No great insights from me. I’m just very disappointed. NSW, despite what many are saying, had the players to win that game had they performed to their potential.

They were easily the better team for much of the game with the exception of the first and last 10 minutes. With the game approaching the final moments and a lead on the scoreboard, the Blues should have upped the ante and powered to the siren.
Instead… they just clocked off early…
In spite of all that, I’m not going to write them off for the series.

Battered Maroons pull off stunning comeback on 'really poor' Blues to put Fittler's future in jeopardy

Well since it’s the usual from Freddy and the selectors the odds are in their favour having won 3 of the last 5 series.

The Roar's State of Origin expert tips and predictions: NSW v Queensland, Men and Women's Game 1

As a Storm guy, I saw what Nicho was doing and felt he was just ahead of Papa…
Both players brilliant though and either way you couldn’t lose…. well until injury struck
Hopefully for the Storm’s sake, Ryan will be fully recovered and once again be a significant presence in the team… and more so, for himself.
As a Blue supporter, I’ve been waiting (impatiently) for Hynes to get start… Yet another speed machine in a team loaded with pace. Will be very interesting… shades of 2021 potentially.

Blues ready to unleash Hynes, the beast that Slater created

There’s always opportunity to criticise and find fault though personally I prefer to view it from a different perspective. There was a long period of QLD domination which was pretty hard to take. Freddy has made the breakthrough and the Blues have won 3 of the last 5 series under his control. A win this year would make it 4 from 6… an amazing achievement.
JAC, Latrell, Turbo, Tedesco, Cleary making line breaks… In my opinion, QLD are going to have a tough night.

NSW Origin I team: Hynes, Pangai, Young to debut, Turbo, Frizell, Foxx back but duo ruled out in new-look side

100% They assassinate the shepherds and lie to the sheep.
There was a time when the 4th Estate pushed down the walls of tyranny and paved the way to freedom for the downtrodden masses.
That is long gone. MSM has sold out to the highest bidder.
All we have left is bread and circuses.

Right… and NSW? Slow by comparison 😁 The Blues have the pace right across the paddock. QLD could well be hangin on for dear life… as they were in Townsville, QLD territory in 2021 when they were smashed by close to 50 points.

Queensland Origin I team: Slater reveals 'hardest call I had to make' as star trio dumped while key forward dodges ban

Walsh is going to be tested and he won’t be getting a pass. Amateurish errors in recent games.
As a Blue’s guy, I’m glad Ponca won’t be there.

I’ll just say Blues to keep rolling on from game 2. I don’t see the Maroons winning this one.

MICHAEL HAGAN: Put friendships aside, make it personal - my three-point plan to upset Blues

The moustache is worth 6 points on it’s own!

Origin 3 Tactical Preview: Where the decider will be won and lost

“ but only if the Penrith boys say they like playing with him”.
…… and based on what RCG said, assuming the reports are true, the Penrith boys should be applauded for their stance. That is not a winning mindset to be part of your psyche going into the toughest battle in league.

I know it probably won’t sit well with QLD fans, but for me, I’ve never rated Paps. I’m glad he’s in the team. I’m not saying he has never done good things… he has. But overall I wouldn’t rate him as an Origin player.

Seriously? And they complain that the refs are in Fitlers pocket. Instructing the team to go as close to cheating that you can get away with. Does not sound like the mentality of a team of winners.

The fear of QLD is a distant memory since the retirement of several “once in a lifetime” players. Look at the winning margins of NSW over the last 4 years, that is strong indication of the current status quo. Add to that the results of last years series played exclusively in QLD. NSW 76 – QLD 6 in the first two games.
You are dreaming if you think the Maroons can beat this slick Blues outfit.
NSW by plenty.

Better not watch Origin 3 then …. you are going to see the entire QLD team bawling 😛

I’m no DCE fan being a dyed in the wool Blues guy, but I will say that he’s playing close to as good as I’ve ever seen from him. Definitely worthy of his position in the Maroon’s outfit.

Loyalty or lunacy? Slater makes big gamble as Maroons bank on tried and true mantra for series decider

But not as successful as Fitler. 4 wins in 5 series will equal what Phil Gould achieved (1992-1996). And hopefully Freddie will be keen to keep the job for a while yet.

Mate that is how it was… not how it is. The tide has turned. Surely the 2 big wins in Perth, and 76-6 in the first 2 games on QLD turf are a clear demonstration of that.

I’m a Storm fan and definitely see the value Kafusi brings to any team he plays in. I’m also a Blues fan and love what Payne does.
In my estimate I rate Kafusi higher in the impact he has on a game… Both represent a loss to their respective teams but QLD are losing a key player.
NSW… not so much.

Have you considered the repeated blowout wins by the Blues over the last several series? (50-6 and 26-0 losses and a win by 2 points last year… All 3 games on home territory). QLD on the other hand has had a winning margin of no greater than 6 during that period.

Despite being well on top in game 1, they only just hung on for the win.
QLD are going to get well and truly smashed in the decider.

How many halves of Origin over the last 2 series has QLD failed to score in?
4…or is it 5? Either way, that has to be a massive concern for the Maroons.

'One hell of a player': Cleary masterclass leads NSW to crushing win to set up Origin decider

What part of the final 36 Nil shellacking did the ref’s decision have a big effect on?

Freddie’s mind games…. lol. Apparently Freddie was too busy panicking and making knee jerk reaction team changes to be playing mind games 😛

'One hell of a player': Cleary masterclass leads NSW to crushing win to set up Origin decider

QLD have become accustomed to getting away with those tactics without being penalised. So they just continued to push the boundary… and push it some more… Clearly it ultimately became so extreme that sin binning was the best option. I really hope that has set a precedent that will influence team tactics in a positive direction moving forward.

Cleary was on another level. Brilliant. Plenty of great performances in the Blues outfit and what about Burton! Just awesome. Haha… so good I almost forgot Tedesco…. brilliant!!!
