I think you have explained the Swans thinking very well, i guess to the lay man it just seems crazy, but i understand their thinking a bit more now.

To me Franklin does not appear suited to the SCG, the ground appears a bit to small for him.
But the Bloods are not stupid, they are in fact very canny, and i imagine that this will be a win win, Franklin is but another tool to win kids and adults over alike, i note the private schools comp that was in its infancy last year will rise another notch, and guys like Franklin will grow this type of thing, not to mention sposorship, membership and media presense.
GWS will not lose out, but will beneift as well, from the increased media exposure Australian football will get.
The Swans begged and screamed at the AFL to not put another team in Sydney, but in actual fact another team has not reduced their membership, sponsorship or popularity, GWs have actually grown the football pie in Sydney, and they will also have their day as well in the near future, having not fired a shot as yet.
Having said that, it appears the AFL need to scrap the COLA from Sydney.

The Dockers in theory should be the bad boys, they play a style that has been labelled amongst other things anti-football.
That label may be a bit harsh, but their is IMO some truth to it, Hawthorn play a much more attacking style, and are far more attractive to watch.
Hope for a close game, but Hawks should win.
And BTW, i hope for a rain free day, and standby for some Crowley shenanigans, i reckon some Hawk players will be looking to run through and clean up tagger boy Crowley

On the way back from Kalgoolie last night, i passed the purple haze bus on its way to Melbourne, the guy who i was with was on facebook, and knew a guy on the bus, and low and behold 30 minutes later he posted a photo on facebook of himself and some mates at the pub at Southern Cross. 🙂 perhaps they are stopping at every pub for some supplies and refreshments.
Go Dockers, knock those toffee nosed Hawks from the lovely tree lined streets in Hawthorn over.

Don’t think Swans President Richard Colless, is actually much in love with Roos ATM, FWIU Roos is trying to entice Swans Acadamy players – born and bred NSW kids to Melbourne, the scene of his new coaching gig.
If true, seems like a bit of a d1ckhead act by Roos, who has been head of the academy, which has around 500 boys in it.
Perhaps he is just not going to take any d1ckheads with him !.

Who says he is ignorant about the machinations, the politics, management, the back room deals and reporting on scandals in sport, including SOCKAH.
As i said, just because he does not understand the off side rule, or juggle a soccer ball, does not mean he cant comment on SOCKAH.

i do not have a problem with a team finishing the top of the ladder, winning their prelim and going straight into the GF, as the highest ranked team having the game at their home ground, whether that be The Gabba, Adelaide oval or The MCG.
Never happen though.

Journalism has always relied on how many hits they recieve, even the ABC, a journalist does not survive without recieving varying degress of condemnation or adulation, bland does not cut it.

Agree with much of your post, day after day, RL fans are complaining about crowds when historically they are about as good at any time in RL’s history.
Sydney is the problem for RL, there are to many clubs, and not enough fans.

It appears you know very little, admit it, but still criticise.
My advice would be to research his articles, and then come to some sort of judgement, but we both know your the type that just claims everyone picks on soccer, and the sky is falling.

Patrick Smith is a sports journalist, he writes on football, cricket, racing etc, he is certainly entitled to write about soccer, and give them a serve or a pat on the back, just because he can’t juggle a soccer ball, does not mean he knows sweet FA about the politics and machinations in sport, i have never seen him kick a drop punt, take a hatrick, or ride a Melbourne cup winner.
He adds fuel to the fire of those not able to cope with any sort of criticism, and bascially that is a large proportion of soccer fans.

Whatever !!, why not everyone except the one player who was scared of needles, just another beat up IMO.
