The Broncos went away from the style that got them to the GF in that second half. I expected Hunt/Milford to run the ball, force line-drop outs, etc really pressure the Cowboys on the fifth tackle. Instead, kicking into touch was a constant let-off for the Cowboys. Running the ball on the last and forcing the Cowboys defense on every occasion could of benefit the Broncos in hindsight. Either way, they be back stronger and hungrier than ever next season.
Clutch Cowboys make history
9 years is nothing compared to what Cowboys fans are waiting for a premiership. 20 year wait for a potential maiden premiership would be well worth the wait. 2nd Brisbane team should be in along time ago, even go as far as when the Broncos entered the comp in 88 there should of being another Brisbane team from the get go.
Why I want a Cowboys win on Sunday
Records are meant to be broken and come Sunday the Broncos undefeated GF streak might comes to an end. A premiership would do more for NQ than Brisbane easily they won 6 already and even despite all that success got over-taken by the Lions/Reds in attendance every now and again in there existence.
What would premiership 7 really do in the Brisbane sporting landscape not much with the Broncos being king for now and the rest of the Brisbane sportings teams being terrible.

All I want is balanced media reporting, as of late league had constant negativity by those in the media at every opportunity. Compare the AFL media reporting to the NRL is day and night pretty much. The agenda against Dave Smith is obvious because he doesn’t bow to them like the administration of the past.
NRL need to unite behind the Gold Coast Titans
You’re kidding mastermind that the Suns are ‘winning’ because of one person only, at the moment the Suns are doing the right things such as engaging with the community under proper administration and marketing. There won’t be a time it which the Suns or Titans fully win over the Gold Coast, they will both have substantial market share of it.
Typical of AFL supporters to think that a area is going to be won over and become AFL territory same thing happened during the Brisbane three-peat it which Brisbane was going to be AFL territory now look at it.

3 players isn’t that bad there’s still the likes of Inglis, Thurston, Slater, and Smith. Every year, a break-out player emerges such as DCE for example. The game can survive as it always had for 100+ years.

League in general has a negative vibe whether it’s the self-interest of the clubs, the constant talking down of the game, the negativity is part in parcel with the game at this point. Whenever there’s a ‘club in crisis’ there the instant call for them to be kicked out the competition. There is a obvious lack of unity in the NRL to support the game in general, the AFL & ARU is all about the game first and club second.
The other codes do what is right for the code first and not let any club agenda and self-interest in the way of hindering the code.

*delmege.
Also, the Manly board had a time of disarray so the club is far from perfect. Being a privatized club, Manly will always get the funds one way or another despite disappointing crowds/membership numbers for such a winning team. When was the last time Eagles sold out Brookevale Oval after all that success, now that’s mismanagement. All that success and failed to capitalize on it.

Eaglejack
Remember Max Delgeme who gave Manly $10 million dollars to save the club financially, and this is from a club who made finals continually. Manly at one point was close to financial doom eaglejack. It seems fans are OK for over teams to fall over providing it’s not there.

billion dollar tv deal say otherwise to no money if managed properly and not used as handouts to clubs. Strength in numbers, the ffa can’t do it on its own that for sure. The more codes lobby together then everyone benefits.
As for the crowd issue I covered that in previous articles. All I say if you care about your team a least show up for one game. I go to Cowboys game on the regular and have no problem or excuses in doing so. Other nrl fans though cue the endless list of excuses.
The NRL must fund new stadiums
Of course turbo I’m suggesting this for the future, long term vision something rugby league lack since day 1. Raiders crowd are a embarrassment to the code, being a raider fan turbo you must have answers for this. I know a bad team draws bad crowds but the cowboys at there worst did better than the raiders. Parra 2 spoon in row did better than raiders.
The NRL must fund new stadiums
E meter
I prefer government spending to focus on health and education. Sport funding should be the last thing on a budget once the important areas are covered. I’m saying if the opportunity arises for stadium funding, the nrl needs to step up and contribute money to it as it shows responsibility and ownership of the stadium instead of it being just gifted to them out of the taxpayers pocket.
It’s why I want nrl to make significant contributions to any stadium contributions so taxpayer money can go elsewhere.
The NRL must fund new stadiums
If nrl, aru & ffa chip into upgrading parramatta stadium for example. In return, rental costs should be reduced as a result of the organization’s contribution. As a result, clubs will have a easier break even point reducing financial stress of respective clubs. The reduction of rental costs passes to the fans in more affordable ticket prices and transport. In a ideal scenario.
The NRL must fund new stadiums
Thanks for the points and correction ar. I wrote this article like my previous spur on the moment so it does look rushed at times. The gold coast afl deal was genius and something the nrl needs to do when they provide capital to stadiums.

away fans is always a excuse, you’re telling us that after all the success manly had they can’t even muster 15k home fans within the region to show up at brookvale. But I thought manly fans love brookie since they refuse to cross a bridge come finals time they be there en masse at brookie but there not. Explain that mals all the success yet non existent fan base.

it seems clubs like manly and roosters despite all the success fail to draw at the gate. All that success wasted attendance wise, if parra or the Cowboys go on a manly like dominance the crowds would be huge compared to manly/roosters.
The reality of rugby league's romanticised suburban grounds
The fact the swans have the biggest attendence in league ‘heartland’ is just embarrassing from a league perspective. So called league state yet the swans have the biggest attendence. If anything a team like souths or bulldogs should be the top draw but isn’t because of the attendance culture of rugby league and the endless excuses to not attend.

if fans want to watch the game at there home ground, the numbers said otherwise. If league fans love the suburban ground so much why isn’t it packed out every week. Cue excuses.
The reality of rugby league's romanticised suburban grounds
Well hutch if manly fans love brookie so much they should be selling it out then but then not despite all that success amount to nothing crowd wise. I dread to see what they get in a wooden spoon or bottom 4 year.
The reality of rugby league's romanticised suburban grounds
The novelty of suburban grounds can only go so far once the nostalgia is removed there just not fit for any professional sport at all.

Game of the round if done correctly on Sunday afternoon can see Sydney crowds increase overall by making it a event. Once it is a event there should be no problem it drawing 25k + if priced correctly. It give teams such as the Panthers a greater coverage. Also, it make the modern stadia more attractive to go with a heavily promoted and priced game eg penrith vs wests at anz.
The reality of rugby league's romanticised suburban grounds
Nearly 20k for 1st vs 2013 premiers is unacceptable Epiquin. There was $10 tickets too and the best they can muster is 19k. If both teams were full strength without the Origin hype it would of draw 25k minimum+ aleast. The current system is broken and unfair to the competition.
The crowd at Raiders/Cowboys will be damning and makes the infamous Campbelltown crowd look amazing on Sunday. Also, when the Roosters and Manly are in the top 4 crowds went down last season.
How long will the NRL devalue its own competition?
Ian
True, the core value of the game does get hurt in particular the blockbuster games.
Round 11-18 Blockbusters effected by Origin
11: Bulldogs/Roosters
12: Cowboys/Storm @ Townsville, Panthers/Eels, Souths/Dragons
14: Bulldogs/Eels
17: Bulldogs/Manly.
How long will the NRL devalue its own competition?
You didn’t answer the question Ian.
I repeat ‘why would you do to replace the TV revenue?’.
How long will the NRL devalue its own competition?
Sharks fans are loyal, to think 40+ years no premiership. I’m glad the Cowboys got one on the board now so now the focus would be increasing that total. While Sharkies will still be waiting during that time, it could be fitting the win in there 50th anniversary the same way Cows won in there 20th year.
Who will be next to get that maiden premiership?
