Sports mad hooligan...

McKibbon has been nothing but solid all year, lets hope Casper the Friendly Ghost takes his opportunity at 9 and injects some of his Sevens skill. He seems far more energetic around the ruck and looks to test fringe defenders.

Thinking Horne has been unlucky to be dropped to the bench, I thought both he and AAC have been the form centre pairing of the Aussie provinces of late.

Barnes in the centres for Waratahs

Cheers mate.

And thanks for the info on the 01′ Tahs v Lions game… Would’ve given further evidence to the Lions capitulation in the 2nd Test if the rumble at the SFS had been in-between Tests.

Super Rugby teams will skin the Lions

Surely (if all fit) a backrow of McCalman, Hodgson and Brown would be far more ominous – they’re all very large humans!

Super Rugby teams will skin the Lions

Can anyone tell me whether the Tahs v Lions game in 2001 was between Tests or before?

If it was after the 1st Test, then maybe the Rebels should take a leaf out of the 01′ Tahs book and play to unsettle the tourists. Minus McRea’s act of thuggery, the Tahs were able to get under the skin on the Lions and may have played a part in derailing the Lions prior the 2nd Test… And the rest is history.

Hopefully by now Joel, you’ve pulled yourself out of the doldrums.

As Jimmy (above) mentioned, these were celebrations of not only relief but of joy of achievement against the odds. Most media pundits in the know had written us off to qualify for the CL.

Personally I think things are moving in the right direction. The new players we brought in (ie Cazorla, Podolski, Giroud and lesser extent Monreal) began to gel with the rest of the squad in the second half of the season. And with reports that Arsene has the green light to spend big this summer, I think the club could be on the verge of silverware (touch wood).

Fourth place should not be cause for jubilation for Arsenal

Surely BB has the composure to handle driving the team around the park against the Lions. Deans has indicated that the Wallabies will play a simple, non-expansive game plan by not picking QC which suits BB.

As for the ‘Sneaky Six’, I think Burgess, Palmer, Mogg, Douglas, McMeniman & McCabe will be added.

Jim Wilson has just tweeted ‘#Racing Gai Waterhouse admits horse was off her feed in days before race @7NewsSydney’

Singo vs the Waterhouses: The More Joyous inquiry live blog

Why do you think Johns initially distanced himself from the issue by releasing a statement outlining he’d only discussed the chances of other horses in the same race, not More Joyous – with TW? When clearly Singo had named him as someone that had mentioned TW had relayed info on the horse to him.

Singo vs the Waterhouses: The More Joyous inquiry live blog

If the story of TW passing on info to specific mates of Singo (Johns, Hayson, Robinson et al) is proven true… Will his bookmaking license be rubbed out for all racing in Australia? Sport in general?

He’s Kiwi born and moved to Melbourne at the age of 5.

Unfortunately for Australian rugby, he has a clause in his contract with the Reds that doesn’t allow him to sign with another for next years competition.

Is it au revoir Digby?

Reports are saying James Horwill plus others

Is it au revoir Digby?

Correct… The issue is that third-party payments aren’t being met and it’s not just Digby that is up in arms about the issue.

Is it au revoir Digby?

Agree with the distain showed towards the ARU vs Super Rugby contract negotiation process…

However are we really blessed with good depth in top class wingers?

Is it au revoir Digby?

South African bowlers looking like they’ve woken up on the right side of the bed today. Bowling a lot better…

Australia vs South Africa Test: live cricket scores (Day 2)

Ponting’s footwork has been non-existent early in his innings ever since that 90-odd he scored on debut against Sri Lanka. I wouldn’t be geting rid of him too early considering the inexperience of our current top 3

Warne v Gatting???

Australia vs South Africa: 2nd Test, live cricket scores (Day 1)

Comical…

Australia vs South Africa: 2nd Test, live cricket scores (Day 1)

I think we should be looking within our current batting line-up for a number 3. If Ponting is left in the side, he was a magnificent number 3 and I think still has something to offer there. Or Clarke should be padding up at first drop. Following this we could be adding a proven all-rounder to the lower order. Cue the questions of if Australia has ever had a proven all-rounder…

Australia vs South Africa: 2nd Test, live cricket scores (Day 1)

Kallis looked pedestrian at the GABBA and today it seems he’s bowling hand grenades.

Australia vs South Africa: 2nd Test, live cricket scores (Day 1)

I certainly wasn’t having a go at the players, Jack. I agree with your comments on all the misfortune they suffered in Pretoria. My concerns raised lie clearly with the administrators and coaching staff in Australian rugby. The capitulation occurred due to poor management, not lack of effort on the field.

The state of Australian rugby: are the states the problem?
