We need to accept that the Wallabies are crap and rugby in Australia is not in good shape, particularly at the elite level but probably at all levels (apart from women’s 7s). The Wallabies’ World Cup run last year masked a lot of underlying problems. If we’re planning for the next World Cup (and the one after), sack anyone who won’t be there, pick some footballers with the right attitude and start working on skills, coaching and a new, fast-paced, ball-in-motion Australian game at all levels. That, and get off your arses at the ARU and start recruiting good talent. You have the money to do something now. For all you selectors – armchair and official ones alike – stop tinkering with this lot and start again.

They were playing rugby from another era, but I’m only 50 so I’m not sure which one.

DIY Player Ratings: Wallabies vs All Blacks Bledisloe Cup game 1

Top 7 Grand Slam winners of all time – Federer, Rafa, Sampras, Emerson, Laver, Borg, Djokovic – 90 Grand Slam wins between them. You might not want to have a beer with all of them, but they are all real champions and good blokes. Some were brats when they were younger, but they didn’t start winning Slams until they pulled their heads in.

Nick Kyrgios pulls out of Olympics and gives massive serve to AOC

I want to see Australians who would do anything it takes to be selected and compete for their country in the Olympics. Being an Olympian is a tremendous honour and an Australian Olympian should not only qualify on their performances, but display the character attributes we all expect and will be proud to acknowledge and support. Think of sportspeople like Herb Elliott, James Tomkins, Susie O’Neill, Pat Rafter, John Eales, Jason Day, Johnathan Thurston, Laura Geitz … not all Olympians but champions we all admire greatly as people as much as for their success. Our most loved champions are also terrific people and they have shown us you can be both at once. Kyrgios is not really a medal contender and his selection would most likely have a negative effect on the rest of the Australian team. We saw that with the swimming team in London. Kitty Chiller was spot on and she now needs to be consistent with others and keep the bar high.

Samuel, the Olympics may not be the pinnacle of all sports, but that shouldn’t mean those sports shouldn’t be at the Olympics. Dawn is a passionate Australian Olympian and sees the Olympics as the pinnacle of sport. For many sports it is, but not for golf nor seemingly for Adam Scott. I like Adam but I’m disappointed he doesn’t seem to appreciate the significance of the return of golf to the Olympics or the impact his presence could have on the rest of the Australian team and the Australian public. He may look back and regret his decision but, then again, maybe not. In any case, he will somehow be poorer for not having the experience. I remember many of the original US Dream Team – which included Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird – saying the Olympics was one of the most memorable experiences of their lives. Adam Scott will never know.

Are you too good for your home? Scott right, Fraser wrong in Olympic debate

Adam Scott represents himself every time he plays. He doesn’t represent Australia.
