If anyone has doubts of Gallen’s stature as a player on the field, all you have to do is look up his weekly numbers, of metres, tackles etc. and you will see why NSW fans and NRL players rate him so highly. Many comments seem to have come from people who only see Bird and Gallen in SOO matches. SOO matches are completely different as the physicality and slightly more sinister efforts happen and are allowed to be carried out.

However, if we’re talking about grubs let’s have a look at the Melbourne Storm, and their disgusting tactics in every play the ball. When Bellamy was NSW coach the philosophy was to play dirty football.

There is no better example of Gallen’s new attitude than when he was given Carney to look after this year, not only has Carney earned a NSW call up he has also not touched a bad news story all year.

Gallen is a great player and needs to be applauded for what he has done in his attitude change hopefully paving the way for other NRL youngsters who need someone to look up too.

Gallen goes from grub to greatness

Great comment. Couldn’t agree more.

The worst thing about the Sandow and Roberts buys is the fact that they knew one was an average player (Roberts) and a ” rocks and diamonds ” player in Sandow and yet still threw the money, as though they have never had so much in their lives.

The Tonga brothers haven’t had a decent chance, been unlucky through injuries, hopefully we see what they’re capable of soon and next season or two.

And Justin Poore hasn’t looked half the player he was at St’s for whatever reason. There seems to be a trend of players who do not reach their potential at Parramatta and do far better once they move to another club, take Robinson at Cronulla for example, surely there is behind the scenes action that is impacting many players performance, and as Wayne Bennett says you should never pay over 300k for a forward !

Do Eels need to let the Hayne Plane leave ?

Agree Steve, Parramatta have seem like a team and club without direction arguably since The Emperor left. This can be seen on the field, through the coaching merry-go-round and very little leadership coming from any board members or the CEO.

No doubt this would impact all the players, and maybe enough for Hayne to look somewhere else ? But I guess if he wants a decent board that rules out my Manly move theory ! : P

Do Eels need to let the Hayne Plane leave ?

I don’t think he can change his style Alexander.

I think he has a very certain pattern and is very much a rhythm bowler. He has probably been bowling the same way for many many years so it is programmed and would take years to change that, which is time he does not have. Plus I’m sure in his mind he probably thinks he can become more accuracy without changing anything, except maybe a wrist position, or elbow angle etc.

Let’s cut him and lets move on.

CA contracted players: Johnson holds on, Cowan missed out

How can anyone at CA HQ miss the fact that since Johnson has not been playing our bowling unit has hunted like a pack, working with each other, strangling the batsmen of runs, before finally picking up their scalps.

Johnson is the most erratic bowler I have ever seen and England smashing him around in the last two Ashes campaign will justify that statement. He has no place in the current team nor in a future, which Pattison, Cummins and Stark the future.

The aforementioned players also have different elements which can work together in getting wickets in all conditions, the raw pace and angle in from Cummins, the swing of Pattinson and the bounce from Stark ( needs to be blooded but will hopefully get there ). It is an exciting time for fast bowlers in Australian cricket, going back to Johnson is a step backwards, one I hope we do not take.

I’m sure there’s an IPL team waiting for him.

Completely agree…. Sort of.

Changes I would love to see, drop the penalties to two points and let’s consider only drop kicks for penalty attempts.

Kickers with tees can kick from 50 – 55m now, which is an amazing skill. All this discussion often misses the point that these penalty kickers are SO good now they have to change the points. Berrick’s pressure kick this weekend and Harris in the second game, slotting home with the nation on their shoulders, is testament to that.

However, 3 point penalties is keeping people away from Rugby, ask any league fan. There is no more exciting game in the world than running rugby, we just want more of it, please !

Has rugby outgrown its scoring system?

” And ask the nearest South Sydney devotee if he or she would be pleased to see something similar paraded on a local football field, using their club’s famous cardinal and myrtle combo? ”

While we’re talking too South Sydney fans, can we ask them where their team song ” Glory glory to South Sydney ” was copied from ? A little team called Manchester United.

It is near impossible to create a completely unique jersey nowadays with so many sporting teams running around surely a second tier team that collapsed from the NRL many moons ago, does not have an influence in what another team can wear.

Let’s give the FFA credit on a fantastic looking jersey.

Stop, thief! That's our jersey
