How about starting off by dumping some of the commentators. Players are paid a fortune as professional sportsmen and yet Australian players seem to be above criticism by Aussie broadcasters. Every tiny mistake involving non-Australian players is picked up and raved about, yet when an Aussie player is at fault, it is glossed over. Gregan and Horan are the exceptions.

Rugby union's TV problem isn't viewers - it's the viewing

Our tight 5 (with the exception of Moore) are all soft jelly babies.

DIY player ratings: Wallabies vs England second Test

The Stormers name comes from the time when the Cape of Good Hope was referred to as the “Cape of storms” by sailors during the sailing ship era.

Is your Super Rugby team's name cool? Probably not...

I don’t think anyone really wants him (Toulon included) – Western Force could be persuaded seeing that the ARU is in control there now.

Coach hunt critical for Reds' bid to attract Quade Cooper

Beale……leadership?…..mentor?……you have got to be joking!

Michael Clarke praises crewmate Beale

Cooper?

How Australia can win the Rugby Championship, Bledisloe and Olympic gold

Be realistic please. With Cooper and Beale in the team there would be more holes in the Wallabies defence than there is in Swiss cheese.
Here is an example of a typical Cooper tackle:

With Foley in charge the Force will never be able to lure big name players. In fact, they are unable to lure any players of note. Until the coach is replaced, they will have to rely on has-beens and leftovers. This brings us to another problem….replacing Foley will not be easy either – few coaches want the job.

Brutal review helps Force start afresh

Australia is making sure that Cooper will get his 60 tests up before leaving for France. He will be a total disaster playing sevens. His inability to tackle below the neck will be exposed and he will have no place to hide. He does not seem to realize that in sevens you cannot afford to lurk in the background and let others do all the tackling.

Cooper's selection adds intrigue to Wallabies line-up

I do not listen to any Fox program that includes Marto. I suspect he is on Quid Pooper’s payroll as ambassador at Fox.

James O'Connor lets fly in long Facebook statement

Bokke will respond in the only way they know.
Circle the wagons.
Ten man rugby.
Backline for defence only.
Pulverize the opposition up the middle.
Lambaste anyone who touches the ball.
And like it or not, they will win with these tactics.

Japan beat South Africa in the biggest upset in rugby history

His inability to tackle will give the sharks a nice big gap in the mid-field.
Sharks will not be fooled by his tap-dancing and will target him relentlessly.
With his dodgy knee and iffy wing……..he would not finish the game.

Quade Cooper still a chance to face Sharks

You hit the nail on the head mate. What these clowns do not seem to realize is that their one sided often derogatory comments aimed at non-Australian teams, are actually heard in countries outside Australia. What really annoys me is when a referee’s mistake favors the opposition, they scream like stuck pigs. If however, it favors an Australian side they gleefully accept “we’ll take that one” smirk, smirk, smirk.
In contrast, I have found NZ and Saffa commentators even handed. Martin should not be allowed anywhere near a microphone, How Fox could employ such a biased buffoon, is a mystery to me.

The nadir of Rugby commentary

Yes, the Reds could possibly withstand the Canes, just as it is theoretically possible for Romania to win the rugby world cup…..

Slipper: Reds can withstand Hurricanes

Natural? “as occurs in nature”….you are kidding yourself.

SPIRO: The case of David Pocock and homophobia in rugby

I cannot see Richie McCaw or any other international rugby captain crying to the ref about name-calling……..seriously, can you?

SPIRO: The case of David Pocock and homophobia in rugby

Pocock has said that he will return to Zim at some stage. Perhaps now is a good time.

David Pocock issues a statement following his arrest

“The Boks problem seems to be the coach. They have the cattle but the coach seems obsessed with dads army.”

So true. HM is an overly emotional coach who rattles easily.
Any of the current European coaches could mold the abundance of talent available in South Africa into a fearsome team.
Currently the Bokke are doing well, even though they are handicapped by having a dreadful coach.
He is all heart, but very little else.

Wales grind out win over Springboks

I am not pro-Foley, just stating a fact as regards Cooper’s tackling ability. Foley may be just as bad. He does handle pressure well though.

Three outta five ain't bad: Let's grant Cheika a few spring tour losses

All of you who defends Cooper’s tackling ability please take a careful look at how he is always lurking behind someone when the opposition is running at the line….and arriving second when the physical stuff is over. Perhaps that is his job – to pick up the crumbs and counter attack, who knows.
He has perfected the dubious art of avoiding the ball carrier. There is no way that he has the capability nor gumption to tackle anyone running straight at him. He may do a jersey grab or a body bump, but a full blooded tackle – no way.

And please people this is a forum for discussing and not an insult slinging match. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and the right to express it. I happen to think Cooper is not up to standard defensively. Feel free to disagree, but please do so civilly and without animosity.

I am very impressed by the way Cheika handled the press conference. I believe he is a hands-on motivator where as EM gave me the impression that he is more of a planner and left the hands on coaching to his assistants.
Cheika is a straight shooter and will pick the team on merit, This means that Quade Cooper may have to consider taking up boxing full time, or learn to tackle …… as I do not think Cheika will allow him to hide like Link did !
Under Cheika the Wallabies should be a real threat at the world cup next year.

Is John Plumtree and Nick Mallett available?

Ewen McKenzie resigns: Who can coach the Wallabies?

Could not agree more.

Ewen McKenzie resigns: Who can coach the Wallabies?

I prefer the Saffa and NZ commentators to anyone we have. They are much more professional and aware that they are catering to a national or international audience. What really riles me is Martin’s incessant complaining if Australia/Queensland is (in his view) wrongly penalized and carries on about bias and being “robbed”. Then five minutes later when the rub of the green goes Australia/Queensland’s why he gets all excited with gleeful comments like “we’ll take that” and all of a sudden the ref is a good bloke. Martin should not be commentating on any games that involve a team that is not Queensland based as he is totally biased and not up to standard……besides he seems to forget that he was the other half of the infamous Campese in-goal suicide!

SPIRO: New Wallabies squad, same old players

Perhaps the same factor that deludes Cooper disciples to the extent that it blinds them to his obvious shortcomings.
So, BS to you as well.

Quade: I'll be back for the Rugby Championship
