Yeah I reckon Neser should have been in this squad ahead of Morris. Morris should still be in the Ashes squad.

FLEM'S VERDICT: Head must come back but Aussies need to change game plan or they’ll get another thrashing

That’s not bad. I think we need to see how Agar goes, just like we needed to see how Head went in the Test just completed. But now Kuhnemann is a potential selection out of left field.

Spin bolter a 'live chance' to play, Head set to replace Warner as Cummins defends controversial selections

A fair few would have had Handscomb ahead of Renshaw purely because he bats right handed. I would have selected Head. He’s no doubt been working on his game against spin and he has enough talent to be given a couple of Tests against India. But then I’m not there watching him bat in the nets. I probably would have stuck with Warner for a couple of Test as well. I reckon Head will play at least one of these 4 Tests. Maybe even the next.

I liked Ed Cowan’s argument for dropping Warner and opening with Head in India.

Are we all still embracing the chaos?

'Hard to believe': Steve Waugh stunned by Head case as Aussies collapse, Warner on last legs - Talking Points

I think Agar gets the nod because he’s a left arm finger spinner and they tend to go well in India (or that’s what I’m lead to believe). All you young left arm finger spinners, learn to bat well. I’m happy for him to get the nod for the 1st Test although I like to see new players so would be OK with Murphy. Anyhow, they’ll pick Agar.

Australia's touring team analysed – and why the selectors have missed a trick

I’ve been really impressed with Brad Haddin this year. Don’t think I ever thought much of him in previous years.

Fox's commentary cost-cutting has taken their coverage to rock bottom. It's time they were called out

Roy & HG only like League.

Fox's commentary cost-cutting has taken their coverage to rock bottom. It's time they were called out

I remember when he threatened to leave NSW unless he was selected for the Shield side. Initially he seemed to be typecast by the NSW selectors as a short form player only.

'Scared about next 5-10 years': Warner fears for future of Test cricket as white-ball leagues lure in young talent

I don’t think the tone of my post suggests I thought he was the answer to everything.

Australian squad for India announced: Four spinners key to success as selectors keep options open

A pity NSW dumped O’Keefe. His body falling apart aside (a big aside I grant), his left arm tweakers would have been a great option.

I forgot the Test is in Melbourne not Sydney.

Boland can’t become bowling version of Brad Hodge even if Hazlewood’s fit, Starc should be left out

I don’t get paid the big bucks to make those decisions. Internet me says Boland. Selector me says show some faith in local bowler Hazlewood.

Boland can’t become bowling version of Brad Hodge even if Hazlewood’s fit, Starc should be left out

Don’t see the point of dropping Starc. If you’re on a good thing to stick to it. He’s bowling well and there’s a series and Test Championship points to compete for. He’s the type of bowler that thrives on playing Tests and we’ll need that form against India. Pointless getting worried over a potential injury if there’s essentially nothing wrong with his fitness.

That’s 18 Tests in the coming 5 years btw. Test players like to build decent stats and you don’t get that from a few Tests a year. Where does that leave a player like Chanderpaul who looks like he has the basics of a long innings game.

No doubt West Indians don’t get contracts as juicy as they do here, that allow players like Starc to forego IPL riches. Mind you a quick Google search suggests contracted players do get paid a decent amount ($200k red ball 21/22) but I guess it’s a comparative thing when your mate is getting multiples of that playing T20.

FLEM'S VERDICT: Starc shines, Carey inspirational, but Windies need talent and planning for next summer rematch

18 Tests in 5 years or something like that will be a great disincentive to commit to Test cricket.

FLEM'S VERDICT: Starc shines, Carey inspirational, but Windies need talent and planning for next summer rematch

He always seems to get a wicket when we’re struggling to get any. We have a mighty fine foursome of quicks right now. We’ll be celebrating Starc’s 300 before too long.

200 of the best for captain Pat as Aussies run through Windies, close in on victory

3 great goals in 3 games. That’s what I’ve enjoyed most about this campaign. And all built from a solid defence.

Langer’s hard work, exhausting, energy sapping. Reckon I’ll be watching the cricket this summer with the sound down even more than usual. I’ve moved on from this whole palaver. He needs to use some of his meditation to let it go.

Langer unloads on Cummins: 'What is brutal is I’m hearing it behind my back through the media'

Head’s a decent choice as opener, but I’m not convinced he’s the right choice for Indian conditions. I guess we’ll see next year.

Heady days: Openers star as Aussies begin post-Finch era with resounding win over England

At a certain stage in England’s innings India kind of gave up. Probably just wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible.

'Un-Australian': Clarke tees off at 'nice' Aussies after meek World Cup exit, Watto calls for shock new skipper

Due to the short time frame between the T20 World Cups, and the fact that Australia won the last one, Australia basically went with (more or less) the same squad and strategy. It didn’t work. But I’ll give them a pass even though maybe I’m being too easy on them. A pass, as long as they move towards renewal come the next T20 selection. McDonald’s recent words suggest that, but we’ll see. Finch should have taken his queue from Eoin Morgan and quit before this World Cup.

Who’s to blame for Australia’s T20 World Cup failure: Selectors, coach, captain, players let themselves down
