Manly were originally hated on because they were looked at as the rich snobs from the northern suburbs. In recent years, popular culture has made it cool to be rich. And to be associated with anything that is known for luxury, money or known for being rich. I think this has played a big part in Maly not copping as much hate as in the past……I personally liked the hate, ” You hate us, because you want to be us.” Also, it would have had to have fired up the players!!
