Been in & around for many years, I've played, coached, managed, & even attempted part time reffing, of which I admittedly wasn't that good at. Also been involved, with the Sydney Subbies for quite a few years, on a voluntary basis, back in the 80's & early 90's. So I can honestly say, I've put just as much into the game, as I had taken out, of it.

Yep TBH it’s a great weekend of rugby coming up, which actually started last night with the U20 internationals on the Sunshine Coast, with more to follow.
Apart from the ongoing SRP series , it’s great to have the continuation of the World Series Sevens tournaments, who IMO is the best of all the sevens tournaments, being an annual event. Australia are going into this tournament without two of their best players, being Longbottom in the mens & Caslick in the women’s, so that alone is a bid blow to both teams.
Yeh, the Black Ferns are still without their quality captain, Sarah Hirini, along with a couple of others, but are still in the mix to take it out. The AB7’s are pretty close to full strength, with a few returning from injury, , including McGarvey-Black, who is a excellent play maker.

Rugby Sevens Singapore: Tahs youngster set for debut, Hoops out to impress, new skipper to lead Aussie women

He’ll need to be, as he’ll be opposing David Havili’i who is a proven class act.

The Roar's Super Rugby expert tips and predictions, Round 11: Are the Aussie sides in for an old-fashioned NZ trip to hell?

Lets make our judgement on the improvement of Australian rugby come the Rugby Champs, as IMO that’ll be a far better assessment of how they stand. With new coach Schmidt showing the way, we’ll see how he goes against OUR new coach Razor, in his selected squad. Remember, it’s known that they did refuse to work with each other not so long ago, when Foster held the reigns.
Should be a great weekend coming up, as it started last night with the U20’s on the Sunshine Coast, with only one of the four teams competing losing! Guess who?
With the Singapore Sevens beginning around midday today, the SRP, & the continuation of the U20 series, we are in rugby heaven.

TBH do you realise that many Kiwi’s do prefer a game that’s played at the international level on a regular basis than just a club game that virtually has NO international following? If anything league was a caste off from rugby, due to some wanting to be paid for what they were doing, back when it happened. League is so second fiddle in Aotearoa, & looked upon, as a quick way to earn a quick buck, before they realise rugby has far more to offer if one is good enough to earn the big bucks.

ANZAC Round showed New Zealand teams still well ahead in terms of SRP scorelines, but are the Aussies slowly closing the gap?

In some places yes, but now in some places, some schools, & other venues are NOW employing security to turn these NRL leach’s away. Evidently it’s proving to be a success.

I’ll leave my judgement till after the Rugby Champs Jacko, as we’ll be seeing quite a few new faces IMO.

Super Rugby shows that the Bledisloe Cup isn't going anywhere - one selection could give the Wallabies hope

I just referred to Thorn by telling you he came from a rugby background & not from league as you insinuated !

Super Rugby shows that the Bledisloe Cup isn't going anywhere - one selection could give the Wallabies hope

Then again KPM, Thorn didn’t come from League, as a young fella he played in the Taieri Rugby Clubs age group in Mosgiel, where his father, who was a handy player, played. That was well before he & his whanau emigrated to Brisbane. As it was, it was his father that wanted him to go back & try to get selected for the AB’s to which he did.
As we know League forwards have trouble in coming across to rugby & playing in the forwards due to the different skill sets involved.

Surely you recognise a Maori name Jacko?? Lol 😢 😢

That’s your opinion not mine, as i’ve never heard of Valetini?? Like Vale!!

Super Rugby shows that the Bledisloe Cup isn't going anywhere - one selection could give the Wallabies hope

Interesting read but IMO along with a few friends of mine, the Saders are only going to get stronger as we approach seasons end, & with the AB selections not that far away after the SR finals. TBH there are quite a few franchises in that situation, with missing injured players.
Then again most know of the young talent coming through this year, & that will show out more with all the internationals, starting with the U20’s in the next week or two.

ANZAC Round showed New Zealand teams still well ahead in terms of SRP scorelines, but are the Aussies slowly closing the gap?

Also you might say that the depth of grassroots rugby is by far deeper in Aotearoa than what it is in Australia.

It was in the 80’s Bro!

Super Rugby shows that the Bledisloe Cup isn't going anywhere - one selection could give the Wallabies hope

We had our Subbies rugby team around that era Gary. Our sponsor owned the ‘ Sheep ????’ hotel across the road from the Flemington markets. We played our games at Aires Park not far away from the markets!

Super Rugby shows that the Bledisloe Cup isn't going anywhere - one selection could give the Wallabies hope

Yep true, but give me Razor anytime over Schmidt!

Super Rugby shows that the Bledisloe Cup isn't going anywhere - one selection could give the Wallabies hope

Yep i’d agree Coke, that de Groot hasn’t been up to the form he’s known for, since his injury issues, but I wouldn’t throw him to the outhouse as yet. He’s far better than what we’ve seen in this SR competition. I agree with your Wallaby back row of Cale, Swinton & McReight, but Wilson, no way. He’s so readable, misses & falls off tackles, dodges the hard yards etc etc ! Not for me mate!!

Yep BF, & they’ve still got Tamaiti Williams to return.

Super Rugby shows that the Bledisloe Cup isn't going anywhere - one selection could give the Wallabies hope

That’s your opinion Jacko, as we’ve all seen & noticed, even though your Southland boy DMac is possibly the best ATM. We’ll let the master, Razor decide!!

Super Rugby shows that the Bledisloe Cup isn't going anywhere - one selection could give the Wallabies hope

So very true!! AS we are in Aotearoa are so far past ‘closing the gap’ & a te tiriti in place.

Super Rugby shows that the Bledisloe Cup isn't going anywhere - one selection could give the Wallabies hope

As noticed Fats, with his ta Moko proudly showing that he’s very much attached to his culture of the land & it’s people, as most Kiwi’s are.

Super Rugby shows that the Bledisloe Cup isn't going anywhere - one selection could give the Wallabies hope

Sad as, not being able to handle the truth!!!

Super Rugby shows that the Bledisloe Cup isn't going anywhere - one selection could give the Wallabies hope

The big difference KPM is it’s the global game against part of a nation that has just a club game.

Super Rugby shows that the Bledisloe Cup isn't going anywhere - one selection could give the Wallabies hope

As I can’t wait to see what our new coach will bring, & not a string of firsts for all the wrong reasons as his predecessor.

Super Rugby shows that the Bledisloe Cup isn't going anywhere - one selection could give the Wallabies hope

No way a liability Jacko, as it seemingly is a bigger mess than most thought the way things are going ATM. He’s got a more than proven track record compiled over the years, so it would be utter stupidity to write him off. As we know Dermody is the head coach but evidently Joseph is the head honcho so to say, & apart from all the injuries they have within the franchise, as with others, he’s the one to sort it. Just imagine if it was Foster running the show!! God forbid!! On Grace, did you actually watch the game over the weekend?? Don’t worry he’s up there, & we’ll see what happens selection time.

The Wrap: Rebels young gun rockets out of Wallabies contention, and why Samipeni Finau's 'brutal' hit on Edmed was fair game

Pretty right, with the emphasis on imbalances, Geoff, as has been noticed.
