This is an area where Bellamy surpasses the great Wayne Bennett, Jack Gibson, Robinson and maybe Cleary. He seems to be able to ‘manufacture’ halfbacks – Cronk, Hughes, Munster were all inside centre and fullbacks respectively. Bennett and Gibson always relied on champion halves to win premierships. Bellamy is amazing in this regard.

I don’t agree with that saying. The fact is, Bennett always sets and achieves high standards, so next coach is always bound to ‘fail’. Premierships and GF’s with Brisbane, St George and Souths meant next man in would always have a burden on their back.

Big difference is that Keary only played 1 SOO game, and it looked like his heart wasn’t really in it. Inglis played 32 games and was a constant thorn in the backside of his home state.

I very much doubt Easts offered Jorgo Jnr 900k per season. We only offered Latrell 850k a few years ago when he was a double premiership winner, Origin and Kangaroo star. Mind you, Manu and Suaallii are off to rugby, JWH will retire and Crichton and Tupou’s future are not finalised yet. So we might have some money in the kit.
For decades, every NRL player is somehow linked to The Roosters and we are used as a bargaining chip. It seems RU players are getting in on the act now. Don’t fall for whatever you read in the press.

Easts recruitment has been very good in the NRL era. Leniu and Young have been very good signings. If we get past the controversy, Leniu’s game against Brisbane was very strong and he added a lot of starch to our forwards.
