Will be great to see QC back in Gold. Compelling game coming up. He should have played in excess of 100 tests. I am a big Tate fan but would like our backline to be White, QC, Koro, Hodge, Samu, Kellaway, Banks – would provide kicking options everywhere yo combat SA rush defence. Second half, Hodge to 15, Samu moving in one and Jordan P off the bench.
Thor must start with view to threated SA scrum. Rodda in for Swain and bring in best scrummaging hooker (BPA).
Go Wallabies, Go Gold – can’t wait!!!!!!!

CONFIRMED: Quade Cooper returns for Wallabies at No.10, Rodda starts, two debutants

Jacko, how do you know that support was not offered to Ms Castle?

Paul, where would you suggest McLean has failed?

“If he had a bit of spine”
Play the ball not the man. Do you even know who Paul McLean is or anything about him – a man with bigger balls has not graced the Wallabies jersey.

You obviously do not know Paul McLean.

Absolutly nothing.

Comment of the season

Waratahs' experience counting for not very much at all

Certainly will be a big year for Australian SR teams. Queensland will be looking for Thorn to produce in his third coaching year. Their young forwards from Aus under 20’s will need to raise a level quickly. Qld (bar injuries) will have an excellent back line with McDermott, JOC and Petia to set the standard with all excelling. NSW could be in for a tough season with much depending on their new coach’s resistance to ‘player power’ – putting Beale on the bench should be his first task. KB has not had a good season for, well, ages with his speed of foot no longer able to serve him. Simmons will perform no matter what and the game that Hooper plays will be crucial. Maddocks solid at 15. The Melbourne mob still lack an authoritative front row which makes it tough for their talented back line to consistently prosper. The Brumbies, I expect will compete with the Reds for Conference leader – greatly assisted by having the best coach in Aus SR.

Super Rugby 2020: A big year for…

BP, but early to be drinking mate.

Wallabies name 31-man squad for 2019 Rugby World Cup

AAC selected. Banks not selected. They can not be serious. Last week our clown, sorry coach was praising Wright – he is now gone and Dempsey gets a trip. Dempsey certainly played one good test last year but has not the size or form to justify his selection. How we miss the banished players like McMahon, Higgers, Gill and Fardy. AAC apparently contributed to our coaches appointment – should not that ban him from any selection consideration, alongside Beale who poses the ultimate risk on & off field.

Wallabies name 31-man squad for 2019 Rugby World Cup

Murdock papers have published the supposedly 31 selected players, including AAC and Dempsey in place of Banks and Jones/Wright.
Whilst AAC has experience, his form has not been to the required standard. His only demonstrated leadership qualities would appear to be during McKenzie’s time and the clowning of our present coach (?).
Dempsey – on what basis could he be chosen?. Certainly not form.
These selections highlight the gap created by the non recognition of players such as Fardy, Gill, and McMahon, encouraging them to ply their trade in cooler climes.
Toomua has done little to earn selection ahead of Cooper who poses much less risk than Beale.
Thankfully, we are close to the end of the worst history of a Wallaby coach in memory.

Decision time for Wallabies coach Cheika

Or, lack there of.

Is Michael Cheika a saint, sinner or something in between?

I’m not aware that Toomua has shown any form that justifies a WC spot.

Eight talking points from Bledisloe 2

First game Aus win well.
Second game Aus loose well.
Difference: AB coach changed is game plan.
Aus caught out by better coaching . Kiwis put more bodies into breakdown and we could not adjust – nothing different in second half. Why?

Bledi hell! Wallabies walloped by brilliant All Blacks

Yes, we are very interested!
The Test for the Wallabies will be their ability to back up the massively improved performance of their forwards. Will the master motivator be able to inspire his workers to reproduce their motivation and controlled aggression? Big gains from a committed pack must be repeated without fail to enable Bill to return to Aus.
Our backs have been allowed to ‘play’ , run straight and not repeatedly kick the pill back to the Kiwis back three. The major changes enabling this is Hooper playing a tighter game and the inclusion of a fly half well assisted by JOC and a half back with options.
Can not wait to see Kerevi run at and over SBW.
The outcome in Auckland will hopefully not be influenced by any Beale brain snaps.
Possibly in for a wet night – is a 6-2 bench the way to go?

Bledisloe 2 - now we're interested

The Clown will never fly.

What we know after the Wallabies' stunning Bledisloe 1 win

Found his team. Rubbish.
Aaa in place of Kepu
Toomua gone
Poe for Hooper
JOC must start at 15 or wing.
Unconvinced by Beale. Don’t want DHP
Prefer Hodge at 15
Will @ White as 9’s
Quade must get a trial at least.
Wright must get a trial at least

Michael Cheika has found his Wallabies team, now he has to stick to it for the World Cup

Bluesfan, the selection issues continue despite another flogging in the rucks last weekend. We need a monkey that can snaffle – not a wide running 7 who appears to be not sure of his role. if he knows, please someone let the rest of us know.
We had a really good 7 (Gill) who saw the writing on the wall and left town. Higgenbottom has been treated poorly by your (not my) coach for not playing tight enough – what about Hooper who runs around like a bloody chook. Why not give Wright a trial. Why is Hodge on the wing again when he has not shone at wing all year? How can Quade not be in the mix – certainly provides more skills and options that Foley. Toomua no good in UK and no good for the Rebs.
A blind brown dog would perform better before & after games than our present coach.
Beale makes more errors than Quade yet walks into the team. If Beale runs across field tonight. we will be absolutley smashed. Surely we know what Beale and Hooper can do, why not start with Wright and JOC to access their impact before WC.
Kepu was our worst prop last week yet he remains in run on squad.
Pumas by 8 +.

Wallabies vs Argentina: Rugby Championship preview and prediction

Well compiled article displaying a sound understanding of our game.
I do not understand the persistence with Foley at fly half when he has yet to control a game like a McLean or Lynagh.
Who to replace Foley with requires some thought and discussion. Given Coopers apparent unselectable tag, we are left with squad members Toomua, CCL, & Beale.
Toomua – has not performed at his best in 2019. Why?
CCL – possibly best of the 3 but will not set the game alight.
Beale- has never performed well at 10
My question to you, PK.
JOC was selected by coach Deans at 10 and performed OK without loosing or winning games. His UK form has been top class at 12. Do you see any value in selecting JOC at 10 for the next 3 tests to enable a fair assessment of his ability to control a game.? Are Toomua & Beale capable of turning around our fortunes for the WC?
I am unable to come up with a down side to JOC’s selection as we are not going anywhere as is and JOC would appear our only chance of enabling our game to flow.

The changes the Wallabies need to make to beat Argentina

I suspect that the development strategies implemented during the Pulver reign will ultimately prove beneficial to Aus Rugby.
On the financial side, any attempt to justify the 30+ squad based in South Africa for 2 weeks would be a difficult task.
Would not a hit and run mission with 25 players be better aligned with the reported financial position of RA. The persuasive powers of Chieka would appear successful at any cost.

Maybe Rugby Australia know what they're doing

I have been sitting on my thoughts for couple of days. What strikes me is that the marginal call appear to have gone to NSW players :
Latu – surely Rangi is better on & off field
AAC – not at WC standard. Hopefully Petiai will be sufficiently fit to tour. English & CFS in better
form.
Foley: patchy at best with lamentable start to season. Give Quade a go with decent pack.
Robbo – at best number 6 prop
Beale – on his day vg. Average game not to standard required – crabs and gives up.
Dempsey – yes, played one test well. Not best available and did not perform this year. Others
including Higgers preferred.
Another whose selection surprised was Toomua. His form prior to returning to Aus was not good. Played one poor Super Rugby game and was dropped for Cooper. Not deserving of selection based on 2019 form, however maybe they want another look at him.
Hopefully Poecock (Loose forward), JOC (10 – 15) & Petaia 13, 11 ,14) will be available for selection.
I would probably trial JOC at 10 as this is by far our position of weakness. He is certainly a starting 15 player.

Has the latest Wallabies squad heralded the end of a selection era?

Lots of comments re JOC’s skills & form .
Has anyone actually seen him play a full game in past couple of years?

Compared to Beale he did very little. Also a much better WC option than Beale
