Pffft. . Greg Chappell.

Steve Smith should never be allowed to captain Australia again

No need to qualify it, its just true.

No changing of the guard, but hard selection calls required for Australia

How else are we going to measure it?

Tim Paine's time as captain is done as Australia crumble to humiliation against India

He’s better than Paine and that is a fact and the point.

Capt Smith – P 34 W18 L10 D6

Capt Paine. P23 W11 L8 D4.

I presume you’re being sarcastic PP
They are not mutually exclusive.

Tim Paine's time as captain is done as Australia crumble to humiliation against India

This is a repost from thePant masterclass thread-
India thinks white ball cricket is beneficial. Question? Would India have won the series with the more “red ball” oriented team they started with in Adelaide?
Or did they find the winning formula with a mostly more versatile and talented lineup of players, who are accustomed to high pressure clinches and backed them up with long form specialists, (Pujara, Rahane)?
Pant – Red ball innings. = 90 (27 test)
– White Ball innings = 195 (133 T20)
International White Ball Matches 44
Tests 16
Gill – Red ball innings. = 50 (6 test)
– White Ball innings = 108 (48 T20)
International White Ball Matches 3
Tests 3
Sharma – Red ball innings. = 204 (57 test)
– White Ball innings = 952 (427 T20)
Sundar – Red ball innings. = 21 (2 test)
– White Ball innings = 91 (64 T20)
International White ball matches =21,
Tests 1
Thakur -Red ball innings. = 88 (3 test)
– White Ball innings = 75 (31 T20)
International White ball matches =29,
Tests 2
Jadeja Red ball innings. = 224 (73 test)
– White Ball innings = 470 (200 T20)
– International White ball matches = 213,
Tests 51
And not to forget this guy…not here for it I know, but the formula sticks.
Kholi Red ball innings. = 342 (147 test)
– White Ball innings = 880 (363 T20)
– International White ball matches = 337
– Tests 87

T Sanga, X Bartlett, J Phillipe, several others. He sees the future of the game is in skills development, so do India. Langer thinks its about being a good bloke, but what does that mean?

I agree, the schedule is disruptive.

Almost the case already Dean.

I think Lyon might have much better figures if he’d had a competent wicketkeeper. I think Paine missed about 3 catches and 2 stumpings off him maybe more, and a lot of byes. There were also several catches dropped off him in the field. Also Blocker burned him badly on 2 LBWs where Pujara was not playing a shot.

Yes Ponting was the last good number 3. Because since then the best players have not played there. Smith would love the captaincy back, give him an incentive to play at 3 and show himself as a genuine leader. Give the new blokes a go down the order, our best ever players have all started that way. It’s a proven formula, what is the reason for it’s end?

Marnus Labuschagne to the rescue as Australia's opening woes worsen

Got you thinking now Wayne, best to try to answer your own question, don’t leave it in rhetoric.

Marnus Labuschagne to the rescue as Australia's opening woes worsen

I agree Colin, I could see Stoinis in the team, but at 3. For me the elephant in the room is how consistently well Marnus has played the new ball under pressure after the openers have failed, how many times now, can anyone tell me?
But of course everyone will say – he’s making runs where he is at 3, don’t muck him up-
I reckon Marnus would eat opening for breakfast, we’re missing a trick here.

An eye for an eye, eh?

A dkhead away from disaster: Does Australia's image deserve to crumble?

It doesn’t need to be like this, it’s a choice. The number 1 test nation in the world doesn’t have this problem. We should be looking to NZ to see that excellence in sporting behaviour goes hand in glove with excellence in sporting results.

A dkhead away from disaster: Does Australia's image deserve to crumble?

Hear hear! Good points succinctly put.

Why the BBL has to ban the bouncer

Normally my policy is to be kind, but seriously Homer, Australia are to be grateful?
For the great India to grace us with their presence, and rescue us from financial oblivion?
Come off it!
If Australia is to be grateful it is for the following –
– The strength and professionalism of the health workers in this country who have provided the best possible advice to government for the management of the most significant global pandemic of the era.
– That the governments were prepared to take that advice, and understand that the health of the workforce and community is paramount to the security of the economy. That the governments acted to protect the health and financial security of its citizens , even if many think it could have been done better.
– That the people of Australia have been steadfast in observing the activity restrictions that supported the pandemic management plan.Especially in Victoria where there has been the longest and strictest lockdown in the world.
There would be no tour by India to Aus or NZ without the above. India are lucky to be here.
If the Indian cricketers want to be so arrogant as to flout the very conditions that have made the tour possible, and risk the benefits all the hard work has brought, then they should be told no. CYA next time!

India isolation leeway key to Gabba keeping Test

Willow wiz, my wife, a very good psychologist, calls sport, ‘combat without casualty’. I love that I get to see sport with her through that lens.

Third Test preview: Can Australia turn the tables in Sydney?

Wow, that’s a lot, I wonder is he’s had a neuropsych assessment?

Third Test preview: Can Australia turn the tables in Sydney?

I agree PP, he is an adult and a professional sportsman, there is no suggestion he has limited judgement, so he has to take responsibility and work out a strategy to play that kind of bowling at that level. He must be a problem solver, or he is not up to it. Of course, medical advice does have a role and he should listen.
I wish him well. Though inexperienced at international level, he seems to have the talent, and there should be good support, and if he has the goods, together he and the coaching staff should be able to find an answer so the possibility of another injury in that way is reduced to absolute minimum.
Though I never played cricket at a high level, and a bowler, I was only ever hit by a short ball once, in my first seniors game at age 13 . I have played for 4 decades since, I still play a short ball below armpit height or wide of off. There are many examples of great players who use the avoid strategy.

Did you see that too Willow Wiz?

Not confirmed Bernie, just from my trained eye, my opinion, say.

Chris Green’s bail out to give Denly a 6 vs Heat was worse, get your hands behind it man!

Is this the worst fielding moment in BBL history?

I doubt Warner will be fully fit at all again this season. I think his injury is quite deep. He started it off when he slipped and fell at the non-strikers end in that 1st innings, then a little bit more when he turns in the run out, you can see he goes a little lower and longer on the right leg as he pushes off for the second. Then the bloody dolt went into the field and turned a graze into a big tear. No doubting his desire! The physio should have seen it and checked before he fielded. A shame really.
