Given that No.10’s need to be 10/10 for attack, kick and defence doesn’t bode well for the list provided. At best only a couple like CG and TL would be an 8/10, not good enough at an international level. Of course all the highlights of QC & KB are showing glowing attack plays but lack to show their inability to defend, I wish the commentators and media stop praising these guys up, we need to be focused on youth with talent.

The five candidates for the Wallabies No.10 jersey - and the old heads who may sneak in to join them

I do think there is casual attitude in Aus Rugby culture that’s been there in first class rugby for many years, The WB’s win a game but lose the next, the loss hurts them but the fire in the belly to do better is a luke warm response unfortunately, There are definitely some players who are passionate players and serve there club well, whereas others show up have a go but still get paid attitude. You could argue this, but the results show for themselves, closer games reveal that some strive better than others. I really hope this culture turns around….

It's hard to tell if some of Australia's Super Rugby teams actually have a deep desire to win - or are they satisfied just playing?

Having 5 teams in SRP with ‘spread talent’ to date has not worked for Aus Rugby, we are not at that level yet, despite the push for it and also the need, it’s clear our teams over time have not been competitive. With 4 teams, I believe Swains move would be the best thing and warranted as you mentioned.

'Toughest decision': Wallaby's blunt admission over form as Force land Brumbies lock, teammate brought to tears

Moving from Aus best performing team to the worst Aus team and the worst SRP team in 2024….hmm oh well it’s his decision.

'Toughest decision': Wallaby's blunt admission over form as Force land Brumbies lock, teammate brought to tears

Well said RR! NZ teams are smart enough to know who to run to make metres of advantage line. All those FBs you mentioned are weak in defence, why should any back have attacking flair when you can’t defend, The hurricanes backs look just as big as the forwards, there is fast pace but dogged defence. You can bet that razor is now picking the weakest link backs that Aus has, to target them in the Rugby Championship.

Chiefs all but extinguish Force’s finals hopes in record Tron trouncing, injury concerns for Dmac

Force have never been a force since its inception, either the rebels leave the comp or the force, it’s obvious we are struggling with 5 teams and tethering on 4. I feel sorry for the fans in WA but they are no good and now are an embarrassment to SRP. Tahs are not far behind…the pool of players would be spent and spread across for franchises.

Chiefs all but extinguish Force’s finals hopes in record Tron trouncing, injury concerns for Dmac

For Nick Stiles to say he is going to be transparent is like admitting a wrong and then allowing a sneak peak at his convenience…being a GM, surely he’d be well informed.

Rebels' Super future hanging on creditors' Friday vote as Rugby Australia set to go against plan

Agree, players benefit from oversees experience, we can’t pick the best of a worst bunch here, but only the best of the best.

Why Schmidt isn't sweating about Wallabies star's cross-code temptation

Campbell defence lets him down. Other than that he has talent by far.

Why Schmidt isn't sweating about Wallabies star's cross-code temptation

You and many others have gravitated that way unfortunately, the worse thing is it never was piss poor in the past it was exciting to watch 15~20 years ago…now the issue is by the time WC 2027 comes around we will be still way behind.

Wallabies' young gun mulling NRL switch as Rebels' future continues to cloud picture

There has to be a time when enough is enough! The mindset needs to shift when we’ve had a gutful…Phil Kearns said to the media after winning the 1998 Bledisloe we are sick of being beaten by AB’s, this is the mindset confidence we need back.

The insurmountable problem facing Australian rugby in a doomed rivalry with New Zealand

Yes Brendan, All number 10’s, need to be an allrounder, pass, kick, defence. Seems to me that NZ locks are targeting Aus no.10’s and gaining the advantage, so defence needs to be just as paramount, Carter has good defence but needs to be better.

Wallabies' young gun mulling NRL switch as Rebels' future continues to cloud picture

Bringing out the conspiracy theory in me, but I believe this is a tactic to bring Aus rugby to it’s knees, I think there is more undercurrent things happening here that we are not seeing…

Wallabies' young gun mulling NRL switch as Rebels' future continues to cloud picture

Yes JB it is so hard to see the same script written year after year, 1 x Aus and 3 x NZ teams in the semi’s, even then it wont be a home semi for the Aus team. All NZ final…. The issue is Aus teams going to NZ, while that seems to have improved slightly but it is a big issue winning away from home, so where’s the killer instinct? where is the point where we have had enough of being kicked by the kiwi pony!! Aus teams need to fire-up and needs this culture change now…

ANZAC Round showed New Zealand teams still well ahead in terms of SRP scorelines, but are the Aussies slowly closing the gap?

If Rebels franchise has expired last year how on earth are still playing in 2024? Why wasn’t this announced last year? There is no transparency

Rugby Australia's debts blow out to almost $89 million after draw-down of PEP facility

It’s great to see these young players doing well, they seem to be very balanced and natural footballers, not often on a debut you get to excel on your first outing and not get ‘Stage Fright’, but these players have a no fear factor which i love. I believe we have always had talent but have had the wrong guidance along the way. In saying that, some of these players are not wallaby ready yet but some are. What’s lacking is player depth when a good player get injured, so depth and all round skills are what’s needed, great attack, good defence, and proper ball skills, having trio of these skills will make these players great.

Australia's rugby talent is the 'best we've had since 2003' - it's time to let them flourish, not be shackled by team 'system'

Gutsy from the reds, they were gassed in the end but a great experience for the youth in the team. I hope they pull off some super confidence for the next games ahead, however that loss to Moana a few weeks back might hurt them in the standings to come, see what happens! Suli’s knock-on try was the biggest disappointment, TBH that is unforgivable! He’s let a lot of tries go through him with his poor defence to.

'Heartbreaking': Blues sink Reds with post-siren try after rising star scores epic hat-trick

Your right Jimbo, traditionally a strong Reds numbers in the WB’s team has had positive results for us. There has been a leniency swing to feed WB’s squad with with Tah’s and ACT players more, hasn’t always worked when you look at some players that have the complete package and get left out.

Wallabies in danger of losing Hanigan to ambitious French club just as forward enters his prime

The fact is we are still discussing this in April 2024, shows a lack of clarity to date. SR is almost done for the year, AGM should be discussing this a lot earlier, why are waiting until May. The diminishing crowd numbers are concerning…I can’t answer that reason for sure but can only assume is the results and the current governing body instability. However, I do have faith in some of the positive signs for change…..I just it happened more quickly!

'Easy to throw stones': RA chairman hits back at mudslingers' 'hypocrisy' after calls for AGM board cleanout

I dare say that this Brumbies vrs Hurricanes match would be the best gauge to where Aust rugby is at. The best Aus team vrs the best NZ team. How this game turns out sets the mood for what’s to come. If Brums do lose, would rather it be a close one rather than the shellacking they received last week. Would be nice to see 2 Aus home final games after round 15.

Brumbies to welcome back Wallabies duo for 'Canes clash after week of soul-searching, Tahs to tweak side for Chiefs

Good plan Russ, the list above could be in order of priority, Governance, organizational structure, finance, coaches, players, youth and so on. What’s so important is a transparent plan, actions taken, and review of the plan that you mentioned.
However the rugby public demand this to happen immediately otherwise these dozy board members won’t have any support left in Aust, it’s happening already, diminished crowds, merchandise sales are down, the downright apathy in the air is hurting all. I work with four other colleagues in my office, all from private schools, all played and supported rugby throughout their schooling, they loved it! however a few years later, none watch, play or support rugby anymore. That’s just one example locally, what is it like nationally? It’s AFL and League the follow now, more games, more support and more media exposure. If RA keep thinking everything is rosy and ok, then it’s doom and gloom for our rugby nation. Russ your are right, it needs change and it needs results now.

'Definition of madness': Rugby reform must start with total cleanout of RA board - and this should happen next

Good result against the Highlanders, although a the lower ranked team. Great defence across the park. Real test for the Reds is next week against the Blues, 3 key players down so it’s going to be a tough ask.

'Like a Scud missile': World Cup reject leads rout, but Reds suffer fresh blow with Petaia's season in jeopardy

Lack of fire from the get-go, Blues had fire in their belly and Brumbies too dozy to adjust. The Stan team talked-up the back line toom much, TW, Toole, Lolesio, Creighton, great footballers in right but geez they were bowled over, couldn’t tackle for nuts. As I’ve always said our backs need the complete package, attack, kick and defence. Brums forwards shocking in defence. If one player lacks either one of these, go home, especially when look at Caleb Clark. He to me is a quality back. Well done Blues!

Brumbies 'systematically taken apart by the Blues' in 'non-contest' as Larkham's men cop huge reality check

Yes this one is hard to pick Wig, the return of some quality players helps the brumbies, however Blues get Tele’a back and no doubt Tom Wright and Tooley better get their defence in shape against him, Tele’a is slippery and hard to tackle.

'Doesn't count for anything': Bernie gets serious with Brumbies as race for top two finish heats up

At least Larkham is not understating of the importance of this game and to those come. Definitely the round of the week. If Brumbies can maintain possession, fierce defence, cool Swains heel they might just do it…
