Fair enough, but looking at Super Rugby, this year showed that Paisami was overall a better player than Foketi, and Perese’s defence was definitely not top tier. For Duncan P, haven’t watched enough of him lately to make a judgement but even so, I don’t think he made the tour group, so I’d suggest sticking with Paisami for now.

Here's why Hunter Paisami's performance against Japan was crucial

Larkham just want to clarify, you are saying that Paisami performed well against japan right?

Well if You want to talk about how anyone can defend at 12, then why did Kerevi never get more than 6 tackles in all the Rugby Championship games he played in, whereas Paisami had 12 tackles, which is double Kerevi’s best in TRC. And Hooper could defend in most positions so use someone else as an example, who isn’t the player that hooper is. And Fair enough if he isn’t the same Attacking player as Kerevi, but as you stated, he had a good attacking game when Aus played France, and maybe he didn’t play very well against the All Blacks, but against Japan, it’s his first game back in 2 months and is playing a different style of game to that of what he has been playing. So in my opinion he is up to international standards (even though he isn’t up to Kerevi’s standards).

I mean without Kerevi it was pretty crucial. Paisami added that defensive layer to Australia’s backline and provided some very important tackles. So I do think that although he didn’t do anything “special” in attack, he was immense in defence and really helped hold Australia together in that game.

Great piece there Oscar, you’ve hit the nail right on the head with Paisami returning to his natural role at 12.

Agree with you there, but I still feel like for Japan’s future in rugby they will need to try and get into international competitions like the TRC, and without the backing of big countries, like Australia, that will help them get into those positions so they can become more competitive in World Rugby.

Why Japan and the clubs are in the wrong over Quade and Samu

Fair enough MK, but what my stance on it is that he will hopefully bring that same sort of experience and maturity that Quade brought, and will hopefully be a good fullback mentor to either Kellaway or Petaia because he has 90+ caps and ten plus years of test experience at 15.

Mate what young fullback do we have that is international worthy at the moment, and JOC is only in his early 30’s so he will easily make it to the next WC. I know Beale is past his prime, but with Morahan injured and Kellaway and Petaia not having lots of experience at fullback, let alone international experience, Beale is really our only option.

Why would they make the hearing public if they have never done for another hearing? It makes no sense to make exceptions just for Erasmus.

Don’t bring up international league as an argument. NRL is almost as local as AFL is. I am a union supporter and my game does have some international reach, but even I admit the only code is in Australia that can bring up the international argument is soccer.

Defusing the Australian code war

Australia would definitely be more competitive than the Pacific Island nations. They might not be the best right now, but their base of young players will provide a good contest for the lions when they come here in 2025, which is in four years which will allow that nase to grow into a better team to what we see today.
