This was done in private? Was a law broken? If a law was broken then shouldn’t it be tested in the courts?

Any ‘image’ that is deemed news worthy should have a source, and whatever remuneration attached. This can then be assessed in the courts as evidence, shouldn’t it?

Whatever Pearce's punishment, make sure he learns from it

What I’m failing to comprehend is why the clubs involved didn’t carry out a thorough and complete Due Diligence on the Essendon players they were going to trade/draft.. Or, if they did, where they just being a bit too ‘cute’ in thinking that nothing will come of it – the sanctions.

Yeah, yeah, I know hindsight and all that. But still, best any trade is covered off on a proper process.

Clubs of former Essendon players should seek further compensation

Agreed. Well stated.

Crowley has served his years ban, and moved on. Being picked up by the Bombers, yeah OK will raise eyebrows in some circles – along the lines of:

– image

– message it sends

He is now entitled to continue to play football, he was training with Swan Districts. A lifeline comes along, I dare anybody not to take up a chance of being able to ply their craft back at an elite level. So, he is not the ‘bad man’ in the story.

As for Essendon, they want to be competitive in 2016, and I reckon when the football department was trying to sort out the train wreck and names were put forward the two points I raised before would of been discussed at length before making the offer. The ocean going level of critism they would of known they would get, but at least a decision – rightly or wrongly was made. And good for them, they want to field as good a competitive team that can be under the circumstances.

So, Essendon are deemed some sort of pariah club for their choice of players. Nope, I reckon they just want to give their members, and the general AFL public some competitive spirit that when your smacked down on the canvas you do get up again.

And for the record – no, I do not barrack for Essendon, and I never really liked Crowley’s, (or for that matter Ballantyne), style of footy.

Crowley wants to talk to banned Bombers

Yup, going down the Appeals process, what would be a realistic time frame? Do the players have an appetite for that duration. I’m not one to be a ‘shrinking violet’ and just ‘take it’ without a challenge.

But, there’s always a but, pride does come before a fall, and maybe this is one time just to walk away from it. Do the time, then move on. Yes, a bitter pill.

The Essendon 34: Can CAS’s decision be appealed?

Good on ‘im.

Giving back to guys that will be going through sheer hell I’d imagine. And to have a voice to listen to regarding dealing with an emotional roller coaster that will be at least for the next 12 months, (and beyond?).

You don’t have to like him, but at least admire his intentions.

Crowley wants to talk to banned Bombers

Really, it was just a ‘fluff’ piece from her. No real ‘pit bull’ interview technique. Now you want an interview get Leigh Sales! She would of carved up ‘he who shall remain blameless’.

Hird takes some supplement saga blame

Yup, I’m backing that Essendon are more competitive than people are giving them credit for. Sure, they maybe on a hiding to nothing, but, having ‘Woosha’ if any coach is going to get the very best out of the playing group it’s definitely going to be him. You could almost compare the current stock of players as GWS when they entered the AFL. Both a mixture of older players with a core of youngsters.

Nope, they’ll make a good account of themselves.

Crowley's on board, now who else should Essendon sign?

What’s he go to lose? Nothing, however, what’s he got to prove….plenty. A year off, and from appearances, he hasn’t gone to sloth. Age – 32, yeah, well that maybe a point, but, I refer back to the previous sentence, he’s had a year off, so all those niggles, pains, strains, corkeys, etc should of well and truly be healed.

So, condition wise, he’s good to go. A solid pre-season and I reckon he could be the diamond in the rough so to speak.

Bombers' first top-up player former banned doper Crowley

Yup, well balanced article.

Gee, look at me, I sound like Crowley’s cheer squad. Two positive comments on the same guy, and I don’t even like him!

Bombers' first top-up player former banned doper Crowley

Right, from the get-go, I’m not a fan-boy of Ryan Crowley, nor a supporter of Essendon. However, having said that I reckon he could be a good pick for the Bombers. His on field presence should ‘strengthen’ the more younger playing lists resolve in the way to attack the game.

Early days in the Bombers top-up players, but, maybe Crowley could be the: ‘Cometh the Hour, Cometh the Man’.

Good choice.

Bombers' first top-up player former banned doper Crowley

By the ruling of CAS – 2012 Essendon were found to have breached the WADA Code, therefore all players must be ineligible. Not that difficult to understand.

Medal to be stripped. Maybe not awarded, just have a * against 2012 Brownlow winner

Should Jobe Watson be stripped of his Brownlow Medal?

Concur to your thoughts AR

The AFL must not abandon the WADA Code

Who is exactly advising these players? Talk about misrepresentation. Should of listened to, or better still, got the services of the lawyer who advised the Cronulla Sharks.

Clarity….at last!

Well written, excellently (is that a word?) presented.

Bonfire of the certainties: Dissecting CAS's Essendon decision

Good article.

One of the more erudite and reasoned comments around.

Essendon doping saga: What did we learn?

What about a ‘knock-on’ effect? That being the VFL feeder team. It will now be depleted of players. And, the chances of that team, excuse my ignorance as not knowing North Melbourne’s feeder team, winning in this round of the VFL.

Just saying.

North Melbourne has the right to take a competitive advantage

As an aside. I reckon all clubs will steer clear of ‘favourite son’s coaching clubs without doing an ‘apprentiship’ as an assistant coach at the least, and preferably away at another club. Sorta like a sabbatical away. Only have to see the carnage, ie Hird, Voss, Tim Watson…dare I say ‘Bucks’.

James Hird is not to blame, the Essendon Football Club is

The head says Hawthorn.

But, as a believer in fairytale endings – Bulldogs.

Which AFL club’s bandwagon will you jump on in September?

How does this play out Re: WADA outcome?

I ain’t no lawyer, so thinking aloud, I see it if Hird is no more within the AFL sphere and an unfavourable decision is made it doesn’t affect Hirdy. However, Essendon, or ex Essendon players with other AFL clubs it’s all a set for the courts…again. Ding, Ding Seconds out…round 3.

James Hird resigns - AFL press conference live blog

err……if Dangers hasn’t signed up with the Crows now, doesn’t that suggest he’s looking at all that is presented to him. Or, rather his manager is. If he wanted to be a ‘one club’ player he’d have signed up by now, done & dusted.

He’s going, just not too sure where. Yep , smart money on the Cats.

The Adelaide Crows will keep Patrick Dangerfield

Now that is a great article. Filled with history, and written dare I say with passion.

SPIRO: The First Roar of the Lions

Well, if Buddy take the offer/opportunity it would then free up Hawthorn’s salary cap. Hawthorn’s game plan is probably getting set-up for life without Buddy.

AFL State of Origin: let's get it going

I think the time for ‘niceties’ are over. A hard, but fair decision must be made, no matter how unpalatable that is and dismiss Mark. But, and here is the dilemma. Who do ‘they’, or rather Peter Jackson recommends, pick as the next coach? A gig no doubt to career (coaching) suicide.

Is it time to unleash the Demons and sack Neeld?
