He’s not wrong though. After Cheika left there was little team culture and spirit in the wallabies let alone Australian rugby, and I think that DR is really trying to re-introduce that spirit that has been missing for some time, and also introduce a new culture that the wallabies will return to the powerhouse they once were.

Rennie caught off guard by RA's Super threat but backs trans-Tasman comp, reveals discipline focus

So two players taken from the tahs but no one coming to us. Feels a little unfair to be leaving us out.

Nine transfers that would spice up Super Rugby in 2023

I agree, but I think Mark’s ball security is a bit better, but definitely MK and AK on the wings. And with Tuilagi out, Kerevi will have a field day.

I would rather Pietsch over Mark at the moment, just based on consistency. Mark is very much a confidence player and can be quite all over the place.

It’s usually because of money. It has to be faced that in Oz, league is much more successful, and thus can pay their players more, and there is also more money in Oz than there is in Nz. So they poach the Union talent with the incentive of money for the whole family.

I wouldn’t say 1’s or 3’s, the ABs lack real quality in that facet of the game.

Maybe, but that LH is notorious for wheeling scrums, and the ref just didn’t do anything about it.

Chiefs LH was consistently wheeling the scrum. You could clearly see that he was far from square in the last scrum before the chiefs’ try on halftime, was pretty much on a 45º angle. Refs just don’t know how to officiate the scrum.

And from the past his shot on Dane Haylett-Petty, who has now had to retire because he never really fully recovered from a concussion, which came at the hands of Jordie, or more the elbow of him.

The Wrap: Betting it all on Red and the rise of the Waratahs

Fair enough, still can’t really see it happening as it isn’t a very big rugby community in SA and NT, and probably wouldn’t be the best financial decision for RA. But, give it a go and I guess only time will tell.

Then try and lure MP in, because I don’t think we will have any chance in SA or NT.

Could be on to something here LP. I think having a competition that only comprises Australian teams and a Fijian team would be a great thing for the growth of union here.
8 teams seems maybe a little extensive, as we do struggle to create high-level competition with only 5 Aussie teams, but I think maybe try an extend to Tasmania or potentially try and lure Moana Pasifika to Australia as I don’t think they will fair too well in NZ, whereas they could really prosper in Oz. Either a Solely Aussie competition with Fiji and possibly MP would be far more beneficial for Australian Rugby and its growth.

Love that you are now a fan of Irish Gatesy, my English team since I was about 4. It’s been great to see Australians find a home there, and its why we are called the Exiles, we truly welcome anyone in who is worthy of a spot in the squad.

The world of rugby union through Aussie eyes

I have a feeling that ‘experts’ will try to take away England’s swift reactions, as they would probably say that Itoje ‘impeded’ Beard, but if you look at it closely, it clearly shows Wyn Jones bumping it to Ewels after HE closed the gap, not only impeding himself but also England in contesting at the lineout.

Wales literally throw away a try to England after a major lineout failure

Yeah that’s what I thought, but I haven’t had the greatest opinions of prem refs for a while, they do like their cards over there.

Farcical scenes as Premiership player handed red card... while unconscious

From what it looked like when I watched it on TV yesterday, didn’t even look like much of a red to me.

I feel if Ireland had Sexton at the helm, the result MAY have been different, as I feel he probably would’ve gone for the corner instead of opting for the 3 and would’ve had a bigger impact at Captain than Ryan had. As well as this, would’ve taken off Ryan for Henderson as I feel Ryan made a minimal impact throughout the game, and almost (probably should’ve) got YC. Either way, it was a great game from France, feels like to me they could be the best in the world at this moment in time.

France remain undefeated in Six Nations on the back of Melvyn Jaminet's boot

Definitely a penalty for England, Scotland obviously wheeling the scrum illegally, terrible reffing by O’Keeffe as always.

Should England have received a crucial penalty in this final sequence against Scotland?

Indeed they have, sad from an Australian perspective, but great as an Irish supporter (I am both btw).

The next batch: The Wallabies to watch for 2022

Curtis Rona would be great to see back in the Wallaby mix. Has a great crash ball at London Irish, and has helped them win four on the trot now.

I agree, I think that Rennie thought Hooper was invincible, which at the start of the tour left me baffled as to why they didn’t bring a good level back up 7, like Gill or McCreight. He will probably go with either Swinton or Samu at 7 (preferably Samu) and then potentially Colby on the bench at 21, going with a 6-2 split on the bench.

Slipper to lead Wallabies after Hooper ruled out

Gill isn’t on the tour either, the only other 7 they have on the tour atm is Colby Fainga’a. Wallabies are in a bit of trouble here.

I think that Jordan will get it no matter if Hooper gets his award. Jordan has been better than Kellaway, and that’s coming from an Aussie.

Fair enough Gatesy, I feel the same way as you, but they will still need the backing of “big” countries, like Australia.

What are you suggesting here gatesy? Just need some clarification.
