Conway had injured his thumb, Williamson is away on paternity leave, Mitchell is getting over an injured foot, Ravindra was resting a sore knee….that’s a lot of firepower that the BC’s were missing. A lack of depth exposed I guess, although many sides would struggle with four of their best players missing.

I love cricket so if they bring international cricket to my city and it’s T20, I’ll go watch it. If it was another format, I’d go watch it. But if T20 kills the other formats, that’ll kill cricket for me. I won’t watch anything they bring to this city.

T20 is boring. Batsmen constantly boshing 6’s and 4’s and running up similar scores each time, with the same type of hitting in the ‘chase’ leading to a contrived ‘close finish’. You see a few T20 games and you’ve pretty much seen them all. There’s some trick shots and stuff but the ball doesn’t do much, the bowler is on a hiding to nothing; it’s basically just a display of power hitting each time. If it’s just T20 and the other formats are dead, then ‘the goose that killed the other formats’ will stop laying golden eggs within a decade, and the whole sport will die off.

NZ and its rugby mad population of 5 million do pretty well. Won the World Test Championship in 2021. By rights a country as small and with as few cricket players as NZ should never make the knock out stages of anything.

Well done to the scribes for picking Ravindra and Mitchell in the team of the tournament. Unfortunately the bowlers and Tom Latham let NZ down, also the selectors for sending Latham to the tourney and pig-headedly keeping him at 5 in the line-up right through.

Thumbs down to those saying this was all a set up to get these blokes in the paper nationwide with a HUGE story. The bowler concerned is obviously a great athlete, get him into the Aussie team, don’t muck around. What an incredible performance.

Marnus is right that the recently reported comments are right and that the media loves to stir the pot. The media keep reheating it as click-bait, while making out that it’s the players carrying it on. The media know that they can use this ‘whingeing’ tag-line to rark up a legion of boofheads.

Tom Latham is probably a ‘great bloke’ but him and the NZ ‘brains trust’ are throwing themselves and the team under the bus by stupidly saying “we’ll bowl thanks” when he wins the toss. Twice in a row he’s given the opposition an invitation to go out and set an utterly imposing total on an utter belter of a deck. Going out and setting a big total is the exact modus operandi of both South Africa and Australia, and Latham opened the hen house door to a couple of ravenous foxes.

No. The Wallabies haven’t held the Bledisloe Cup for over 2 decades now. ‘A coach’ is not the answer to attaining the unattainable. There is something rotten within Australian Rugby and the Australian sporting psyche. No NZer should show up under this utterly contrived atmosphere of ‘the Wallabies will get better, with the right coach’ and then be made a scapegoat when they don’t. The job is a ‘reputational graveyard’.

No New Zealander should put their hat in the ring. They will simply end up as whipping boys and scapegoats for the failings & weakness inherent in Australian rugby. The coaching job is a poisoned chalice.

And even then he still didn’t come good. He totally bungled regarding the 1st 5 role and BB’s place in the side. We ended up with nobody really running the cutter and too much of BB’s stupid kicking game.

I don’t understand how Mounga can be the 1st 5 in that composite team when the AB’s coaches delegated a lot of the job of running the cutter to BB, with his pop-gun aimless kicking game. It’s something that never really worked & I can’t understand why they didn’t just trust Mounga to do the job, instead of relegating him to ball runner / passer & goal kicker. Perhaps it was a matter of balancing competing ego’s.

That was odd. When is an arm whacking into the face ever ‘ok’? Because it’s somehow judged to be incidental and accidental? You could say the same about any other contact to the head, unless it is clear & obvious that a player acted with deliberate malice.

I would point the issues that are bedevilling rugby regardless of who won any given game. And I’m not ‘complaining about the ref’. People have been complaining about the officiating throughout the tourney, it has never been this bad. I blame the governing body.
