So if Samoa and Fiji are in a final for the Pacific Nations Cup competition they have to have the final in Japan or USA.

How does this help their rugby community?

'It will kill rugby': Minnows feel shafted as World Rugby hails 'historic' revamp with exclusive Nations Championship

Short arm penalty instead.

Choice of scrum, kick tap and go.

Very much agree with your “making penalties worth less ” is an issue.

Good, the bad, the Eddie: Dumbest idea in sport, Boks' 'big set of nuts' and Will Jordan's genius explained

This sort of reaction to Refs and their teams is absolutely appalling – people who think they know the game need to get a grip.

Without refs we don’t have rugby – they are part of the game.

If you don’t like refs or them being part of the game then keep away from rugby.

Otherwise you go try and ref a game and let me know how perfect you are with the parametres you have to stay in.

Job assessment yes, abuse for being in the job – never.

Great article Geoff with great comments as well.

At the end of the day all teams have great respect – rugby is a community from battles where there is never a war and always a beer.

The Wrap: There's a reason Boks and All Blacks are at the big boys' table - the rest have to earn their way onto it

Pom in Exile I like this can of worms you have opened.

Firstly I don’t think we are all hive minded in the SH.

As a South Island Kiwi I thoroughly enjoyed the England/SA game. I’m from an era when we had the beers after the game & the only thing that ever looked good was the scoreboard for one team.

I think England played in a way that maximized their ability to have that scoreboard and good on them.

What did annoy me was the water boy/coaching staff but that might be all games so far – just seemed worse in this game.

As a SH supporter/ex player at low level we hear the NH media jump on us a bit – to be fair the SH media like to spill it out to us such as Stephen Jones, Clive Woodward etc. But to be honest it really is water off a ducks back and we don’t care.

Those that do get riled up about playing styles or other opinions are just stronger in their own opinions and we all know what we think about opinions – mine included.

In saying that I do think some rules for officiating need to be changed – not to change the game much but make it easier for the refs.

I admire the refs and wish this was a path once shown to me or seen at least.

I don’t mind Owen Farrell – I think going on & on at refs shouldn’t happen though from anyone but a captain in a passive manner which Refs deal with anyway when needed. For me it’s more about people off the field – Owen seems all right there for me.

What happens on the field ‘unless really stupid’ I don’t care about – rugby is a game that is richer for having so many different styles, characters & cultures.

Ultimately for me this makes rugby more important than many other sports (that opinion thing) and fills my entertainment void. The values of the beers afterwards & becoming mates with many is a value I like seeing youth in the game gain like I did.

I remember hearing during a final once a player having a little anxiety about tailing the following day as he wanted a big night like most of us. Half the team said “we’ll enjoy the big one with you and help out tomorrow”.

Bugger me they were heavy lambs – I was left with the Male/Female ear tagging. Was a fun day – this is what rugby is to me – a community from a battle where there is never a war.

The Wrap: There's a reason Boks and All Blacks are at the big boys' table - the rest have to earn their way onto it

I hear you and somewhat agree – I just think that the Boks will expect this and cater for it.

Bongi is showing great fitness though – the final match adrenaline might overcome physical endurance a little.

I think if we keep the back three thinking twice we cancel their back line attacking a little.

The Wrap: There's a reason Boks and All Blacks are at the big boys' table - the rest have to earn their way onto it

I think the AB’s will surprise us a little with their game plan – they have to surprise the BOKs anyway. I think that they have taken note of a few things from the SA/Eng game.

One thing will be very very clear – the AB’s will be doing a lot more chasing of high kicks and putting pressure on the back three & SA will do the same I imagine.

I also think mid-field the AB’s have it – the Wingers contra each other than Talea getting involved in the middle more. Fullback to AB’s, loosies contra off – slightly to AB’s with Ardie. But front rows SA have it slightly and more so in reserves.

It will all come down to coaching game plan success and execution of that plans and if the teams can adapt to changes needed. Both teams can change game plan but AB’s quicker if they identify it early enough without useless kicking from BB.

Simple things will win this game – set piece and making sure kicks do go out.

I think the AB’s will play a lot more conservatively and drill all week on getting out of their half as their defense is becoming their offense as well for turn overs.

This was awful Geoff – I was so so frustrated with water boys etc.

They should be medics only with no comms other than linked to more first aid resources if required.

The Wrap: There's a reason Boks and All Blacks are at the big boys' table - the rest have to earn their way onto it

I think Taukei’aho will not be there but Coles instead.

Taukei’aho had the dropsies again when he came against Argentina, like in that game against Australia in Dunedin. Although in the second half he was much better before being pulled.

Fozzie cannot afford to have that in the final.

The Wrap: There's a reason Boks and All Blacks are at the big boys' table - the rest have to earn their way onto it

They could do a canter the scoreboard up initially approach and pull the reserves in early.

I’m sure they have a plan – this squad are too good to get this wrong.

More showing that all players know what their role is where in the squad. To be honest I think SA have been operating like this for a good month & half – the AB’s in the last 3 weeks.

Such an epic battle these two should have – a little disrespectful to England on my behalf.

Looking forward to Eng vs SA now.

Will SA make the same statement?

I wonder if the AB’s will come out nut balls to make a message to SA?

I hate waiting for the weekend of rugby, I only get through by thinking the players are healing from the last game.

This week I pretended mentally that I was Ardie healing – to be honest that failed, I’d need another month to do what he does in a day – lol. Especially after the wolf laugh moving the car.

I am concerned about SA playing the exact side again – hoping they don’t regret this in the final.

They are one less day to the winner of the first semi.

I’m sure they have a bigger plan in the player management side of things.

Just out of interest – how many times has Warner reviewed and been not out on the review.

It does work both ways so what exactly is his point other than having a whinge.

David Warner's bizarre call to have umpire's stats shown on big screen to help players make DRS decisions

Sorry can’t agree much.

Bit like Vlad III Dracula saving his people from the initial onslaught by impaling how may first?

Irony is was for the people?

This is how I view RA keeping EJ.

Eddie Jones joked about signing Nathan Cleary - but he might be the only man who can save the Wallabies

Aside from all issues RA just needs to sort structure out with grassroots kids with subsidized coaches and make sure that the pathways go right through – not a hard one to work out.

Simple – people who start the players out and continue them through need support. Imagine the quality of coaches you might get.

I also think RA and NZRU should support parent coaches with a higher coaching or refereeing pathway as well.

How to grow the game has to be foremost – the rest will fall into place with good policy and governance.

Forget Eddie's Coogee circus, the biggest questions Australian rugby must answer were revealed in Paris

Another weekend of good rugby.

I don’t expect any upsets but they are possible at all times.

The one game mentality when it gets closer to the final keeps making each game bigger one offs “what if we believe”.

SA and AB’s will know this – AB’s especially from history.

However, that one game mentality could do the opposite as well and put silly pressure on players as well.

How coaches manage this I cannot comprehend without any experience or knowledge – I give their coaching team credit trying to negate negatives or make the positives for each individual player.

Nice catch – just found it in rules – “If the ball travels backwards hits the ground at an angle and travels in front of the point of the pass, the pass remains good. ”

In this case the right call was made then in my informed opinion with confirmation – 😊

I thought it was flat but then bounced forwards before dived on. So that is a knock on isn’t it? But I don’t think it then should have been a yellow card but scrum to France in my opinion.
