Yes….except the team that lost those games is not the team playing next week

A Storm-Souths decider will provide the ultimate drama

I am hoping for a Rabbitoh vs Eels GF. Storm look impossible for even South’s to beat. Another great media controversy would be someone (anyone please) ask for this stat. They report this after each game so it should not be hard. What is the average play the ball time by the Storm and by their opposition each game. The only way to beat the storm is defence, but you have to score. They slow opponents down in the play the ball and still get away with it.

A Storm-Souths decider will provide the ultimate drama

We’ve missed the point alright. It’s all the tampering with the rules that is ruining things…even the officials are uncertain. Is it contact with the head or attacking the head? Is he tackled…yet? Was the pass forward? “It was forward but went backwards out of his hands”. Give me a break. Now we have types of tackles like the “surrender “ tackle. Give me a break. He is tackled when forward progress( thanks Rex) is halted. Now we wrestle for every millimeter even after the ref calls held. The tackled player keeps fighting to get forward. There used to be a penalty for moving off the mark. Surprise surprise commentators hate penalties. That’s because they are ex players and ex coaches. To appease commentators the ref now coaches teams during the game: hold, hold. Release. Stay in the scrum. Smith you are offside. Coaches should stop moaning about being penalised and coach your team to obey the rules and officials should penalise those who break the rules. If you want to see how to tackle and play the ball do this: watch some old games from the sixties and seventies, and watch how the women play. If you want officials to do a good job leave the rules alone and apply the rules.

Why the focus on Latrell misses the real issue in a failing system

Storm and Roosters are best at playing the game at full speed. South’s seem to play at a slower pace. Storm still slow the play the ball but no 6 agains given to South’s. Gagai is a centre. South’s didn’t put Storm on the ground. Three defenders finally stop forward progress but Storm still pass. Ref when is a tackle a tackle… when forward progress is halted! The strip rule needs fixing to stop defenders dropping off a tackle…as soon as there is more than one defender in the tackle you cannot strip. Souths please show more intensity to match the leading teams… you have the skill, you have the players, and late last year you showed you have the ticker .

My NRL dream team

No Coote or McCarthy? Mark Graham would not even make a Rabbitoh dream team let alone an open dream team. Neither would Gene Miles ( at least not in the forwards)

My NRL dream team

Leaving out Cook is a transparent attempt to generate comment.

My NRL dream team

I know I have one green eye and one red one but I rate Raper and Coote as equals. I think I can be impartial…I rate Beetson as the best prop I have seen. Coote was that good for so long it cannot be questioned.

The next rugby league Immortal

Glory glory! But I have concerns about our halves. CW can be brilliant but seems to get shut down when defences rush up. He needs to find a way to play HIS game instead of being overwhelmed. AR has the best kicking game but cannot spearhead attack. We looked better with Benji on. And can we please get players on the ground instead of rolling forward 5 or 10 meters after tacklers make contact. Go the bunnies. Get that Ferrari backline humming.

Souths are going to win the NRL premiership... next year

Irvine and Coote. Both automatic selections for their state and country for most of their careers. Outstanding performers consistently throughout long careers.

The next rugby league Immortal

Col Pierce denied Kevin Longbottoms long range penalty goal in a tight 1967 grand final. Doesn’t sound like a South’s fan to me.

The rugby league enforcers

Sorry for the misprint. It landed with a crack that echoed around Lidcombe oval and he was sent off. It’s a pity you can’t plead self defence to the ref because Sorensen wasn’t going to ask for Gibbs phone number.. he clearly had other intentions.

The rugby league enforcers

Spot on about Sattler and Tommy. Everyone loves Tommy.. the toughest halfback I have seen. At Lidcombe oval one day Tommy’s prop Bruce Gibbs was sent off. One of the Sorensens was on the ground and copped a verbal spray from Gibbs. Sorensen got up and ran at Gibbs. Gibbs defended himself with a punch that flattened Sorensen. It landed with a crack that echoed around Lidcombe oval but ref it was self defence! At the club after a few beers Gibbs was an absolute gentleman.

The rugby league enforcers

Yes they did. In one side they had Sattler Walters O’Neill McCarthy Stevens Coote Morgan Moses Sait Piggins. They could only get 6 on the field!

The rugby league enforcers

The Stevens punch came later, just before halftime. Are you sure you watched the game. You don’t have to be behind someone to deliver a coward punch. In 1968 Bradstreet started the confrontation with Coote. Coote finished it. Bradstreet was looking straight at Coote: it was no coward punch .

The rugby league enforcers

When you watch the 1968 GF Bradstreet started it and he was facing Coote when Coote finished it. No coward punch there.

The rugby league enforcers

You didn’t watch the game because the Stevens punch was later. Near the end of the first half. And in the context of a get square it was magnificent. And you don’t have to be behind someone to hit when they are not looking.
