The player of the finals series in my opinion was Liam Picken, someone ‘fuelled by that youthful exuberance’ past his 30th Birthday. Don’t think anybody has considered Crameri a ‘big power forward’. Lin Jong didn’t play one full game in the finals series. Tom Boyd was good in all 4 finals, not just ‘one game’. They managed to ‘Hold on’ to a finals spot by 3 games and 20%.

While a Premiership hangover is possible for any team, I think Cam and I looking at the facts with very different coloured glasses on. Even with a tougher draw this season, I can’t see them losing 10+ games.

Something not mentioned here which I think will have a big impact on the Dogs, is the new ruck rule. They were one of the best at 3rd man up and could really struggle with some of the more dominant ruckmen.

Forget back-to-back, the Dogs won't make the finals

If you need to pick a CDM for balance I would have Valeri & O’neill ahead of Kilkenny, the added bonus with Valeri is you have an obvious captain

As for the attacking mids I’d have one of Krishina/Nabbout (both been very good) and replace the other with Castro, even with his slow start this season. Troisi also unlucky to miss out in that position but I could watch Castro play all day every day!

The final change would be Berisha in for Fornaroli, you want goals from the man up top and you can’t argue with the guy 4 clear in the golden boot race.

Consistency over the season should be reward in the (fictional) all star team, so it make sense that it should be stacked with mostly Sydney & Victory players

Ladies and gentlemen, the A-League All-Stars

City really lacking leadership on and off the pitch. Do you think Muscat/Arnold/Ange would put up with that kind indiscipline? Bouzanis is nowhere near good enough to behave the way he does and keep his spot in the team, especially with Sorensen warming the bench.

A strong Coach/Captain would have pulled up the teams behavior very early in the season, while they were still winning. Once the wheels start falling off it’s already too late. JVS breed this culture and now the substitute teacher analogy for Valkanis couldn’t be more spot on.

Melbourne City's indiscipline is ruining their season
