you when the Swans win the flag next year.
Grundy and Adams solve the biggest problem the Swans had last year in winning clearances, Grundy may not be what he was in 2019 but he is still in the top 8 rucks who will be playing next year. Adams is a clearance beast who is nearing the end but still has a few good years ahead of him and that is all the Swans need.
FWIW – I feel it was an excellent and insightful article Dem even though there are some dimwits who can’t see past their nose.

I agree with you. I’m just not sure that the AFL does.

'People out there that want you to shut up and play sport' but Magpies skipper voices support for Yes referendum vote

Because they would be speaking against the public opinion of the AFL.

'People out there that want you to shut up and play sport' but Magpies skipper voices support for Yes referendum vote

Wonder what would happen if an AFL player came out and publicly supported the NO vote? Probably get fined or suspended.

Wonder if the result of the 2006 GF would have changed had the Eagles not had half a team of drug addicts playing on the day. Silly question! Of course it would.
That’s two premierships stolen from the Swans. One by a bunch of druggies and another by a bunch of umpires who just got carried away with the romance of the beloved doggies.

Every grand final of the 2000s, ranked first to 24th: Which classic is 'the most underrated decider in footy history'?

I think this is a disgraceful article. How the f..k do you know what was going through Maynard’s mind. So, you’re a mind reader by the sound of it.
One thing I can guarantee. Had it been Jack Viney jumping into the air to try to smother a kick from Scott Pendlebury and then crashed into him, Melbourne would be telling everyone how his sole intention was to smother and he couldn’t do anything else.
For what it’s worth, I’m a Sydney supporter hence have no love at all for Maynard but what has been said by you and Hamish Bradshaw is just ridiculous.

'Wanted to hit, wanted to hurt': Brayden Maynard - the guilty man found innocent

Thanks Skip.
I assumed that would be the case. I’ve seen a number of comments re Melbourne paying part of his contract if he went to the Swans for example but why would they? I’d have thought that Collingwood would continue to make that payment but now to the Swans rather than Melbourne.

TOM MORRIS: The hidden peril the Dees can't afford to risk in trading Brodie Grundy

Does the current deal of Collingwood paying x amount of his salary still apply if Grundy plays with a different club next year?

Completely agree with your comments on Gil and the AFL itself. In fact, what you have said here barely scratches the surface as to how the AFL deem themselves untouchable.
I read last year the book written by Michael Warner called “The Boys Club” and it opened my eyes as to how the current AFL work and it is bloody scary. The reality is that they are more powerful than the governments of the country as this book explains. It all started with Andrew Demetriou and his dictatorial rule of the AFL. He taught Gil very well and although Gil portrays himself as this nice, pleasant and well intentioned man, he is not even close to this if you take into account what the book says.
As you said Richard Goyder is an embarrassment,
Things will not change at all under the new CEO as he has been trained by Gil & co during his years within the AFL system. Nothing will change with the AFL until the entire hierachy are replaced by those from outside.
The problem is that even if the AFL was a public listed company with shareholders nothing would change as the shareholders would only be concerned about profits and nothing else.

Crows robbery the latest in a long list of failures by Gill's arrogant AFL

Having the correct technology is irrelevant if the appropriate umpire doesn’t call for it.

Crows robbery the latest in a long list of failures by Gill's arrogant AFL

All the comments regarding state bias are really irrelevant.
The Victorian media will obviously be biased towards Victorian clubs as most of theis consumers follow Victorian clubs.
I remember times when I visited Adelaide and you would think that Adelaide and Port were the only teams in the AFL. I assume it’s much the same way in WA.
As a Sydney Swan fan living in Victoria it irritates me that coverage re Swans news is so much less than Victorian clubs but I’ve come to accept it.
Shows that are on the likes of Fox Footy should have no bias but they still do as 90% of their presenters are Victorian and barrack for said clubs.

I just pray that Matt Stevic is not given the Swans/Collingwood game. If so, that’s another 2-3 goals the Swans will need to kick.

Why do so many media people constantly tell us what happened ago? What possible relevance does that have to what’s going to happen this weekend?

I see that Hinkley totally supports his club’s doctor over the concussion furore.
WOW. What a surprise.

Goodwyn was quoted recently saying that “May has come a long way over the past few years”. He must have been a real prick a few years ago.
