Eddie is part Coach part Chief Marketing officer. If we just look at the Skelton appointment.

1. Will he make the next World Cup? Might be tough on a huge man still operating at the top level at 35.
1. Poly connection, perhaps Jones is looking to solidify the team with a new leader that connect with the more diverse team.
3. Could the appointment of a hulking Poly boy from the West, attract the next generation of youths from the huge pool of kids playing league to try rugby leading into a golden 10 years of opportunity for Rugby? My money is here… wait for the Marketing engine to ramp up.

The Wrap: Is Eddie Jones playing the role of Keyser Soze or Frank Drebin?

Fair enough. Switch to 10? Position pretty open right now

Wallabies squad confirmed: Eddie Jones shocks with big name omissions from first training camp

I agree, compared to a few years ago he’s is more physical with high work rate and is having sn impact at SR level. Not sure if he’s at test level, I guess we will see…

Haha I’d watch it, love a Rocky comeback story ????

McReight won’t get picked. Still too small for International level, he gets exposed, suprised he hasn’t hit the gym harder over the last few years. 5k-7kg of muscle would transform into an amazing all rounder.

Eddie loves pace so really surprised Toole didn’t get named, he’s been great for his first season.

Can you say he’s had more of an impact than Valentini or Gleeson? Probably not…

he might play Gleeson / Valentini, both can jump and interchange for first phase crash ball off the line out.

He never seems to dominate at SR level. He was replaced on Sat and was outshone by Debreczeni who controlled the game so much better. I bet you’ll see Deb start over Noah in the coming weeks.

Fair crack boys. Half the blokes on here crying about a loss to a Italian team on the ride were the same ones last week wanting Rennie to give some new blood a crack! I’d rather lose to Italy but answer some questions for the World Cup.

We saw some answers.
– McCreight is too small to make an impact at Test level.
– Skelton has a role to play.
– Mark N showed some promise, just needs to pass less. 50/50s
– Lolesio.. doesn’t have it.. plenty of chances but doesn’t lead the backline and goes missing.
– Donaldson… tough start but the line immediately flattened up when he came on. Needs more minutes.
– Hannigan actually played better than is Aus A appearances. Will be in the squad.
– Tate I like him.. but passing / kicking not up to test level and running game not having enough of an impact to cancel this out.
– Hooker… find anyone who can throw straight. That’s all.
– Campbell needs more time and to tackler lower. But didn’t get many opportunities and caught his high balls.

Overall the Italians played much better than us and should have been much further ahead, we were scrappy as expected but Rennie has no choice but to trial some of these guys.

It's pasta joke! Rennie defends mass changes as discipline a killer again in first-ever loss to Italy

Blown off the park and had no rights to be in a position to win with 20 to go.

They had all the momentum, JOCs missed kick for touch, two missed line out throws, JOC kicking on a break when they had a man up.. plenty of others oops were lost.

Despite being out muscled, we should have won that makes the loss worse… well that with the injury toll.

Going to be hard to get the cattle for Sydney, but the group seems to thrive on adversity and it could be a great opp for some fringe players.

For all the talk about Fraser, can anyone really see him as an International 7? Name a loose forward his size that can not only play on the ball, but put in the defensive efforts required?

Yes he might be better on the ball than a Hooper, but he doesn’t have the grunt for an International coach to trust his 1 on 1 defence., when winning collisions is such an important aspect.

He just seems to be another player that will be destined to be fringe for his career until he goes overseas. Or he needs to do nothing else but focus on adding 5-7kg of muscle to his frame.

I think it means so much to the Wallabies fans, because there’s been plenty of times when it didnt seem like the team had that ability to really “guts out” a win. And what a way to do it, its a game we will all remember for a long time.

We weren’t very cohesive and were struggling with go forward, but you could seem glimpses when we got Valentini, Leota, Samu punching holes in the 2nd half.

I’m hoping this confidence brings that cohesion and also that extra bit of grunt up front we know we will need.
