What an interesting thread – I am interested to see what happens to the Boks once all the old players retire. Already Smit is not playing the full 80 in S14 and they’re not getting any younger..

Great article – am really looking forward to the test season. I have always thought Deans is a machine coach, you just have to look at the Saders and the fact they’re still one of the top teams in the comp years after Robbie left.
I guess on questions I’d be interested in is will he still be the coach post 2011?

johnny, you’re right to an extent there I agree you don’t want half your team made up of internationals but one maybe two at a push will only do the younger guys a world of good. Learning from them and the experience they’ll gain.
The Sharks currently have Goode, and have had others such as Michalak etc and besides their performance this year the bok team has always been in the top 3. The Stormers have Nakelavukie (sp) Lions have Carlos…
Chabal would get bums on seats and inject some much needed cash into the ARU’s coffers which would in the long run filter back down to grass roots level..

Well said have to agree with that, with the articles on here just this week with regards to crowd attendances surely you’d want to hang onto a draw card like Cooper with both hands?

Rugbywits – I don’t feel the fact that the Lions were made up of a couple of countries is an advantage rather a disadvantage. Where as the Boks play together year in and year out, and know each other well, the Lions don’t, coming together for only a short period every few years.
