The fact that you suggested Lancaster for me is a little crazy . I also agree that the best man for the job is ludicrous . For me Dave Rennie would have fitted well because he prefers that open style , but tough defence also .

TELL US: What are the positive signs for the Wallabies?

Is this a serious post , oh my lord . What is going on in Australian rugby , I watched the English give Argentina a real lesson in open rugby . Looked in the box and who do I see but the great Glen Ella , puzzling decision this one . Surely a new thought process and different direction in defence is warranted . Im scratching my head at this madness .

Nathan Grey wants defensive love after signing Wallabies extension

Good on you for being loyal to the Wallabies . I can remember not so long ago when John Hart and Taine Randall were the face of the ABs . If im honest they coped a pasting from all and sundry , did they deserve that probably not . The Wallabies were going through a golden period , in terms of players . The game was very different , it had more resemblance to league then rugby .
But it all changed in 2003 , when England came along and bought serious competition for the ball . The breakdown could not be sealed off and players had to stay alive and competitive . The truck and trailer maul was born and rugby started to resemble rugby . Now its odd watching the Aussies media ripping into the lads , and people turning away in droves . If I can suggest just one thing , it would be good if Cheika bought some real direct style of rugby back to the Wallabies . I still think there pushing to wide , to early . Confrontation is always about attitude , get that right and who knows . Great article and good on you .

Time to support our Wallabies

Coltman is a better hooker then both Taylor and Harris . I wish I knew why hes been overlooked for so long . He is a quality 2

The High Five: All Blacks vs British and Irish Lions First Test

Obviously because our kiwi media has no arrogance about it either . As a rugby mad nation the whiff of arrogance about us is everywhere . We sounded terrible after the Crusaders game especially the media . This sense of entitlement about how rugby must be played is why it took us 24yrs to win another WC . I think its time kiwis stopped saying the word arrogant because that in itself is throwing stones threw glass houses .

Gatland defends Lions after late loss

The Lions are on a hiding to nothing here , win and everyone will say they should win these games . Lose and plenty of kiwis will be throwing all sorts of snide comments there way . This tour is rough but at least Steve Hansen sees the benefits the Lions are getting by playing NZs top sides .
This must be a game where the mid week players will get one last shot . Sean Obrien needs to have a blinder and again hes up against the most under rated 7 in NZ in Todd . Then if Warburton keeps breaking down he has to be there first option . Cant understand why AWJ keeps getting so many extra chances , just pick Itoje and Kruis and move forward .
I am no Crusaders supporter like many other kiwis here who support anybody but the red and blacks , this is a hell of a tough game for the Lions . If Farrell and Murray control the game off the back of solid ball then this is going to be a beauty . The Crusaders have dominated all there S18 rivals because of the balance and superiority of there tight 5 but today for me that wont be the case
There effective rolling maul , dominant scrum and brutality at the breakdown is there platform so again this is probably something the Lions can actually compete with them at quite substantially . While Mouanga is playing good rugby , it will be interesting to see how well he plays against a side like this , for me the jury is still out . The greatness of a 10 is how well he plays when his pack is being matched or bettered , and today I think thats on the cards . For me the Lions will win today by 6 or less , and then hopefully this series will live up to the hype .

Can the Lions beat the Crusaders?

Gee Bob , you would have to say , its a no brainer selecting Itoje and Kruis as the Lions locks . There a part of the best club side in Europe . They have very abrasive playing styles and most of all , Retallick and Whitelock are the best 2 locks in the world by some distance . Launchbury should be there instead of Laws and for me Sexton was terrible a few weeks ago in the Pro 12 semi-final and he looks down on confidence .
I think Murray and Farrell must be 9 and 10 because there just confident players . For me and Im a kiwi I actually think this game will either be close or the Crusaders who I hate purely on terms of provincial rivalry will blow them away . The under stated thing is where will the Lions score points because the Crusaders have a very good pack , and they defend immensly so its going to be hard . But for me Lions by 3

Can the Lions beat the Crusaders?

As a kiwi , I doubt that . In the end the top 5 test sides have very solid set pieces . The NH top 5 teams live and breath the scrum and line-out play . I think many AB supporters probably would agree with you , but im of the opinion that some of these NZ super sides have inflated records currently .

The standard over the last 2 years , barring the LIons has been very poor . NZ super sides have always been consistent that is obviously because players yearn for the black jersey . I will probably get shot down by lots of other kiwis , who will point to the Blues as an example . But me Im not sold on it personally , as this is a team bought together to build combination .

Im not making excuses for the Lions Neutral View but there are some quality players who have stood out . The ABs as an alone team are the pinnacle team for NZ . They do everything in a different enviroment then S18 and they also have a completely different structure . For me England would beat all the S18 teams because they have been together as a squad for 2 years now . Ireland also , France and maybe the Welsh would beat these S18 teams .

Again though the resounding point being made by NZ rugby in general is that for those that think NZ rugby will stop producing high quality players think again . The development and coaches in NZ are always pushing to that bigger picture and the production line will never stop . Its how there being managed after that , that is influencing NZ rugby immensly .

Gatland makes a point but needs his team to make many more

Id love to see him play for the maoris thats for sure . Your reasoning for his inclusion is pretty factual and just imagine if they picked a Polynesian side . You have to say though we all have favourites and I am an Auckland supporter so I might seem biased . It would noty have been easy picking this squad , currently were just leaking decent quality rugby players .

The Maori All Blacks boast the world's second-best backline

Its a disgrace , Luatua is of Samoan heritage . But as a maori I would have taken him . He was abrasive as hell against the Lions . He stopped Stander and Itoje many times . It cant be punishment because they picked Cruden . So many good players not in that 33 . Ofa Tu fahanghasi should buy a lotto ticket . He is so over rated as a prop , hes lazy and will get found out against the Lions . He must have some dirt on a AB selector because there are so many good props in NZ .
