It had to be four teams. The force or the rebels getting in the force the entry vote so the political push became to squeeze a Melbourne team in. I’d have accepted losing the spot to the almost myth of Victoria as being the sporting capital of Australia but once the force were selected they needed to be backed and Victoria to wait. AFL juniors has been shrinking substantially according to informed sources. Probly more kids dropping out of sports and the AFL keeping more of the good ones. Many places the govt schools don’t have coaches

Brumbies started in a different environment. They did very well to establish themselves but they were the third team not the fifth and there were less top talents heading north those days

Isn’t it a two year bridging contract. Who gets the job otherwise? Penney was available at about the level and a good club man. 2 years he’s done and then those 20s come through. But Burke playing the season and more scooter woulda made a big difference. Even havilli was injured and he can fake it at 10

Thought bubble. Losing that coaching group and compensating by getting in Penney (culture) and mentors eg halfpenny, franks and crotty. Reckon those guys were supposed to train not play till the injury crisis. Franks can show the young props how to train and crotty is very clever.

No worries you are a truer cricket fan than I. Warne the person I have some issues with but one of histories greatest cricketers. He could catch bat think (on the pitch) and bowl.

Some guys would stay in Melbourne if there was a team but no team those guys would go overseas whilst young enough to contribute and enjoy the experience. Rebels have a lot of guys who’d be welcome many places in the world including the USA but a low division Europe would be fun. They’ll find you a job and a party just like the old days. It’s not all about money especially for the squad guys who train hard but will never make enough to retire on

Sooner the better to announce so everyone can refocus. I believe the Japanese season has now wrapped so a player looking to continue a career doesn’t want to lose too much time and can’t fit all the top players in other clubs and maybe some the journeymen types will have a last hurrah in low division Europe for fun before returning to Oz and retiring to 3rds or fifths

Tom w combines well with Noah thus making it easier to pick the best goal kicker at 10. AK can catch that cross kick and is a good wing 15 hybrid so the other wing goes korobeiti or Toole. Probably daugunu on the bench. Len at 13. White starts at 9 with Tate on the bench. Frost doesn’t have the tight tough stuff for starting 6 so I’d go wright or seru. Tom hooper not ready yet and I want to see what liam can do. I could also live with the improved leota at 6 but want Liam to have a run with mcreight
