It was a good win against the odds and particularly bad umpiring.
I find it astonishing that anyone could support a ” send off ” rule if it is left to the umpires,
they will, like every other rule, get its application wrong.
The game has too many and too complex rules to have any faith in the umpires to adjuciate it.

The booing reflected the anger of Essendon fans who thought the umpires murdered a good game! Pendlebury copped it because he milked a free kick in the dying minutes. It was very bad and biased umpiring. The AFL should discard those umpires- they were the problem. The serious issue here is the bad umpiring which allowed Collingwood to get a win they should not have fairly gained.

James Hird would be a good coach, but the media would be obsessed with every step he takes.
He would not get any clear air. I think Blake Caracella would also make an excellent coach, but the real story is how Essendon have dodged a bullet in not getting Clarkson!
Just imagine how Essendon would have been critised if Clarkson had been signed up!
Whoever gets the gig will get a talented list with a good future.
