Ideally, the best place to relocate the Bears to is Adelaide. They do have similar colours to the state cricket and A- league teams. Whether they could capitalise on the Adelaide vs Melbourne rivalry would determine if it could work though.

Want the Bears back? Then get real - forget about North Sydney Oval and commit to genuine NRL expansion

With teams like SA and NZ, I wonder if they could play a 6 test series with 3 games in Aus, three games there similar to how basketball does it? It could something like Boxing Day in Melbourne, New Year’s test away, with Sydney having it’s test with day 1 being Jane McGrath day, and day 2 being Australia Day.

COMMENT: What's the point in playing the Windies? Only the future of Test cricket itself

I think the next legendary test team from outside the big three will be something different tactically more than beating them at their own game like the legendary 80’s Windies did to be honest.
For example, nobody has done something crazy like open the batting with two bowling all rounders so that there is always a bowling partnership fresh and batting as deep as 8 yet.

I’ve never really been a fan of the sporting Mt. Rushmore or The G.O.A.T idea. Ironically, I wish the American sports shows would adopt the Immortals concept from Rugby League instead.

Whose faces would be etched in stone on your NRL club’s Mt Rushmore?

Would allowing fast bowlers from smaller nations to play in the shield help? I think it could serve a dual purpose in that the smaller nations have better 140km+ fast bowlers, and Australian batsmen even at state level are better able to handle them. And there’s the added bonus of CA won’t be interested in managing international bowlers.

Gap's never been wider between cricket’s Big Three haves and the have-nots ... and it’s only getting worse

Bowling all-rounders similar to Pollock, Flintoff, Vettori, Watson or Hadlee of the past would make more sense opening the batting to me these days. They could either pinch hit or block and wear down a bowling attack without having to score hundreds all the time, as they can make up for a lower batting average with the ball.

So I could understand why they would look at Marsh opening.

The answer lies in the past. If you look at the stats of most players pre golden generation, they played more first class games than test matches. The Bodyline team had a rough average of around about 30 tests. Bradman didnt play 100 tests either.

If international cricket is moving away from 5 day games, so be it. But CA should be looking at how to make the Sheffield Shield better to compensate for it. Play it Sunday to Thursday, play day night matches where possible for T.V’s sake and to attract a crowd.

Things like start in mid July and play right up until mid december when the BBL and Test series starts. Play as many matches as possible outside of the capital cities to stay out of the AFL’s and NRL’s way until October. Have NSW host Victoria on Melbourne Cup day at the SCG. Etc

Does Test cricket need promotion and relegation to reduce mismatches like Australia’s summer of carnage?

The Tongan and Samoan fan bases are as passionate about their teams as QLD or NSW supporters are. So maybe they need to overhaul the rep season. Shut down the club season over June, play all both mens and womens Origin matches three weeks in a row, have Tonga vs Samoa best of three and then have NZ play England either in NZ or England on alternating years. Then that would allow for a bye week the week after Origin for clubs to assess the damage and bring players in either on loan, or re adjust their squads to promote a rookie in place of a long term injury.
