Spent 3 months in Europe last year watched a lot of football most in lower leagues, let me tell you the the A League is ok.

The code wars are here, so let's have at it

Adam, I would miss the A League if it was not here, I love football, come from a rugby league playing father, put on Football boots 56 years ago, been with the game ever since, love the A League. Its’ greatest threat from Rebecca Wilson and Allan Jones (2 despicable human beings) bagging of the game and Gallops failure to stand up for the fans. Lost thousands of fans during this process and football has to work hard to get them back in a hostile media market. In my long association with the game I have seen everything including the kitchen sink thrown at the game and guess what we are still here.

I believe the latest numbers playing football in Australia is 1.76 million, I think the sport will survive here regardless of any short term problems.

Chris Beath had a brain fart with the penalty and send off. It is pretty rich Foxtel commentators complaining about playing times, Foxtel set the viewing times.

Why does the A-League keep playing afternoon games in mid-summer?

The refereeing team were on another planet with that decision and I am a neutral.

Babbel fumes at penalty call

I have been involved in football for over 56 years since I was six. Played rugby league and football and eventually I chose football over rugby league which I follow as well. Football has and will always be a targeted by cheap shot journalists like Allan Jones, the late Rebecca Wilson and others. I think the biggest problem the A League ever had was when Gallop and the FFA did not defend the fans and the onerous standards which they were expected to follow when other sports like AFL regularly have brawls among fans which barely get a mention in the press. It will take at least another five years and hard work to get that fan base back. I think police and stadium security are finally beginning to understand that singing and chanting support is not anti-social behaviour. I do not think I will live long enough to see a change where we do not have to continually defend our place under the Sun.
On another note. just had an extended visit in Europe watched a lot of lower league football in the UK Championship to level level two, plus some smaller nations top tier and I am more than convinced the A League is more than OK, some Europeans who watched highlights and a match from the A League with me were surprised with the standard in a salary capped competition .

Mainstream sticks the boot in, but A-League can't help but delight

This is what I feared, bring back the Lowys’.

A-League owners have taken two significant missteps

I warned about this.

Has anyone noticed the Socceroos aren't on free-to-air TV?

Go Sam

Sam Kerr hits Jamaica for four, as Matildas progress to Round of 16 at World Cup

Don’t care, she is young, give her some slack.

Sam Kerr's message to Matildas critics: 'Suck on that one!'

Great comeback, proves if you keep intensity up after early setbacks you can turn the game around.

The Matildas reminded us why we love the world game

Went to the game, enjoyed it immensely, great to see the slow but sure growth of woman’s football.

Teams like the Matildas are just easy on the eye

The VAR calls have been in my observation in general terms have been worse for Roar, WSW and Newcastle though all teams at some time had a raw deal.

The problem with VAR

I have always had the feeling is he was only ever going through the motions at the Roar.

Brisbane Roar deal Adam Taggart to Asia

Pro/Rel is a purists pipe dream.

Three reasons why the A-League should adopt promotion and relegation

Well said.

Three reasons why the A-League should adopt promotion and relegation

Quid Pro Quo

If the A-League did have relegation, perhaps the bottom four should all go?

I am a self declared football tragic.

Purists annoy me, none of the other football codes have promotion and relegation for a reason, huge country/continent with major population centres far apart, with only a population of 25 million. Football is a 3rd/4th tier code in OZ, money is not flowing down the streets. Let us concentrate on making the A League bigger and better. Someone will always come first and some one last. Do not deny people who support clubs that come last to watch the A League without travelling from side of the country to the other. Expand the A League, make it better, promotion /relegation is a purists fantasy.

Post Office Marine. I was in the stadium in 1997 against Iran. So I am so over this end of the world shit.

Australia leading the race to mediocrity in the footballing world

How are we rubbing them up the wrong way?

The Socceroos’ loss is Asia’s gain

The bottom teams seem to cop a lot more VAR inconsistencies than the the others.

VAR controversy leaves Mulvey fuming

I find your logic confusing, of course getting regular fans is the holy grail and where did I mention sacrificing regular fans for casual fans, I did not. As a tragic I will moan about VAR and referee farces but turn up next week. But I still believe you are elitist if you say we do not need casual fans as well.

What in the world happened to the Wanderers, Roar and Mariners?

I know casual fans who go 3 or 4 times a season for what ever reason, I do not think we are in a position to be elitist and turn them away. I am a football tragic but people have different levels of support.
