Interestingly I look at the front row the same way you look at the Halves Jez. Tupou & Slipper and AAA & Bell starting or finishing as a pair. I think both Bell and Tupou bring more dynamic play and hard ball carries than AAA and Slipper so would want one of each on the ground.

When Harry went to Twickers: Uncomfortable and hostile but being there gives more than it takes

The singing Harry, the Singing Fields of Athenry countered by Swing Low, after almost soulless canned music at Australian stadiums this is what i noticed most about Twickenham

Not all 12s are equal from Super Rugby to the Wallabies

ahhh Chook when you comment its like Les Norton is part of roar; never fails to get a grin 😉

The Wrap: Brilliant Hurricanes and Blues show how private equity money should be spent

Giving the new Referee a try out, that was Reuben’s first crack in the middle of a Super Game. (You’d have seen him around Brett was a canberra boy before shifting the Brisbane)

All the questions needing answers in Round 1 of Super Rugby Pacific

Tsuru potentially although i believe usual pattern is it becomes weaker and it spreads easier. As a more dangerous variant kills the host before transmission. eg Ebola extremely deadly but you die before you give it to many people…

Paisami and McDermott latest hit as Reds' Covid cluster grows

because he offended he gets “removed” for the board is how it is adjudicated.

'Mack the knife' in Dublin and Braveheart Scots: In-depth Six Nations analysis

Law states if it is a Penalty Try and the player causing it is ID’d (ie not a scrum) it must be a YC so no option. Penalty Try is awarded if the a Try was probable if the offence didn’t occur (take the offending player of the field and the would likely score).

'Mack the knife' in Dublin and Braveheart Scots: In-depth Six Nations analysis

My understanding is making the short term sub for the front row YC coverage can only occur at the scrum. To sub the #16 here would have been a tacticat sub meaning the subbed player cannot come on.

Western Force forced East: Border restrictions cause chaos for Super Rugby draw

Hi Brett, I think most of the confusion here is the use of language it is a deliberate knock on not a deliberate knockdown. Using the phrase knock down is causing angst. As an aside I think the decision was incorrect when everybody stops to look at the referee including the bloke who attempted the intercept its a good idea to at least scrum…

Genuine flames, if not a roaring bonfire of momentum, to end the Wallabies’ year

If you go uncontested you also have to drop another player… instead of being 14 men you are down to 13 for the duration of the card.

The Wrap: Dumb rugby sees Wallabies sacrifice too many points at Murrayfield

It is not, the HIA protocol takes the Blue card away and is instigated by the independent match Doctor. Jelonche was off for the HIA, I do however agree that he should have been pinged for his play acting…

'We owe it to the sport': How and why RA will fight to have Koroibete cleared at judiciary

I thought Tupou showed why he is a finisher, the time it took him to get off the deck after contact is far below what i’d expect from a starter, those 1%ers make a difference.

The Wrap: Goldilocks, Super Rugby and the three bears

Charlie I hear you. I gave the whistle away this year as last year I started to take the “noise” personally. I have a reasonably thick skin and enjoy the witty chat from the sidelines but after about 10 years it became too much, the ACT like most states are struggling for match officials and if the clubs don’t sort their supporters out there will be many more “club to appoint” matches happening. I watched a JID game this weekend, it was a tight affair and as soon as the final whistle went one head coach was straight on the field giving the referee a spray the cycle continues.
@Bobby, I have tried to explain to you in previous posts Referees on the National and even more so on the international panels are held accountable for their decisions. Why you believe they should have their short comings announced to the world I don’t understand, I’m sure the annual review from your workplace was never made available to all, you sir are part of the problem…

Referee abuse is eating away at the grassroots of rugby

Guess you are going to be upset when you see who has the middle for the final then Bobby 😉
For me, Nic Berry gets the best flow in rugby games in Australia at the moment, I’ll think you’d find the peer review process RA High performance referees use would have pointed out any bias a looong time ago mate. Referees like players make errors on the day, they also have to decide if the “infringement” affects the game; if they penalised anything that is technically an infringement it would be more stop start than the NFL in the US. I’m not sure if you have ever seen US Rugby 5-6 years ago it was nearly unwatchable as the refereeing was about the infringements not the game.

Are the Brumbies about to lose their mantle as Australia’s No.1 team? Part 1

D’arcy Swain and Lenny ikitau are only young uns too

Six talking points from Super Rugby AU and Aotearoa

Yep seriously, heads up footy to me is the ability to adjust the game to what is happening on the field at the time, one of the reasons that the Brumbies have scored so many tries this year. Strapping yourself to a game plan with no ability to adjust said game plan when the opposition is not doing what you expected them to do or plan A isn’t working is IMHO what caused the losses. I am fully aware that it isn’t League mate, Iv’e played, coached, Refereed or supported Rugby since I was in short pants…

Will the Wallabies ever win the bloody Bledisloe?

Interesting take on the Brumbies Wayne, I would suggest it has taken Dan McKellar until last season to shake the shackles of Jake White’s overly structured game play and get the Brumbies to play heads up footy…

Will the Wallabies ever win the bloody Bledisloe?

TMO have their own set of monitors that they can rewind and play multiple cameras on. It isn’t reliant on what is shown at the stadium or on the TV.
