A devilishly tough fixture coming up? Seriously? Collingwood will be favourites, as they should be, but this game definitely won’t be a cakewalk with De Goey & Sidebottom out. Melbourne play Geelong in Geelong (as always) which I’d say is 50/50 with Geelong’s current injuries. After than Melbourne will be favourites at this stage for the remainder of their games (I’m not saying they’ll win them all). The Brisbane & Adelaide games are at the MCG. The only other Top 8 side Melbourne play is St Kilda. Melbourne doesn’t have to travel to Perth, Adelaide or Brisbane for the rest of the season.

“More performances as horrendous as Friday night’s won’t just mean an end to their premiership aspirations: even their top-eight chances will start to look shaky.” Yes, there’s every chance they’ll miss the Top 8 (not). 4 wins from their last 11 games and with their percentage they’ll make the 8. If anyone wants to bet on Melbourne only winning 3 games for the rest of the season, I’m happy to take their money.

“This is so glaringly a cohesion problem, and it’s been an issue with the Dees pretty much since the 2021 grand final.” Melbourne won 16 games last year, had a percentage of 130%, and as recently as Round 21 beat Brisbane by 58 points in Brisbane. Their current percentage is 134%, 2nd only to Collingwood and 10% ahead of the next best side.

Don’t get me wrong. I loved the video anslysis. Masybe stick to that and forget the hyperbole!

Ah, I see my error now. I thought you were making serious commentary. Instead, you are playing the comedian.

Have you actually watched any Melbourne games apart from Friday night? Or even last Friday night? Look at the stats. Look at Melbourne’s inaccuracy. They should have won the game by at least 6 goals, even not paying the legitimate free kicks you have identified. Do you really think Melbourne are going to miss the 8? There’s as much chance of Melbourne missing the 8 as Carlton making it.

I agree. Melbourne’s set-shot kicking for goal has been attrocious the last few weeks. It was unrealistically good in the early part of the season. They should be 10-2. It will be interesting to see whether this will continue or wheter there will be a reversion to the mean which will help theirscoring considerably.
